- Where to start...so much chaos...started out as organization but ended up being 50/50 organization and cleaning up the messes from said organization. Two days of work crammed into 28 minutes thanks to the magic of editing!
I know I said I'd share a link to the desktop vinyl, but it's really not very good vinyl so I don't feel comfy sharing - so sorry!
Bin clips were available in the Target dollar spot as of 12/29/24.
Pegboard sheets that are already painted white are available super reasonably from Home Depot, etc.
Everything else was stuff I already had! The drawer unit I keep referring to as my island is a non-standard size kitchen or bathroom base cabinet that I got at a Habitat for Humanity Restore a few years ago with an Ikea desktop for the top!
So nice to see a "real" craft room. Not fancy and lots of messes - like we all have! I also really appreciate that you didn't cut out the things that didn't work - I think we all can learn from each other's mistakes! I do think you (and I) would probably benefit from donating or giving away the stuff that we don't use anymore, rather than just keeping it in case. I finally learned that less with my latest craft room redo. Thanks for sharing!
I have watched several craftroom organizing videos today. Getting frustrated because not everyone can afford Ikea. Your video is the "real" video I have seen. Thank you for showing what you called fails and how you adjusted and made what you had work. That is what most of us have to do. Your space looks really nice. Thank you for sharing.
I'm the same way, I've been looking at "budget" videos and every single one has Ikea. Ikea is not budget, Ikea is expensive!
Finally, a realistic organizational video. Using what you have instead of running to ikea (mines 150 miles away, so no running here) or dollar tree to buy the pretties. Showing what didn't work was great. I'm having that problem now; last summers big reorganize has shown me what didn't work and how I move in my space so a reorganize is imminent.
As a paper crafter I use ribbon in relatively small amounts (though I have tons of options) so my storage solution was to cut 4 ft of each then use necktie hangers to hang them on small dowels, spaced using two vertical link chains on the back of my door. One advantage is that I can see all my ribbon choices at once. I have had it that way for 5 years and I love it. Hardware store can be great resource for DIY storage.
I love your space. And, I like how you showed that it's okay to change your mind when the organization doesn't suit you.
I agree with you about reevaluating your crafts and areas to make it work for you. I like to repurpose storage frequently and have had some containers for over 30 years that still work for me. Thanks for sharing.
I loved your video. Plus you have a good voice to listen too. I am a painter, paper crafter, and Diamond dot crafter. All my cabinets I bought from a Varage sale we have in Canada. People sell things at a very low cost. So it has been my go to place to spend less but have a decent product. Good job! As crafters I think we are always organizing something. Lol
I always do the same change things from places until I really liked 😊
This was great. I love crafts! Organising all of the supplies, no matter what type of craft, is work. My hubby installed a whole IKEA kitchen (minus sink LOL) in our garage for my crafting. It is still not enough room, if you can believe it!
Your working zones look lovely.
Love that you kept it so real, mainly because this is the way it is for 90% of the crafters out there. I have a small room but I live in a 11/2 story house. Therefore, the walls are slanted which means no vertical storage. I would give anything for a peg board. But I too am trying to make it work. And you are so right, buying 1 or 2 storage containers never seems to work because the space is constantly evolving. Your organizing messes look so much more doable than what I’ve been staring at for the last week! Oh well, I’ll power through.😊
Organizing is tough when you have a quirky space that's for sure! I love the two windows in the corner of my space but sometimes I dream of what I could do with a corner wall instead of a corner made of windows 🤪 .
I love the white letters on the frosted labels. Think I may change my mind on how I label all my drawers. Think it looks elegant and as you said it doesn't add to the visual clutter, thanks! I was able to buy a ribbon ladder at a yard sale for $5 and it doesn't take up much real estate on the floor and leans against a bookcase. Saves room on the peg board, but I can see it works for you. You did a good job on arranging your stuff! 😊
20:58 could maybe cut toilet paper rolls to size and attach to the box to help stabilize the paint... then each bottle would fit in a roll, and you could put them back where they were as the rolls would prevent the bottles from falling in when you revmove one. Dollar general also had narrow fridge bins that fit the bottles well and fit well on a book shelf. Dollar tree also has fridge bins for cans that might work (bottles you'd sit on their side). Those paint bottles can be a pain to store
I purchased two 49-hole paint organizers from Amazon. I believe they were $25 each. Absolutely LOVE them. They can stand on the desk or wall mount.
Thank you for showing your fails...I have been struggling for a long time trying to find a system that will work....a lot of fails along the way!...thanks for keeping it real and letting me know I'm not alone!
TFS. I enjoyed watching you organize. 😊
😍 G'day from Australia 🦘 I really enjoyed your process of sorting your happy crafting place. Thanks greatly for sharing my new crafty friend. Take care, lov's from the land down under 🐨 🙃 ⚘️
You are awesome. Don’t give up. You can do what you believe you can do. Thank you for sharing.
Aw, I appreciate that, you're the best! I'm really enjoying sharing the process!
Quite the transformation ❤❤
I loved watching this video! I would like to know what font you used for the bin labels? Really like the font and size!
It was Cricut Stretch from the Cricut Design Space software! As far as sizing, I just took the longest word and made sure it was less than 3 inches (the size of the bin tag) and then made all the words the same font size at what the longest word ended up being. (Hope that makes sense - 8pm isn't my brain's favorite haha)
@ Thank you so much for this information! I need to get the Cricut out and try and get the hang of using it! This might be a good project to start with 😊
ribbon is something many r stuck with organizing i have used so many idea's oves! the years and i dont think there is a solution as it comes in many different sizes!
