    Thank you for the inspiration.
    I like the "Five Minute" thought here. Among the things that have always scared me away from drawing is the thought that it needs hours and hours turning into days turning into years of trying, with only a shitty result in the end. This seems encouraging. I'm going to order one of those via your links.

    Teoh!!!---I have a great idea--YOU need to put together a book of your own!!! A combo of architectural and people drawing techniques 😊

      +Desiree Webster It's very tedious to put together a book. I prefer making short videos like these 😁

    I have Liz Steel's book and love it. Concise and great for quick reference info and ideas. Liz is one of my favourite teachers.

    Both are interesting. Esp for someone who wants to draw architectural pieces or people but dont know where to begin. I also like books that show what not to do.

    Interesting. I like that the books briefly touch on numerous topics for when I only have a few minutes.

    Thanks Teoh - it''s nice to see what i can accomplish in five minutes from the tips in these books. The structure of the books looks great for beginners and the authors look like great artists too. I will check out these titles now on Amazon. :)

    Excellent timely review. These books are on my short list already. I bought the sketch handbook on people after watching your review.

    I am trying to start urban sketching and I bought Marc Taro Holmes' book first, then Frances Belleville's, and now this one from Liz Steel. They each fill a need for beginners, i feel. While Marc's goes more in dept technically and France's inspires and gives ideas, Liz's is actually the least intimitading to me. Information in bite sizes like this make it more "digestible" and less scary. i can learn bit by bit, then go deeper with other books, like Marc's. Of course, Liz's sketches are really beautiful, so even if I were only to look at it, i feel it would be worth my money :-) I'll be ordering Pete Scully's book shortly, after this review.

    Wow! Lots of examples to copy in the architecture book! I like drawing books that make it easy to copy the author, rather than show what can be done, especially if just getting into drawing. I also like for them to "cut to the chase" and not have a lot of verbiage on history or why author wrote book or where to buy a pencil for goodness sake. I'll have to check these out. Thanks Teoh!

      I know this is an old comment but I enjoyed “Figure Drawing Methods for Artists” by Pete Boerboom and Tim Proetel... no long text blah blah, just pictures. The link is not an English video flip through but the book is sold in English as well

    Thanks for these reviews - I've been considering buying Liz Steel's book. I does look as though there isn't much text. Are the chapter headings the same in the 2 books?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 років тому

      There's not a lot of text indeed. Each tip is just a short paragraph. The two books have different chapters as they talk about different subjects.

    What would you suggest for Painting people and architects for beginners. Thanks

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  5 років тому

      For people. There is a book by Lynne Chapman which is good. For architecture, probably a book on perspective by Brehm Matthew

    I'd be interested on the book on sketching people . I still find it difficult to sketch busy scenes, it can be hard knowing where to start.

    Is architecture easy subject?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  6 років тому

      It's not, but the more you practice, the easier it gets.

    • @lawrencemingson6562

      Just so you know, the hardest part is that most people expect this subject to be artistic, it is, however, it also deals with the project itself.

    The architecture book looks like a good start for beginners, the people book looks too much like something for middle ground artists to give them something to do.
