I tried it for about 10 years. Very unsatisfying. It is true that growth way out-performed value from 2009 to 2019. But there are too many value traps, like pharmaceutical companies that look good due to a one time, non-sustainable spike in earnings.
If his value fund “may” someday catch up to S&P500. Then why not just invest in S&P500 and sell when it starts going down. Sounds like a lot of work and not so great returns.
