Can't I just install a dehumidifier in my crawl space?

Putting a dehumidifier in an unsealed crawl space is a terrible idea. It’s like running your HVAC during the summer with the windows wide open. The dehumidifier won’t be able to control the humidity and will run non-stop, potentially burning out. To effectively control humidity, you need to properly encapsulate your crawl space, which includes installing a dehumidifier.
