    Thanks, Tomlin! You are absolutely right.
    A few years ago, a guitar teacher got me playing blues solos using just two notes, no bends, just two notes. After five minutes he allowed me three notes and so we progressed up to five notes. That was one of the best music lessons I ever had. It forced me to use timing, expression and groove. I am trying to apply that to harmonica now 🙂 Great video, mate!

    Makes me much more aware of all the notes and everything you can do with the draws, blows, bends in a single hole and even more in two holes. Makes you more focused on the roles each note can play. Thanks as usual!

    In the States we have 10 digit phone numbers.. I was imaging the other day, the endless combinations of numbers in one area code.. Multiply a ten hole diatonic harp by two for blow, and draw, and it is mind blowing... Thanks for the lesson, Tomlin...

    2 hole improv is definitely something I need to work on. Thanks for the reminder, Tomlin.

    A great idea and video. I think there is so much that you can do with just two holes and you just proved that.

    Tomlin, this is a fantastic idea. I did the same when I was having trouble with the 2 draw whole step bend. Once I learned to do it I would play over your 12 barblues backing track and alternate between the 1,2 and 2 whole step. Vast improvement! I'm going to apply this asap.

    4 draw bend! you hit it right on the nail, that's one I always turn to when trying improvisation. I'll try this exercise for sure.

    Definitely an interesting idea. I know that Guso has a lesson called blues harmonica rope a dope which pretty much only involves the bottom three holes.
    If you don't mind Tomlin, I have a few requests. First, I would love some more country blues stuff. And secondly, I would love to see if you could do the saxophone solo from Blue Moon by Frank Sinatra. I know it's a pretty strange request, but I would love to be able to play it on harmonica.

      Glad you enjoyed the lesson :-). Thanks for the lesson requests - I'll see what I can do but I am struggling to keep up with everything I get requested to do.

    I don't know if I understand this exercise. Should I use two holes olny in one bar and change holes in next bar?

    • @danielfaller5617
      @danielfaller5617 5 років тому +1

      I think you use two holes all the way through the dozenz of continuous 12 bars that you play at a time. ( so no, 2 holes for 12 bars) You chose any two of the ten at the beginning of a practice session.
      Still i think your idea is also a good one.☺

    by Jason Ricci. I tried this today with hole 1 and 2 and it works great over the 12 bar blues. Thanks and keep it up!
