  • This recipe makes enough cake started mix to give to three of your friends and one for you to make your own cake.
    ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ RECIPE BELOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
    Starter mix:
    3 cups apple juice
    1/2 cup white granulated sugar
    2 tsp lemon juice
    1 package (1/4 oz) active dry yeast (about a tablespoon)
    1 jar (10oz) maraschino cherries undrained - I suggest you halve or quarter the cherries
    1- 7 oz package or 1 1/4 cups dried apricots chopped
    1- 15 oz can of crushed pineapple undrained
    DAY ONE:
    Warm apple juice, sugar and lemon juice until it reaches 110 F (warm)
    Add in the yeast.
    In a large (at least 2 quart) jar or bowl add in the jar of cherries and juice.
    Add in the apple juice mixture and stir.
    Lightly cover with a very loose lid or loosely placed plastic wrap.
    Stir one more time that day
    DAY TWO:
    Stir mixture twice
    DAY THREE:
    Stir in raisins and stir once more that day
    DAY FOUR:
    Stir in apricots and stir once more that day
    DAY FIVE:
    Stir in pineapple.
    Separate the mixture equally into 4 - two cup jars.
    Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
    Cake:
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    2 tbsp butter
    Above three ingredients are for the topping.
    1 package (as big as you can find or 18oz) yellow cake mix
    1 jar of starter mix (about 2 cups)
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    3 large eggs
    *****NOTE ****** The above cake recipe is the one I made in the video, which was okay.
    I think that the recipe below would be better.
    1 yellow or golden cake mix (18 oz size)
    8oz cream cheese at room temperature
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 cup white granulated sugar
    3 large eggs
    Mix this together with the one jar of starter and then sprinkle with the brown sugar/nuts topping.

    That intro never gets old. I've been watching you since I was 9 years old. I am 22 now and the amount of comfort you bring me is something I'll never be able to fully express. I know to people it's just a recipe channel, but to me, it's a way to go back to the peace of my childhood.

    This cake is so good my mom used to make it and my daughter's grandmother used to make it too. You got to keep adding the different fruit to the juice. You passed the juice to your friend so they can start theirs, that why it's called a friendship cake

    My step mom used make a similar cake when I was a kid. It had fruit cocktail in it. It was good. Great to see new videos from you. ❤

      Yes, I think that the fruit cocktail would be a lot easier and would probably taste just about the same, lol.

    I have been watching your videos for years. Love your channel and your simple and clear recipes. Do you still have your geese measuring cups? If so, please allow them to make a nostalgic appearance in an upcoming video, please!

      Thank you very much. I’m a young mom from California living in Cameroon. My family love your recipes and the all time favorite has to be the peanut butter cup cheesecake! So glad you made a return to YT! I look forward to the geese sightings very soon. I appreciate you! ❤

    This is the wildest cake I've ever seen. The end result did look an awful lot like the Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake I made that a few times years ago now I want to make it again

    What an interesting idea for a cake! Thanks for sharing it. Loved the blooper. I didn't know about the shrink-ray hitting cake mixes but that'll screw up a lot of those cake mix recipe books from the 80s and 90s, I'm sure. Damn. Was there any particular fruit flavor that came through stronger than others? I was thinking maybe the cherry since it had the juice in there as well, but you had a lot of pineapple too.

      @yoyomax12  3 місяці тому +1

      It had a fruit cocktail type of flavour if you know what I mean. Cherry was probably the most dominant though.

    UA-cam should her videos popping up everywhere. Ashe’s been dedicated to this platform for so many years. I have been watching her since I found her. The first video I saw was a spoon she was decorating with glitter. I wish I could see that video again. Ms. Yoyomax12, can you please pin that video on my comment please❤❤❤

    I made this last year, was not worth it lol could’ve just used the fruit out of the can

    • @yoyomax12
      @yoyomax12  3 місяці тому

      Agreed. I thought the five days of fermenting would give it an unusual flavour, but it tasted pretty much like canned fruit.

  • @frankiemangano6704
    @frankiemangano6704 4 місяці тому

    So, you’re calling that mixed fruit purée that you prepared for 5 days in advance as a starter? Because I thought that you were going to call it as a mixed fruit purée throughout the whole video. Plus, I believe you said that it was the main star in this recipe. But regardless of that, I guess that it was a good thing that you found that mixed fruit purée to be very fruity and quite flavorful as well. Because mixed fruit flavored bases do have a tendency to have a very complex flavor, because of all of the fruit that’s inside of them.

    • @yoyomax12
      @yoyomax12  3 місяці тому

      It was very tasty, but not really worth the effort of the five days of fermenting with the yeast as that flavour wasn't really detectable

    you had so many disasters in this vid, oh no! from the juice not pouring and then dripping in the most annoying way possible, to your camera lens-planting into the bowl of cake mix 🤣

      Strangely, once you bake this, that "boozy" flavour is lost. Not what I expected.
