Good decision on the Ventline Ventfan. I installed one on my Promaster City and am very happy with it. I also installed a PWM (Pulse Wave Modulation) speed controller with the fan. The controller allows me to vary the fan speed, therefore the airflow and noise. It’s a nice feature when trying to sleep during the night.
that's an awesome idea for a road trip during summer time keep it up.
Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing I've been looking at those roof fans and trying to decide if I should install it or hire someone. Your roof look like the way I'd like to have mine. I just found you. I know you're thinking of reversing the fan, maybe you should have 2 fans. let me know
You can do it girl. Just take your time. We have 2 small rechargeable fan inside the van for air circulation.
How's that fan working a year later? I also have a sienna and was thinking of doing the same. Any leaking issues, etc?
Good idea my friend
Thank you very much
Good job you folks. I have same van & year. I’m slowly doing a build out over many months. Party copying Eric & Rob but also ideas from old VW campers. I’m going all electric via Ecoflow Delta Pro. Your video help fill me in on most Q&As I had on the vent install. I’ll go with same fan location. Thanks & happy trails
Thanks for watching. Enjoy the journey and make some memories.
Did you have any issues with water leaking into the lights? I’m thinking the same but also thinking I need to seal it as well. Thanks for the video and the idea.
Not at all. Thanks for watching our video.
Two suggestions. As your cord came down around the struts you may have a water intrusion spot. Some installers keep the cord in the area where the hatch rubber trim is and loop it at the bottom. Any water rolling down the cord will continue down and out the bottom. This of course may be unnecessary if behind the taillight where you put it there's a hole and sloping surface to the outside. Also put more caulk around the fan housing AND the screw heads.
Very true it's a bad idea to make holes in the roof. In states with rain monsoons. Its gonna leak from the pressure of the water.
Now subscriber from FB 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
You guys are so handy! Love everything you guys have done to the Sienna! I was nervous for you when you cut the roof! Lol
Thank you very much! We are nervous too...LOL
Horrible explanation
Sorry about that. Will do better next time ✌️
Nice job! What’s the narrow roof box in your video?
How loud is that roof fan and does it move a lot of air? Nice job !!
The fan is very quiet and it moves enough air to keep the condensation off the windows. We also have 2 small usb chargeable fan to circulates the airflow of the van.
Oh the feeling in your stomach when you have to cut a hole in your roof .
What kind of screws did you use to attach the solar panel brackets to the crossbars pls? Were they metal tap screws? How many? Have you had any issues with them?
We used 4 Stainless self tappings screws. No problem encountered.
So did you connect that vent fan to that Energizer power station? If so, did you run the wire through the car to make it connect all the way at the back?
yes, we connect our vent fan to our Energizer.
So, how much does this bring interior temp down in 100f degree weather?
Summer houston dweller here. The best you can hope for without using AC is for inside temp to equalize with outside temp. In practice, with very good airflow, your inside will be 1 to 3 degrees above outside temp. To cool down even more, i put on a wet shirt and run a usb fan on my body. This effectively creates a very small evaporative cooler on the part where it matters most, your skin
May I ask where you got that fold up awning attached to the roof?
Hi Aaron, we got our Awning from Amazon. The brand is Offroading Gear Awning.
