I've been back on my wildlands because I've never fully finished it, but now I'm actually running every mission in wildlands. I so hope they do something about that for the next installment. The mechanics in the game are great, but they have to really do something I different.
I was a sniper in the Army and in most situations I preferred a semiauto sniper rifle, except if the shot was over a 800 meters or in a sniper support role were all I was doing was over watch, and even in an over watch scenario, a semi auto if expecting a lot of targets.
Hey Darkdally, I use different sniper rifles for different targets. SR25 as anti-personal medium to long range, MSR for anti-personal at high range. Standard HTI strictly for anti-material. Consequently I decide in the mission briefing what kind of targets we are going to encounter and choose the appropriate rifle.

when you shot the truck with the sr25 in the engine block and the rear tire, they both only took 8 shots. you thought it was 9 because the teammate walked in front, the delay waiting for him was the delay that the truck takes to light on fire.
About the HTI BDC. I belive, that aslong the engine is runing, every vehicle is garanteed one-hit. I made some testing at the La Cabra Mission, after killing the two main targets, I waited for the reinforcement cars and was capable to precisely predict, if it is one- or multiple shot.
My favorite precision rifle is the M14 loaded with semi/3rnd burst trigger, T5XI scope and compensating stock. I think the damage is high due to tier 1. Maybe they gave the enemies and vehicles more resistance. I myself noticed it last night when I was playing co opp on tier 1 when I was shooting a helicopter. They could have also changed the resistance for co opp. If you have a solid team you can dominate easier then playing in campaign. For that reason they might have changed enemy resistance.
One huge advantage of the HTI BDC is the high penetration. Semi-Auto Snipers are good if you got a clear line of sight on the enemy, but if you got a line of sight, they do aswell. I love the HTI for the fact that you can shoot trough thin walls, while still keeping your cover.

