Recently discovered this song through Midnight Diner, but I can’t help but feel nostalgic when hearing this. Sounds like the Japanese songs my sister would play when I was a kid back in the early 2000s. This song just has that same feel to it.
Its very reminiscent of the Pillows, Walrus, and Supercar. This was posted around 2010 i think, but i wonder when the song was originally recorded. I dig it as well!
Hello from America. I wish more Americans would explore the wonderful diamonds in the rough Netflix has. All that needs to be done is leave your comfort zone and try a trip to Japan. Yes you likely will have to read a subtitle, but the reward is so worth it. I am watching the Japanese series 'Midnight Dinner' and this is the song played during the closing credits. I fell in love with it so I had to go out to UA-cam and check it out. Great song thank you.
All the food shows! Gourmet Samurai, Flavorful Origins, Street Food, etc. There are great Kdramas, Asian historical fiction, Nordic murder mysteries, etc. So much to offer.
@@hiroshichan3130 - the series were recommended by a croatian colleague to me, a romanian, both living in Prague, the Czech Republic. You'd be surprised to hear how far these series have made it. And as @jrgilbert mentioned, it really is a diamond in the rough. Even for Japanese cinema standards is doesn't rank very high in terms of visual appeal. Or even acting for that matter. But what it lacks in flashiness it makes up for in honesty, simplicity, emotion and warmth, as it quickly became possibly the most soothing thing I have ever watched. Within the span of the first two episodes from the original series, it became our favourite show to watch during our lunch break when working from home.

Heard this song during the end credits of Midnight Diner on Netflix and it sounded just like a song that the Dutch singer, Samantha Steenwijk, sings (can't remember the name of the song). Decided to do a search on UA-cam to see if it was her (obviously not :-) ) but still pleasantly surprised to find this video here. Loved the song.
I stumbled across Midnight Diner a little while ago and it's been steadily, but quietly growing on me ever since. I was happy to see the closing song credits listed and find it here. Reminds me of new wave bands I listened to as a teenager in a good way!

Even the feeling of the video is very early 2000's. Someone mentioned it and you can definitely hear it but this is my first time seeing the video. I just love coming back to this show when I want something chill to watch. If you love slice of life, MD is definitely for you.

My mother and I recently started Midnight Diner and we both definitely enjoy it. It gives my mother a sense of nostalgia (her growing up in a Japanese household in America with her Tokyo born mother). I love Japanese food and Japanese culture (hoping to move to Tokyo), and Midnight Diner brings out everything that I could ask for. Master, thank you for everything!

再放送を見てよかったので調べたらすでに解散してた。ただアニメfairy taleのOPを歌ってたのであの曲の人だったのかと後で気がついた。

2014年、再放送みて、この局を知ったのが中３。受験勉強しながら見てた。
バターライス作って食べてました。
七年たって、今年就活生。
なんともやるせないような切ないような気持ちになりますね。
ちょうど一次面接落ちたので染みるものがあります。
ドラマに凄く合ってる。閉店まで居座ってグダグダになって、外に出ると快晴。
しみったれた感じが残った夜明けの歌、という個人的な感想。

再放送で深夜食堂初めて見ましたがドラマ見てこの歌聞くと、同じ食べ物食べたくなってコンビニでその日放送されるテーマの食べ物買って同じの食べてる気分に浸りながらドラマ見てました（笑）

劇中の鈴木常吉の『思ひで』とのコントラストがきいてて、一気に感極まって泣いてしまったよ。

As a Japanese it warms my heart to hear about the international appeal of this show. Anime can be great but there is so much more to Japanese cinema.
