Great podcast! - cool to know he started WS02 at 38. - Pleasantly surprised with the answer that he wouldn't have sold if it was his decision & he would have grown the company more!
Thank you so much for your dedication and time , it was great podcast , each question and each answer had lot to take , thanks again Dr. Sanjeewa and Neon
A valuable and positive conversation. Avinya Foundation has hidden learning patterns that are not often seen in our common society. I'm very thankful to Mr. Sanjeeva Weerawarana and those lecturers and your concept.
Truly grateful to have you as my client. As a fellow entrepreneur I wish to build something as big as you have and most of all stay as humble as you are. Cheers Sanjiva !
patta program ekak .Great discussion . But i think a diamond like wso2 is better than that. 600mill isnt a big deal in this global industry. Just nearly 8 10 oil ships for SL. I would say its an early exist. Sanjeewa’s little baby girl was married off just after she hits puberty.
Great talk! Hmm, I was thinking about our entire academic system. I don't think undergraduates have challenging problems to solve during their final year theses/projects. If industry and academia work together to create more challenging problems for them, there will be more product companies in the future. What I have seen is that our programmers know how to use frameworks (let's say services) but not how to invent frameworks (products).
According to conventional wisdom, he owns 5% of a $600 million company. Investors may increase its value to $1 billion or $2 billion over the years, making his 5% stake more valuable. Not only him, but other employees who own a very small percentage will also see their shares become more valuable. For WSO2 to achieve this growth, the company must bring more revenue to the country.
Dr Sanjiva has always been an exemplary leader, coach and motivator. If we had a few more people like him in Sri Lanka, all our problems will fix themselves given some time.
Good Discussion Sanjeeva Aiya. Not sure, if you remember, i met you in 2005/2006, while you guys were in the Incubator in Metro Tower, and i was a undergrad back then. :D You have come long way. Good luck with the future plans.
Thank you for bringing up the gems of Sri Lanka. wish you all the success, Mr. Sanjeewa.

May we have more and more people like him in Sri Lanka

Great Talk!
Good knowledgeable presenter who has done his homework.
Absolutely. Steering the discussion really well. 👍👍👍
To become a successful entrepreneur, a bit of stubbornness is essential.
Great Questions. Hats off 👒

Dan exist wela iwarai eka nisa meyata aye income enne na oya company eken
He gets an income because he is still the CEO of the company
He may get a small share and a salary.
(They say slice of melon is better than a full grape)

36:36 Exactly! This idea should be internalized. People don't think outside the box because of such deeply rooted cultural perspectives.
