Fossil Bonanza on Pacific Coast

  • Fleeting nature of fossils exposed to elements prompted us to document them by traveling coastal California. Even though no collecting allowed in most of the places we visited, especially with regard to remains of vertebrates, we had fun by finding them, taking pictures and leaving in place for others to experience the same joy.

    How would I get one of the crab fossil??

      Hi. You can search Ebay for "Pinnixa" but do not buy what's "buy now" because it's too expensive. With some luck, you will eventually see a lot with reasonable price.

      Hi there. It depends on the status of the land. In most cases, vertebrae remains (fossils or not) are off limits in California.

      I never will never understand why collecting is prohibited when there is no effort to preserve them.
