    If I had to identify one quality which all these late-period works by Fauré share, it would one of yearning and striving to transcend from one plane of musical and spiritual existence to another higher realm, one only partially visible. One almost but not quite entirely reachable, but still intensely felt as if one could. Extraordinary really...

      You want to listen to the Rachmaninov sonata for cello and piano to hear a notoriously difficult piano part!

    The slow movement is in C minor rather than Eb major.

    The last movement is not in B-flat major, it's G minor that eventually modulates to G major
