Juliet, thank you for commenting on Angelina's breathy, light exhales at the end of some phrases. In a recent reaction from a vocal coach brand new to Angelina, she expressed concerns that those exhales resulted from Angelina pushing her voice too hard.
After following Angelina for almost 4 years, that didn't seem right to me. I appreciate you verifying that!
Barry. I to can`t get away from that reaction. It`s possible there was a point or two in the comments there, but I guess that reactor was all aout the rules of learning HOW to sing, and had no idea about who Angelina is, and that Angelina surely is far beyond having to learn to sing.
The "barefeet angel" is all in control of her craft, so to her it`s all about putting all of her immense amount of tools into ever better and more perfect use.
And I guess that is simply by practicing, - doing it the Angelina way.

Yes Barry, I saw that 'vocal coach' reaction criticizing her breath sounds. She uses those breaths artistically as part of the performance. Her producers could easily remove them from her recordings, but they know what she is doing. She has said that her music will always be real. That means no autotune or pitch correction & real singing at concerts, not lip-synching to a recording.

She is simply unique and with a wonderful melodic perception. This interpretation (not a cover for me) with one of the authors of the song (Toby Gad) playing the piano, is curative for the your soul and the soft background accompaniment of the piano and cello give her a beautiful silky backdrop, until that wonderful whispered final phrase "... but you are just a boy".💛🧡❤

Guys are narrowly focused and want to focus on one thing at a time, while women focus on many things at the same time! We are ment to compliment each other not be the same! We also grow in our ability to compromise because of those differences! If i only had relationships with other guys I would not reach the same potential as having a close relationship to a woman and visa versa! The official music video has Angelina walking through the streets of London. It’s the same vocal track as this version except with more contemporary instrumentation. The big difference is that the stripped down version allows you to hear the details in Angelina’s voice more clearly.
Toby Gad is a cowriter of the song along with the original artist BC Jean. Toby also coproduced Beyoncé’s version.
Toby’s Piano Diaries project has him taking past songs that he wrote or cowrote and reworking them with different artists. He asked Angelina to perform this song for his album so at the end of the video it says she appears “courtesy of Republic Records.” I’m wondering if the other songs that they worked on will be released as Angelina songs and through Republic.Records. Since Piano Diaries is a Toby Gad project she is technically a guest vocalist but she still has obligations to Republic so anything released by her under her name I would assume will be under Republic. Toby can still be a producer as she has worked with several producers since Million Miles which is common these days. She will probably still work with others in the future. It sometimes depends on the type of song being recorded and the type of sound wanted.
All the incredible musical expressions Angelina comes up with......each time so incredibly rich,so incredibly mesmerizing....so incredibly original in her song interpretations.....I can hardly wait when her originals hit the airwaves.....and we get into her classic one hundred originals.....and i bet there will be thousands of vocalists doing covers of her songs....even imitating her style....but that's as close as they'll get to this vocal Angel. Hi. I am no vocal coach, and not even a singer, but omg, is she doing some kind of low-register/vocal fry/wide-vibrato (almost staccato) combination in one word, "boy"? Is that even a thing? And seamlessly, effortlessly switching between belt and piano (the musical term, not the instrument), while saturating every word with feeling and emotion? Is there anything she cannot do? Does the non-Angelina world have a clue what's coming at them?? I can't wait to see them falling over like bowling pins when they discover this amazing wonder-of-the-world.

Great reaction Juliet, I prefer this stripped down version from Toby Gad's upcoming album "Piano Diaries," which is a re-imagination of his biggest hit songs he has co-written with different people. He is finding new young artists to sing the songs & he asked Angelina to do this one. The music video is more produced & poppy with more instrumentation backing her. Toby films her walking rapidly through the streets of London as if she had just left the "Boy" & was walking off her frustration. The MV has the same vocal with a different instrumental track, that covers over her voice a little, that’s why most people prefer the Diaries version without realizing why.
Angelina is a master with dynamics and nuances, range really isn't necessary, but she has that too!

A cover only in the sense that what Beyoncé made was a cover of the song written by BC Jean and Toby Gad, originally performed by Jean in 2008. Beyoncé's cover was that same year.
In this video the pianist is Toby Gad .. the Piano Diaries are a celebration of his hit songs. He invited Angelina to England with him to perform .. this is the sixth version I have heard. I am not sure if it is really a cover when a singer is standing next to the composer as they jam to create a different version of the song.

UA-camr and Angelina fan James Thiel was given special permission by Toby Gad to release the video. The video itself is from a Livestream of this performance and James was given the audio source to work with. Just to let you know before you get a little surprised, she is wearing shoes at this event. This rarely happens and may appear shocking, but not to her longtime fans. From time to time, she will run in to a situation where the venue is simply enforcing their own rules and policies that they have and/or possibly addressing a safety concern as well. For those who say it's because she is singing in a place that serves food/drinks or it's due to hygiene, there are laws against this, it's not true. My family owned a restaurant for years and have known friends who owned restaurants and this is not the case. There are no state or federal laws regulating this. Last year, when she was invited to Le Bal in Paris, France to be a debutante and performer, she wore shoes when she sang. Basically, if she can, she will!

Angelina's been doing appearances and interviews to promote the song of course, and she has said that new music would be out in September. She couldn't say what, but boy did she want to. She can be just adorable. As part of this, she and Toby performed at the Ivor Awards in London. Her dress for the red carpet stuff was held together by one tiny clasp in the front, and you worry that if she took a deep breath there would more of Angelina on display than should be. Yikes ... What to wear when performing is something to consider. Yap island in the South Pacific, all anybody wears is a sarong skirt. Do you dress like your audience? ...👣

Angelina is the answer for any person having a bad day. Almost instant relaxation of any stressed out muscle in your body with the first sound of that gorgeous and textured voice. This is our happy place.
I thought this was an especially beautiful production with the church as the backdrop, not to mention the acoustics. I expect this to be a magical year for our barefoot princess, a story-teller supreme, gifted with a voice like none other. Collaborating now with Toby Gad only adds to the excitement of her future releases.

I enjoy how go through the performances--and the Vegas concert is a good example of her stage presence. It was somewhat like a gathering of friends and family---being on stage for her is coming home.
