Scientist, also known as Hopeton Brown, is a Jamaican-born sound engineer who became famous in the 1970s for his work with the Legendary producer and mixer King Tubby. He has worked with many notable Jamaican musicians, including Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Roots Radics, and The Aggrovators, Lee Scratch Perry and many others. Scientist’s personal mixing style spun reggae dub into pop culture. He is known for his reverberation, spacial, cosmic sounds dubbed over traditional roots reggae tunes. Scientist continues to make music and perform today, having created over 40,000 tracks and counting with several hundred different artists.
