  • House Tour of Marilyn Monroe and Hollywood Collector Greg Schreiner
Check out our website at www.moviepropking.com and check back here each day for a new video.
    From theMarilynMonroesite.com
Greg Schreiner owns a comprehensive collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, encompassing furniture items from Marilyn's final home, autographs, cancelled bank checks, including a check to Eunice Murray dated August 4, 1962, film scripts, documents and original costume sketches. Mr. Schreiner also possesses one of the largest private collections of Marilyn Monroe screen worn and publicity gowns.

In 2006, items from his personal collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, including nine gowns, original costume sketches and custom dolls toured the world, with stops in the US and Japan. In 2007, the Texas State Fair was proud to exhibit nine Marilyn Monroe gowns from the collection. The display was the most diverse exhibit of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia ever to be showcased in one place. To view Greg being interviewed at the exhibit, please click here. The Hollywood Museum showcased Greg's collection in 2008, and Greg's collection is touring again in 2009.

Mr. Schreiner is the President and a founding member of the longest running fan club in existence today, Marilyn Remembered. Each year since 1982, Greg has arranged and facilitated the Marilyn Monroe Memorial Service, held on August 5 at Westwood Memorial Park, Marilyn's resting place.
He is also the pianist, narrator and producer of "Hollywood Revisited," a cabaret style extravaganza allowing audience members to experience what it's like to watch celebrities walk the red carpet as their favorite Tinseltown classics come to life. This stunning musical revue showcases a truly dazzling lineup of costumes actually worn by the stars in the original Hollywood films. Set to the music that defined the times, this show leaves viewers in awe as they learn about and come close enough to touch these historic original masterpieces of old-time Hollywood.
Mr. Schreiner has performed as a soloist with the Los Angeles Concert Orchestra, Santa Monica College Symphony, UCLA Symphony, Cypress Pops Orchestra and performed on the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics. In addition to having several recordings in release, he performed the Shostakovitch and Piano Concerto for the PBS series In Search Of Wisdom and was the composer/performer for the educational series Masters Of The Silent Screen. He is on the piano faculty of Cerritos College and is the accompanist for the Mansfield Chamber Singers.
    Email Greg at cgriffis55@ca.rr.com
"Marilyn touches all of us in some way through her spirit. It's amazing the emotions she elicits. Everyone seems to want to hold and protect her. I cannot think of any other film star who has that power and influence over people."
    ~Greg Schreiner

To this day, so much controversy - about her, about property etc. All I can say is this: I have been to Mr. Schreiner's house twice - in 1997 and in 2002 following the annual Memorials held at Westwood. He opened his home to everyone and everyone I met there was extremely nice - fans (from all over the world), people from Marilyn films, industry people - everyone very gracious and kind. That's all. The MM mystique! Two days ago I saw a young woman (20-ish) wearing a Marilyn T-shirt. I know darn well that her mother probably had not been born until well after Marilyn died. Who else rates that kind of phenomenon?

It's so wonderful to see all the gorgeous MM items you have,,i have been a fan of MM for many years, but it's difficult to get the really wonderful items because they usually cost a fortune. After watching this video, it was encouraging to hear that some of the items were not that expensive, I'm still hoping to find that one special item of MM's ;)

Good for Mr. Greg Schreiner! He is (in many ways!) honouring Marilyn's memory. I have a fairly small (but relatively good) collection of celebrity autographs - "playbills" and photographs, mostly of the big stars of yester-year, rather than today. A good friend got me interested some years back and I've greatly enjoyed it. And it can be a very good investment (!) certainly more than one will ever get via savings account at the local bank. A good many of my "finds" are framed - and up on my living-room wall. Why hide them in a dusty closet? Marilyn is a very high-ticket item as far as autograph collections go. Hmmm...I wonder if Mr. S. would trade my (1950) Mae West playbill (from"DIamond Lil") which has a very nice signature/note written by Miss West on the cover-page - for a "Marilyn" - "anything!" LOL! (I'm serious). Cheers to all!

