Poor guys. Forgot to turn on the EEG switch for the right engine. That's why it wasn't operating at 100%, and not providing sufficient blade speed. That's why they couldn't go up much and the zebra light always flashed.
Helicopters with one set of blades need a tail rotor because once the helicopter is in the air, the whole helicopter wants to spin with the rotors just becaue of the momentum involved. Depending on whether you want to turn left or right, the tail rotor will change its turning speed. A helicopter with two blades stays put because the rotors spin in opposite directions and if you want to change directions, you just decrease the spinning speed of one of the rotors.
A standard rotor and anti-torque 'copter doesn't spin because of "momentum". It spins because of torque generated. The tail rotor does not "change speed", it changes pitch in its blades to create more or less thrust to counteract the torque of the main rotor.
Ya, they only put that on because it actually makes the heli easier to control, the tail rotor is not 100% precise, and you gotta keep it on controle all the time, because a heli with a tail rotor is a heli that is trying to kill you all the time And there is some other stuff that are too hard to explane here
looks like only one of your engines was at auto throttle, and the other was idle. That's why the rotor RPM alarm kept coming on. You weren't producing enough power to get the rotor performance you were demanding.
I like how you guys completely ignored the EKRAN as it was telling you that the battery was dying, and the oil pressure was dropping, and that you needed to turn the anti-ice on...
I have found this game just yesterday. This is so cool. I was able to fly the SU 25 for a moment and it looks amazing. And now when I see how the cockpits are made for the paid content I can fully understand why it costs so much.
That switch was the weapon system control switch which is why later they didn't have weapon systems. He turns it on as a joke but they turn it off again. Oh the irony.
pmsl you do know that you shot down one of your own AI's... you and your comrades are the red team, which you will see at the beginning when the AI helicopters are taking off they have the red makers..... just so you know :)

Gotta say I love when Drew, Vinny and Dave are trying fly something... ANYTHING!
First few seconds in I see a picture of a helicopter and hear Dave, Vinny, and Drew's voices.... AAAWWWW YEAAAAH!
Excellent Rocketeer reference Vinny ❤
Its great watching you guys play DCS games.
Also that last blue button (flight director) overrides autopilot, so hover wouldn't work anyway.

Yeah, wrong word. Thanks for the correction.
They poke fun at Take on Helicopters :P the demo for that game is pretty badass though.

They should be the official trio when testing out any simulators!
Love the flight sim quick looks with Drew, vinnie and dave. Get some older games too and do this...falcon 4 BMS. :p
Fire Birds with Nicholas Cage and Tommy Lee Jones! Pretty much Top Gun featuring the AH64D Apache Longbow helicopter. Decent movie :) Great QL btw!
Me: "There's a gauge that's moving!" "Oh, it's a clock..."
3:46 seeing warhammer online on his desktop brought me great joy

Hi, I'm from the future! I wish I could go back to these days really bad. :(
You guys crack me up, good job for being new and inexperienced. Re: the door. Think about opening a car door with 100 mph of wind against it.
Took me like six months of playing to finally get good at fighting in the ka-50. Time well spent :D

I like the subtle "Where'd who go?!" Top Gun quote
Guys, i hate to downplay your impressive archievements, but units with red labels are allies.
EKRAN is deffenatly an acronym for some system. or gauge.
Nicholas Vaters I think Ekran just means screen in russian.
mikimoxie I can confirm.
Spot on
Were you playing with other people on the same server?
21:38.. bad ass Airwolf soundtrack
The Flight Club is back
He even uses TrackIR, I'm so subscribing. :D
I'm yelling at my screen, for them to check rotor rpm... Laughing and crying at the same time.
just great, heckle and jeckle fly a helo now...

haha this is very quick, an in-depth look at DCS would take 88 hours.
"He's taxiing? That guy doesn't know how to fly a helicopter!"
awwwww Yes, this made my friday, you guys are amazing
I saw this and thought OH GOD! It's going to be a repeat of A-10C...
It's just that complex it takes hours to learn just a single aircraft.
Love the flight sim vids! ROFL
And don't even bother trying to auto-hover if you're not already traveling less than 5 km/h.
Quick Look?!!
Quick Look: The Movie
its the flight crew crew
Because this..... is a HELICOPTER.
lol so funny how you always fly sideways and stuff :P
This video made me buy Black Shark.
It just jettisons the blades in all directions! Crazy Russian Engineering!
pmsl you do know that you shot down one of your own AI's... you and your comrades are the red team, which you will see at the beginning when the AI helicopters are taking off they have the red makers..... just so you know :)
Where am i going to put my coffee!!!
Would've lol'd so hard if they did all of the pre flight stuff and then crashed imediatly

It has multicore support. I fly this thing perfectly on my 6 core AMD
That was painful to watch, funny as hell though
