Reading the Rough Draft // Writing Vlog and Final Thoughts

- Rereading the rough draft of my project DE! I've been wanting to read this book even before I began writing it. After printing out my rough draft, which I decided was not a zero draft because of how long I've been writing, I finally got to read the rough draft! I can't believe that I'm finally at the place with my high fantasy novel that I am ready to start editing!

Woot woot! Congrats on the re- read- I am so gonna try this when I am done writing my zero draft.
You can do it! It's so hard not to line edit tho!
Your past experience with line editing too early really resonates with me. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are generally my strengths, as well as vocabulary (foreign languages are my passion). When reading, I am super alert to mistakes and awkward/poor phrasing. I criticise myself relentlessly for missing a comma or overusing semi-colons.
However, allowing these concerns to take precedent means missing the bigger picture, as you rightly said. This is why I have struggled with rereading and editing in the past. I have to control myself and focus more on having a good story to edit in the first place. No wonder I have often felt that one of my ideas made no sense in the long run, LOL!
Drawing a LOT of inspiration from this video!
I so feel that!! I'm really happy you've drawn a lot of Inspo from this video!
Right now I'm working on editing a lot of client projects. My goal is to get to finish the second draft of my novel and am hoping to completely re-write it (again) for my Camp April project.
Love that! That's an ambitious Camp project, keep me updated!
I pantsed my first act and then line edited it to the moon and back - YUGE mistake! Currently attempting to reorganize my entire plot before rewriting it.
Just subscribed, love your calming energy and that gorgeous hair :)
You got this!! And thank you! So glad you found the channel!
I love you're video's, they inspire me to not only dream and think about the concept of writing but actually want to start it; so thank you :)
Oh my gosh thank you!
Currently writing a contemporary novel, really enjoying it, cannot wait to read this and all your books!❤️❤️
Thanks! And good luck on your book!
I love watching you talk about writing because your brain works so similarly to mine! I love looking at my stats as I write!
Aw thanks! Stats are the best, they're what keep reminding me of the progress I make.
I've begun using stats regularly since subscribing to this channel.
@@Musicienne-DAB1995 That's awesome!!
I love the idea of taking notes in the notebook while you read. Now, I want to try that out because I do the same thing with in-line comments trying to line edit xD
Yeah totally! It worked really well for me!
Girl this is so impressive! You should be proud of how productive you are.
Thank you!! Obviously some days are better than others but thanks!
Wow your hair is a m a z i n g
Hahaha thank you! It's a blessing and a curse, it does this and only this!
Right
Even though I'm more of a plotter. I love watching your videos. I love your dedication towards your writing and that inspires me a lot.
Thank you!
i think the different writing styles of writers is so interesting. i, for example, would never edit this way. I always edit in Microsoft word, by reading it out loud. but to each their own. ty for uploading.
I edit later drafts in Microsoft word but find this the best way for me to not focus on the small issues during the first draft. Thanks for watching!
I've binged a bunch of your videos tonight. Loved your video and your process. I printed my rough draft out and wrote both notes and line edits on it. I think next time I will do what you did. I also make pretty clean zero drafts as I wrote probably because I use google docs and its hard to ignore the red marks.
Thanks! I found this way to be very beneficial. I hope you find it to be helpful as well!
Good going to YOU on your read through/edit!
Best of luck to you ALWAYS...🤩.
Thank you!
i've literally never seen a more realistic writer vlog
Thanks!!
@@SaraLubratt eek you replied!!
@@tumblrgvrl Of course! I try to respond to as many comments as I can :)
Great vlog Sara :)
Thank you!
When I’m done with the second draft of my book I’m going to type it on a typewriter
That's so cool!
It is definitely important to start with the 'big picture' editing first and then work your way down! That must have been so frustrating to spend time line editing your rough draft only to remove that whole section!
Definitely, but I learned from my mistakes and moved forward!
Currently writing- or, as some would say, typing- my Fantasy and Sci Fi series. Definitely will try this. Hopefully my fingers won’t be so cramped afterwards… 😅
:)
I enjoyed this! I’m a new subscriber!
Yay! Thank you!
Congrats!!! That was inspiring!!
Thank you! I'm so glad!
I love it!
Thanks for watching!
Happy to support
@@funnyvideos..375 Thank you!
I love watching your Chanel!
Thanks!
i feel this so hard, i thought my re-read was going to take me a week-it took two months
Right?? Why does that happen? 😂
I'm in the same phase RIght now. 150 pages.
Nice!!
I have 500 pages 🤣 not really getting to print out these but trying to edit chapter by chapter daily through my laptop
Nice! That's what I'm doing now too!
Oh boi good luck editing cause that looks thick
It was a long process but the first round went well!
I enjoyed watching the video and hope you've gotten further into your project DE now? I'm still in the process of writing my art thief story but did write a short 1000-word story of it for my course I'm taking. Just not sure how to send it to you for you to read and give feedback on.
How many pages is it?
Currently 189 Word document pages, about 87,000 words.
Hi !!
If you are a writer.
Your book that you write,is that published?
It is not yet, but I’m updating my followers on my journey so they will know when it is :)
@@SaraLubratt I'm waiting. Best of luck👍👍👍 God bless you☺☺☺
@@parminderrayat76 Thank you!
How long does it take you to go through the entire editing process after writing the first draft? I'm trying to get through my story, and it is taking forever.
The entire editing process or draft 2? Draft 2 took me several months of being really intentional about it.

@@SaraLubratt Now I'm thinking from the first time you started writing to when you call it quits--have gone through all your line edits and proofreads, etc.. Why I ask because I see no end for mine :/ I just decided to just skip a lot of the editting process because I don't think I would ever finish if I did all the types of edits. I think I once saying you are writing a high fantasy of about 250,000--that's about mine as well and that seems impossible to finish. ugh
What's the name of your book
I call it DE. It is not published yet
If I sent a book I'm writing (not done btw) could you give feedback?
I'm not in a place where I have a lot of free time right now, but there is a group on Facebook called "Beta Readers" where you can trade your writing with others in exchange for feedback!
I would love to be a friend of you 💞💞💞💞💞
❤️
Why did you feed the camel a Dr Pepper drink? That's not funny.
The camel's owners told us he liked it. They don't know why, when they adopted him, the previous owners told them that. It's only one can and it's only once in like a month or so is what I was told