I found the HTI to also be a crutch when I started playing so I stepped away and picked up the MSR. Much better realism and just all around fun. 2 shots for helis and convoy trucks, one for any person in center mass...
Well, not to sound like an idiot here but my favorite weapon to use as a sniper rifle in Wildlands is the M16. It is far fom perfect and doesnt stack up the greatest against the actual snipers, especially being limited to the TA31, but understanding its deficiencies and how to employ it at longer ranges has lead me to great effect in Teir mode. Its also a great aide to immersion as it is the most similar platform to how I configure my ARs IRL.
When you fired in the grill with the sr25 it actually took 8 shots. If you notice right before you took you 9th shot you saw sparks/flames come out from the hood. So the shots to the grill and tire were the same
not sure if you mentioned it in the video but there is a difference in the destruction of the vehicle if the engine is running or not, for instance, there's a 1-2 second window between sniping something with enemies inside or if they've jumped out and the engine stopps running, it may even be visible on thermal.
Mostly I use MSR. But there are some circumstances when I use the HTI. For instance, I use the HTI before parachuting into the unidad base in the future soldier snafu mission shoot out the radar jammer.
Well, this is easily explained. Damage values are RNG based. They have a min/max damage they can deal in a shot and each round rolls a RNG roll which is either increased or decreased by the spot it hits. It's a very basic system that many shooters use.
The problem is, when I use a semi auto sniper I always seem to run out of ammo extremely quickly, due to the ammo count being the same for all snipers across the board. You can only get something like 3-4 20rnd mags fired off before you run out
I've been playing on Tier 1 for over two weeks now and in my opinion engaging with the enemy (convoys) can quickly get out of hand the moment hostiles get out of their vehicles.Not only slowing down your XP grind but also increasing the chances of getting spotted and thus meeting your demise. personally my kit consists of a m4a1, an ak47, an sr-25, a dragonuv and an M9. the semi auto is so useful. i use the m4a1 for choppers and cars because even at level9 it just chews through enemy vehicles. the ak for much the same reason, except I use it for more ranged encounters. and the sr is tuned for handling and it reloads quicker than the m4a1. the dragonuv is for long range encounters. the m9 just makes sense considering all the cutscenes in this game
Hey just so you know on SR25, the Extended stock, Short shift, long barrel really do make a noticeable improvement in horizontal recoil. Handling does seem to reflect reload speed, so in a cqc setup I would run VFG vs an angled grip on snipers. If you run the standard stock, vfg2 short barrel, comp v2 and acog, it's essentially an AR with way more punch and a third of the ammo. I like to run shotgun secondary, so I tend to use the SR25 in place of an AR for missions where lots of unidad or heavies are involved.
Im tier 25 and my setup is a tar 21, the g28, and the fn 5.7. My biggest problem is ubisoft seems to think if you're spotted the g28 is the same as a semi auto ar, so i like having a powerful ar/smg in case im spotted. Its a great gun for taking 2 targets out quickly without being seen
M40oa5 with t5xi tactical just different and feels good to solo clear bases while having to be precise and strategic about when and where you down enemies
I like the srsa1 its the fastest rate of fire in bolt action class and a good bit of bullet drop, i like bullet drop cause i can hit guys behind cover when im at range
I used the SR25 happily until I got the BDC. Seemed to me that an unleveled SR25 struggles to take down heavies in one shot in tier mode. Nevertheless, the biggest difference I noticed for the BDC with or w/o supressor, is wall penetration. W/o the supressor, you can shoot targets through single walls. Very helpful
I experimented with using a semi-auto sniper prior to Tier One and a little bit afterwards. I really liked pairing that with my assault rifle, since it added a little extra challenge to the game. However, I went back to the HTI later on in Tier One because my level 30 G28 did less damage than my level 30 TAR-21 (at that time my TAR-21 had the long barrel, I went back to the standard barrel so it may not be the case anymore.) Plus, in Tier One you really do need an anti-material capability (especially in single-player) and I don't like having the grenade launcher because it takes down the handling of my assault rifle too much (I want to keep those as fast handling as possible.) I may revisit the semi-auto sniper after I get back from vacation though, especially after I unlock tier 5 and get the LVOA-C Bad News (I'm at Tier 7 right now and close to Tier 6.)
Latency can be quite a handicap. Personally I enjoy using the M40A5 and in Co-Op I’ve noticed that a fully alert Unidad soldier can tank a shot to the chest like a Terminator and keep going. The second shot will put them down every time. But in single player, a fully alert Unidad soldier will drop dead with one shot. It’s pretty annoying, but that handicap has helped me improve my headshots. So in a way I guess I’ve cancelled it out?
You mentioned that you havnt maxed out the BDC. I have. At lvl30 it will one-shot a vehicle with the suppressor on. Also Ive found that vehicles tend to blow up when I shoot them in the hubcap. No clue if that matters. ALSO ALSO if your sniper rifle lets you increase its handling, do it. Handling increases reload speed and ADS time.
You should've made the peasant lug your BDC around the battlefield for you. Free up a weapon slot for an smg or shotgun or wtf ever. Not because you need to. Just because you can. :P
I was thinking that the damage bar goes beyond the visible. cause when I customized some of my weapons earlyer, the accuracy did not drop some times even if I chose a different underbarrel attachment. But I hear you. I am at Tier 15 now and can still oneshot everything with the HTI at lv 20. I think it is time for me to switch to an semi auto sniper rifle. But please anserme the following. Why do you use an MK 17 with your sniper? In my eyes the MK 17 is a good marksman rifle if you don't want to use a sniper cause of the rediculously slow rate of fire. Thank you and rock on.
You don't get an instant explosion with anti-material SR's unless it's occupied. It has to be occupied, and/or attempting to move. -- Otherwise AMSR's .50's take two shots before the vehicle will go into slow burn; even more with other SR's.
I personally use the m1891. In my opinion, it is one of the best sniper rifles in the game. Yes it has NO suppressor attachment, however if used correctly (i.e. over 150m) it can be used without causing any alerts. Also being a bolt action rifle, it has a surprisingly fast reload, which is good for follow up shots if you miss.
it's one of my personal favs, and it is a great, great rifle in the game. I showed that in my bullet drop tests, and I used it in a great stealthy and unsuppressed build (my Russian Sniper build)
I'm currently at Tier 9 and am now considering switching my primary (TAR21) to a high rate of fire sniper rifle for more punch. I've had my preferred primary, secondary and sidearm maxed tier damage for quite some time and it has served me well, but now starting to seem inadequate.
I ran the TAR21 for awhile, as you can see in many of my video, and have swapped around a lot. when I was running the BDC, I ran an SMG as my secondary for the high ROF tbh, but since switching to the SR25 I've changed to a MK17 (as you see in the video) to pick up the slack. gonna go over some of that in today's video.

