The Country Code advert must have been a reaction to the two hot summers in the decade. It was also the first and last time I put ice cubes into a beer at the pub because it was so hot. Some of these adverts are quite good because future directors were employed. Ridley Scott may have famously done the Hovis advert (when he was 36) but there were some others.
That Country Code one was kind of lame, not where they were showing the dangers of fire but really, "follow the Country Code"? They should have borrowed Smoky Bear.
I remember most of the Follow the country code ads, they should bring them back because if you walk down any country lane it is swamped with rubbish thrown by the lazy stupid car driving public and we have all the fires by either deliberate stupid kids or stupid ignorant people who should know better.
The pastilles aren't like that now, they're smaller, sour and have less colour and not sugar on top life was worth living and was actually enjoyable then