Hello Nancy M: Not really, as I think the vast majority of thieves aren't very bright to say the least, and they wouldn't have a clue as to knowing anything about Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Joan Crawford and others from that era. No joke, a much younger person was over and pointed to the autographed, Joan Crawford "glossy" and wondered if that was my mother. I just said "no" and hoped he wouldn't start calling me "Christina." Of course, the joke flew over his head and I guess one has to be of a certain age to "get it" (like me!) LOL! Cheers from Niagara Canada!

Yes, definitely. No expert but had a bit of a Marilyn moment last year in lockdown and read a few books. Tried to read different approaches. I suspect medical blundering from her doctor. Interesting too that it was her housekeeper's very last shift and she reported the timeline all wrong. And the police found the washing machine on a cycle - at that time of the morning?? Medical enema leading to accidental overdose... I think, anyway. Poor, poor Marilyn

Its a fun hobby but I would not be putting my life savings into this stuff. I would not mind owning something Marilyn had if I was rich. Maybe a pair of heels or a lipstick. A Beatles guitar would be awesome too. But heck where would I put it? I agree it be best to put the money into helping the needy..But I admit Marilyn was special. I enjoyed seeing Elvis's stuff at Graceland too. They are part of history and they touched alot of people...

I mean, how long is this material gonna last no matter what you do to it now? My passion is genuine autographs and I have many. No MM yet, but Ginger Rogers, Gene Tierney, Jane Russell, Sandra Dee, Cyd Charisse, Stella Stevens are just a few I own now. I hope one day we can have a MM museum, that is after Anna Strasberg is long gone.

She actually accomplished her dream of being a major hollywood star, was friends with a lot of incredible people, not to mention slept with many of them, succeeded in becoming a good actress and an icon and was loved by many. I'm sure she had a lot of fun and happiness not available to ordinary people. And being that pretty must have brought her pleasure as well. She was lonely, but not unloved. I'm sure if she settled as easily as your average woman, or if her needs were as simple, she could easily end up marrying some nice average guy and had kids, if those are your criteria of happiness. She lived a short life, but it was fuller than most lives. And with her sensitivity, which made her what she is, perhaps it just had to be that way. Not ours to judge if she lived a bad life or not.

Buying memories very often could be good investment. So when somebody said it’s better to help poor people then spend money on MM dress I am not agree. Working hard we not only provide ourselves with food, house, car everything we need to have good life but many people like to have hobbies. Some people travel all the time, some collect shoes, bags, books, paintings, china..... some hobbies waist of money and some can be very profitable in the future. Even after 58 years MM still popular and many people would like to buy some her staff. This man not only has opportunity every day see and touch things MM owned, used, worn but any time he can sell and have money to live comfort life. Personally I help only animals shelters

well, that's exactly my point. You say it's his earned money and at some point he will give it to the public. What bothers me is that people that are starving around the world with their kids dieing in their arms right now, don't have time to wait for the wealthy decide for that some point to arrive. That is why it sickens the pit of my stomach to see people that earn their money spending it in such an anti-helpful way to society. If I was rich, helping others would come over Marilyn's stuff

How do you know he doesn't donate to charity or volunteer with a charity? His money, his choice. Marilyn is a cultural & film icon. I'm all for preserving her memory. She's an integral part of Hollywood history.

The happy birthday dress went for 4.8 million not 1 million I've seen the auction.

Hi Nanny, he's talking about the first time the dress went up for auction in 1999, the 4.8mil auction hadn't happened when this was filmed. The dress sold in 1999 at an auction in New York City for over $1.26 million. Canadian billionaire Jim Pattison subsequently purchased the dress in 2016, for $4.8 million.

@@ThePropKing I was lucky enough to see this dress when it was displayed in Ireland prior to the 2016 auction. Up until then it was the only time it had left USA.