Tried out the G28 last night, instantly fell in love with it.. But holy shit the chopper mechanics are really grinding my gears. If I cant look around with the camera, I cant plan my missions from the air. Thoughts DarkDally?
I like them overall, if they are a bit "arcadey" feeling, but yeah that is my one complaint. I could fly them fine before.... but I do like this a lot better tbh. You can change the chopper controls back in the options..... I wish we could have the new controls and maybe hold down a button to break the right stick free and look, that'd be a lot better
Been using the SR25 Jungle in ghost mode, not yet at tier mode but it one shots vehicles for some reason. You can't silence the SR25J but damn is it ever good.
Hi Darkdally. I'm getting some bugs over and over. One of the most notable is a change in sound. Gunfire sounds more like 'Pwoktsshhhh' and rockets make way more noise too. It gives more feeling to the game, so I hope it will be implemented in the next update.
I like the MSR but I have a tendency to play slow. I line up, take a shot and move. Snipers first always. Sure I'm only in the 30's Tier wise and only just got locked to Extreme, which is new for me. I guess the MSR is what I'm used to.
I also Love the SR25 rifle but i like the BSD-50 50 cal sniper rifle in Ghost recon but I hate the mag size 5 rounds !!!! I have a video from the afgan war where a merc used the SR25 to hit I think 12 targets with one mag reload the guy was in Heaven he called it a turkey shoot.
Its not a hidden damage value for doing more damage to vehicles. Its based on penetration. Even regular assault rifles will do more damage to vehicles unsurpressed because they gain more penetration.
it's not penetration. that's part of it, but not all of it. My BDC will one-shot a radar jammer suppressed, and has just a hair more penetration than an MSR, which even at lvl 30, can not do that unsuppressed, even with a full magazine.
What causes a vehicle to smoke and then burn up rather than immediately explode? I get killed by convoy escorts so often because the vehicles don't immediately explode, giving the cartel guys time to run away. P.S. I am using the Desert Tech HTI to shoot the convoy escort vehicles.
You say in your video that the HTI BDC takes more than one shot to take down/out a vehicle while in coop play and not in solo play, I play in solo and have also found that on times it takes more than one shot to take down/out a vehicle, which is so frustrating.
I personally choose the sr25 over most semi sniper rifles I just think it looks the best even though it does less damage and shoots slower personal choice either way
The regular hti kills shit with one shot too and you can put camo on it.. I mean if that's all you're looking for.. it's what I'm working with now cuz I got my guy all grey... I tried the mk14 but didn't accomplish what I was trying..
f you watch closely to the MSR Thermite on the Clip you will read the exact cal. of this weapon. "Modular Sniper Rifle CAL .338LM (LM=Lapua Magnum) so there you have at least the fact that the MSR isn't an Anti Materia Rifle. This is a for human targets. The .338 is also a great pick for Boar and Moose hunts but this is another game :)
I think that if you don't have a grenade launcher on your AR (given that you are using an AR), then you should use the HTI due to it being able to destroy many vehicles in one shot, but if you do have a grenade launcher, go for the semi-autos.
I use the 556xi with occasionally swapping it with an Ak-47 (hey I love the AK family ok) and then I will sometimes use a G28 as a battle rifle With a SR25. Two snipers all the way
I almost exclusively use the MK14 to snipe and have no problems in tier one. Every time I switch to another rifle, I end up going right back to the MK14. Sure the helicopters take a lot of shots, but doesn't almost everyone have their other weapon class set up with an assault rifle and grenade launcher? And rarely is it not a one shot one kill.
When u were shooting the grill with the sr25 u shot it after it started burning because u got distracted by weaver so it took just as many shots as the wheel.
Why isn't the BFG-50A on the test list? Is is listed as a different variant, or a different rifle all to gether? Playing against many UNIDAD at this point we can sometimes be overwhelmed against their air firepower. BFG LETS me overwatch from high ground, still defend team against helps, then switch to an DMR SR25 to in the intermediate ranges on exfil. I haven't seen the BFG-50a in your testing. What am I missing?
Games portray suppressors way wrong. It's proven the longer the barrel is, the faster the bullet travels. So when you add a suppressor it doesn't effect bullet drop in any negative way. Only if you're shooting subsonic ammo. Might be dumb to some but it irritates me because it handicaps you for being stealthy. 🙄
Incorrect. A suppressed weapon firing supersonic ammunition will have a lower velocity than if it were unsuppressed. This is because the suppresor has chambers which the hot gasses propelling the bullet down the barrel expand into. This means when the bullet leaves the barrel and the gases can escape out of the muzzle (producing the flash) the flame front is weaker. Because some of its energy was lost expanding into the suppressor. Some force is actually lost from the rifling in the barrel. The flame front can move around and past the bullet though the gap between the bulet and the inside of the barrel that the rifling creates. This is why abrams tanks use a smooth bore gun. But they sacrifice the accuracy from the rifling for higher muzzel velocity and therefore greater range. I believe they counter this with “smart” rounds. The bullet physics in this game are wonky though.
when you shot the sr25 at the second vehicle in the grill you said it took 1 more then in the wheel but you counted wrong. and it is because its hard to see when a vehicle is destroyed by fire. if you look at the front wheels they will both turn in when it's health reaches 0 so it took the same shots

