+Sripali Dassanayake I am just becoming aware of how little explanation of the Abhidhamma is found in English. I know this from the Thai and the Pali, and understand it from that perspective, which is easier than in English to Understand and Grasp. I feel the necessity to publish some podcasts on the Abhidhamma. I find it irrelevant if the Buddha taught the Abhidhamma or not, rather, one can test the truth of the teachings and find out for oneself if they are true or not. Dhamma is Dhamma and can always be circumstantiated. If it can't, its not Dhamma.
Very appreciated. I have the Pali texts books of Abhidahamma from Pariyatti and it is challenging because there is a lack of reference points in the reading. It's a tapestry of historical proportion which requires an educated perspective. I am so glad to see these videos and the handbook can be downloaded for free from internet. I am so happy so see this and am surprised I didn't see it before.
This video is incorrectly titled "Adhidhamma". Please correct the spelling to Abhidhamma so that these excellent lectures by Ven Bodhi will appear in search results.
i would say just contemplate what the Abhidhamma states, and see it, end of story. Seeing is always superior to academic understanding. Only seeing the Dhamma brings Magga. Understanding brings seeing. So if one thinks one understands, and still does not yet see, then one has not yet truly understood
