I work at CVS, I just helped a lady do a Christmas for her kiddos with her extra bucks and coupons. I try hard to help as many people as I can use their coupons, especially this time of year. It pays to be kind. And we'd love ticket 2 ride!

We used to do the candle lit dinner on Christmas eve too, but my dad would go into our local town and find an elderly, usually bachelor neighbour, and he'd bring him home to join us. He always said it night potentially be the only proper Christmas dinner the man might get. He'd drive him home afterwards and then we'd get up the next day and do it all over again...

This year instead of presents for Christmas we are each donating to a charity. We have been blessed to right now not needing anything. My 90year old Dad came up with the idea. There have been many lean years here in the past and it feels so good to be in a position to help someone else.

My favorite Christmas's are experiences not presents. Same for birthdays etc. each year my mom, son, I went to Myrtle Beach went to see Christmas shows, play mini golf , etc. we had a-lot of fun. The other thing we did was go to Mike's Farm for dinner and Christmas Light hayride. Now he carries this on with his wife. ❤

One of the most fun in recent times for Christmas was when we decided to have my sons entire family help us make Lefse on Christmas Day. Everyone got into it, enjoyed it and had fun. It was a way to share our Norwegian heritage with the young ones. Even the 3 year old rolled out lefse!

I think tbe two of you TOGETHER are an incredible team. Thank you for sharing a bit of that with others!

The different soups for Christmas day is a good idea! One year my Grandma, who was 80 something at the time told all of us she was tired of so much turkey and the same sides for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, she suggested each family bring...make a homemade pizza and bring and we have our own pizza buffet! All the kids LOVED it!!

A tradition in my family for 85+ years now is to have tomato soup(although that has changed and a few have been made according to taste) and grilled cheese sandwiches on Christmas Eve. My grandma was a single mother of 3, my grandpa had been killed by a train, and she wanted something cheap, quick, and warm for the kids before going to church service

It is so encouraging to hear memories like this. We don't have much money at this point, and I worry about not doing enough for my daughter and husband for the holidays. Loved the reminder that it's so much more about the time and experiences.

One of our most memorable Christmas’ was when our kids were so focused on getting a tree. So my husband went out in the barn and built a “manger” to bring in the house. (Instead of a tree). We placed hay in it & a “baby Jesus” and put a star on the ceiling with radiant lights up to it. The kids all remember it, and it really helped us remember the reason for the season!

This was so beautiful. It reminds me of the tales my mother would tell about how at Christmas time when my mother was young, and also one of 14 children, if they got a couple of oranges and some walnuts in their stockings they were really happy and then grandmother made a couple of French Canadian dishes for the Christmas luncheon and that was Christmas along with going to church at midnight!
When I was a child, we would always gather at my grandmother's house and the adults would sing around the piano and "imbibe" some of them...
The grandkids would be playing guitars and stuff in the parlor or the latest album on the record player and the older cousins would dance with us the younger ones and it was the most exhilarating childhood growing up! We didn't even remember the presents we got from our parents that day, while looking forward to going to Grandma's!

When my husband and I were both growing up each of our families would have the exact same meal for both thanksgiving and Christmas. After our kids were born we started a tradition where during the thanksgiving dinner we would decide what we wanted to have for the Christmas dinner. We went all out researching the recipes and planning the meal. We’ve had bbq, Chinese and Mexican meals, a whole meal of appetizers and even a meal of large baking potatoes with about 6 different things to stuff them with. We still do it to this day - this year is all Italian, yea!

The most memorable Christmas for me was when my husband & I were first married and money was very tight. My husband decorated a large jar with a tag saying it was Dr. Frack's "Love Knots"; take one daily. Then he meticulously cut strips of paper, writing something different on each one (like "good for me fixing you breakfast", or "good for a walk", or "good for a hug"), then he twisted each into a knot and put 365 in the jar. I've never forgotten that and how touched I was.🙂👍🐾

I try to stay off social media for Christmas because what really upsets me is seeing how much more other people give. It brought me to tears one year. My kids were too small to remember. But I was hit by a car walking home from work a few days before. The $20 I was supposed to get a gift with was used for dinner that night and the rx.
But we had the time together and they ended up with a couple of things from family. We ended up baking something. I still have a picture of the older one covered in flour "snow*

I really enjoyed hearing about all the Christmas memories. we decided to scale back a lot this year and just make it more about spending time together.
It's funny that you mentioned a Ninja blender/processor kit. That is what I asked for Christmas and it is a splurge for us as well. But, I am in the kitchen a lot and I have been needing/wanting a food processor for several years. I saw that kit on sale and asked my husband to get it (and he told me just to go ahead and order it). I can't wait to open it Christmas morning.
I love scattergories. We used to have it but lost a lot of the pieces so threw it away. I would love to have a new one.

I remember as a child there were years that my parents told me that Santa was poor this year. We always had some presents though. Very grateful for that.

I am not here because of the gifts this time. Thank you for sharing your Wonderful Family Stories/Story. It is hard to get to where you both are in life. You worked Very Hard, then you continue to work hard to keep what you have accomplished/achieved. You both have what you Both deserve. Great Example of a Life Well lived. 👏

surprise me, I'd take either one.
Loved hearing your stories. Our favorite family Christmas memory was driving to Disney World with family. I bought "Christmas Vacation" t-shirts for all of us. We all wore them to Magic Kingdom for the parade. We were a hit with everyone! Merry Christmas!