I just love 50 cal so much, those monsters one-shot helicopters, armored vehicles, and they are super accurate. My beloved 50 cal

You mentioned you weren't sure what round the MSR fires. The MSR is chambered in.338 Lapua.

It actually took you 8 shots through the grill, you can see that the vehicle disappeared on the mini map. So it was the same than shooting at the tire

You mentioned that you havnt maxed out the BDC. I have. At lvl30 it will one-shot a vehicle with the suppressor on. Also Ive found that vehicles tend to blow up when I shoot them in the hubcap. No clue if that matters. ALSO ALSO if your sniper rifle lets you increase its handling, do it. Handling increases reload speed and ADS time.
From what i can tell having a sniper that has lower handling makes it easier to take precise shots at greater distances because how slow it moves.
Handling stat is how fast you're pulling the scope up in game, analog sensitivity settings control how fast you move when ADS
Sometimes the HTI takes more than 1 shot because the enemy is alert. Took 3 shots to take down a helicopter one time
You should've made the peasant lug your BDC around the battlefield for you.
Free up a weapon slot for an smg or shotgun or wtf ever.

I was thinking that the damage bar goes beyond the visible. cause when I customized some of my weapons earlyer, the accuracy did not drop some times even if I chose a different underbarrel attachment. But I hear you. I am at Tier 15 now and can still oneshot everything with the HTI at lv 20. I think it is time for me to switch to an semi auto sniper rifle. But please anserme the following. Why do you use an MK 17 with your sniper? In my eyes the MK 17 is a good marksman rifle if you don't want to use a sniper cause of the rediculously slow rate of fire. Thank you and rock on.
You don't get an instant explosion with anti-material SR's unless it's occupied. It has to be occupied, and/or attempting to move. -- Otherwise AMSR's .50's take two shots before the vehicle will go into slow burn; even more with other SR's.

