I can't thank you enough for your video. Have a BG50 that would no longer crank. A new plug did not work. Cleaned it real good and replaced air & fuel filter and now she's running like a champ. Also own a 55G at another property and went ahead and did the same thing. You were 100% correct on the screws for side cover pull start. The 50 only takes 4 and are all the same size. The 55 the one in the top right is a different size. Thanks again this was so valuable. And to share both the 50 and 55 take the same Stihl air and fuel filters.
This is about the MOST ORGANIZED Video on any maintenance I have ever seen.... I cannot help to notice all the detail that people miss when recording a video for repair. there more often than not noise in the BG, dogs barking; neighbors yelling; children playing, radio and music impairing the tutorial; cars running... None of that here. Well Done.
Great job on this video. I confess I am guilty of running these machines and expecting them to function perfectly every time just by making sure they’ve got the right mix of gas and oil. the only other thing I do at the end of the season is run the gas completely out. Also I make sure that the gasoline I use is ethanol free. It’s more expensive, but it’s a lot cheaper than having to buy a new blower or a new carburettor or whatever. you’ve been successful at reminding me that a little maintenance can go along long way. Thanks to your video I don’t have to be afraid to try doing some things myself rather than running to the repair shop.
A family member just let me borrow the same one, and my goodness it takes forever to turn on,at least 20 pulls😂 I’m definitely gonna tune it up for them. great Video
Thanks for this video! I gave it a good clean, emptied the fuel, and cleaned off the spark plug. Didn’t replace a thing, but adjusting the spark plug gap and getting a mighty flame when torching my spark arrestor is what I think really did the trick. Didn’t start before and now it runs great!
Thanks alot for this video. My blower was bogging down like crazy. I was about to take it in for service. After watching your video, it gave me the confidence to perform the tune up myself. It was easy. I was expecting the spark arrester to be totally clogged, it wasn’t. I think the throttle screws needed adjustment. In any case, thanks!
Soo if if i tilt my bg55 on a slight angle it seems to run weaker. If i return the tube to a mor paralell position to the ground it seems to run smoother. No issues starting it. No issues really. I found it in a puddle, in a tsunami of a rain storm. It was most likely left behind by a blacktop crew. So its already paid for its self.
@@aaronsimmons6256 just got a new e312 spark plug. Its funny even warm when i restart it and give it throttle its does the brrrrr, brrr. Its as if i have to go lite for a bit b4 i can go full boar again.fyi I dont know crap about carburetors. If applicable. And i completly forgot about the air filter soo ill check that
@@joshuar3632 Mine sounded similar until I took out the spark arrestor and cleaned it with a blow torch flame. The carbon deposit inside the arrestor seemed to bog my blower down.
Just do an Amazon search for angled head needle nose pliers www.amazon.com/Z-Red-KWP2-Plier-Pliers/dp/B007QV4PZM/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=angled+head+needle+nose+pliers&qid=1601711179&sr=8-2
Great!! My plug Wire broke inside the rubber boot!! Now I'm screwed!! Gawd..all I wanted to do was put a new spark plug, gawd ima idiot..%#^&^$..crap!!
YOU FAILED TO MENTION THE OIL AND GAS MIXTURE. 40:1 IS BEST EVEN THOUGH THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTS 50:1 BUT THAT'S A POLLUTION REDUCTION INCENTIVE. IN THIS CASE, MORE LESS GAS:OIL IS BETTER AS YOUR BEARINGS WILL LAST A LOT LONGER

Really appreciate the video. I dont think I have ever seen someone do small engine work on what appears to be the dining room table though!

Hey thanks for the video! Love the kiddo running around in the background, mine do the same.

What was your issue, exactly? I've got a bogging issue and it's not the arrestor so I'm curious as to what your problem was and how you fixed it
Solid video, about to go do all the same and get mine looking as good as your's did at the end. And hopefully running the same as well.
Well explained and to the point...good job ..Now its time to fix my stihl. 👍👍👍👍
Great video. This is exactly the information I needed to do the job.
Beyond helpful, thanks!!
Sarcastically hats off to the Stihl engineers for making the spark plug so easy to get to and replace?!?! Cmon guys you have to be better than that. 😂
Wonderful video!! Very well done. Thanks!!
I chuckled seeing the Harkins cup... As I sit here drinking out of one. :p
Very helpful made it very easy
Very informative!! Thanks!
Excellent video. Thank you.
Excellent content!
Just needed this Great !!!!!!
That blower looks new before you even started! Hard to believe it’s 10 years old and has had no maintenance at all…
Very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks!
good descriptive video, but an impact driver to remove the screen? that think is like maybe 10 ft/lbs of torque.
The best.. tq very much
Legend mate thank you!
YOU CAN ALSO SOAK THE SPARK ARRESTOR IN BRAKE FREE TO RELEASE THE CARBON BUILDUP

Nice find! Did you try doing the basic maintenance on it to see if it runs better?

É impressão minha ou você está usando um chinelo brasileiro, havaianas?
I'm having trouble finding those types of pliers to buy. Anyone have a link?

Totally unnecessary to own a specialty pliers like that. I pulled my plug wire off by hand.

Doing this in the house with kids roaming around? What an amateur, Id never take you serious because of this...