I personally use the m1891. In my opinion, it is one of the best sniper rifles in the game. Yes it has NO suppressor attachment, however if used correctly (i.e. over 150m) it can be used without causing any alerts. Also being a bolt action rifle, it has a surprisingly fast reload, which is good for follow up shots if you miss.
it's one of my personal favs, and it is a great, great rifle in the game. I showed that in my bullet drop tests, and I used it in a great stealthy and unsuppressed build (my Russian Sniper build)
I'm currently at Tier 9 and am now considering switching my primary (TAR21) to a high rate of fire sniper rifle for more punch. I've had my preferred primary, secondary and sidearm maxed tier damage for quite some time and it has served me well, but now starting to seem inadequate.
I ran the TAR21 for awhile, as you can see in many of my video, and have swapped around a lot. when I was running the BDC, I ran an SMG as my secondary for the high ROF tbh, but since switching to the SR25 I've changed to a MK17 (as you see in the video) to pick up the slack. gonna go over some of that in today's video.

Tried out the G28 last night, instantly fell in love with it..
But holy shit the chopper mechanics are really grinding my gears. If I cant look around with the camera, I cant plan my missions from the air.

I like them overall, if they are a bit "arcadey" feeling, but yeah that is my one complaint. I could fly them fine before.... but I do like this a lot better tbh. You can change the chopper controls back in the options..... I wish we could have the new controls and maybe hold down a button to break the right stick free and look, that'd be a lot better

Been using the SR25 Jungle in ghost mode, not yet at tier mode but it one shots vehicles for some reason. You can't silence the SR25J but damn is it ever good.
In Tier mode, I've been using the SR25 Jungle, sort of the best of both worlds. It's a little cheap, yeah, but the grind is bad enough.
Hi Darkdally. I'm getting some bugs over and over. One of the most notable is a change in sound. Gunfire sounds more like 'Pwoktsshhhh' and rockets make way more noise too. It gives more feeling to the game, so I hope it will be implemented in the next update.
I like the MSR but I have a tendency to play slow. I line up, take a shot and move. Snipers first always. Sure I'm only in the 30's Tier wise and only just got locked to Extreme, which is new for me.
I guess the MSR is what I'm used to.
Btw, my sinper rifle I use is the bfg 50a or the sr25 aswell,
Rarely do I use the bolt actions. I used the m110 up until like lvl 15 and only use the hti if I’m doin a convoy solo

I also Love the SR25 rifle but i like the BSD-50 50 cal sniper rifle in Ghost recon but I hate the mag size 5 rounds !!!! I have a video from the afgan war where a merc used the SR25 to hit I think 12 targets with one mag reload the guy was in Heaven he called it a turkey shoot.

Its not a hidden damage value for doing more damage to vehicles. Its based on penetration. Even regular assault rifles will do more damage to vehicles unsurpressed because they gain more penetration.
it's not penetration. that's part of it, but not all of it. My BDC will one-shot a radar jammer suppressed, and has just a hair more penetration than an MSR, which even at lvl 30, can not do that unsuppressed, even with a full magazine.
i use almost only the g28 or the bfg50a when i have to take out heavy taargets
What causes a vehicle to smoke and then burn up rather than immediately explode? I get killed by convoy escorts so often because the vehicles don't immediately explode, giving the cartel guys time to run away.
P.S. I am using the Desert Tech HTI to shoot the convoy escort vehicles.
You say in your video that the HTI BDC takes more than one shot to take down/out a vehicle while in coop play and not in solo play, I play in solo and have also found that on times it takes more than one shot to take down/out a vehicle, which is so frustrating.

I personally choose the sr25 over most semi sniper rifles I just think it looks the best even though it does less damage and shoots slower personal choice either way
I mostly use SR25 for sniping. Quick fire rate let's you use as AR.

Vehicle shield skill only applies to any vehicle that you are driving. Any other vehicle is not affected by said skill.

but for doing multiple convoys using a semi automatic sniper rifle kills all ammo ecconomy. The .50 cals give your ammo more value

f you watch closely to the MSR Thermite on the Clip you will read the exact cal. of this weapon. "Modular Sniper Rifle CAL .338LM (LM=Lapua Magnum) so there you have at least the fact that the MSR isn't an Anti Materia Rifle. This is a for human targets. The .338 is also a great pick for Boar and Moose hunts but this is another game :)
I think that if you don't have a grenade launcher on your AR (given that you are using an AR), then you should use the HTI due to it being able to destroy many vehicles in one shot, but if you do have a grenade launcher, go for the semi-autos.
I use the 556xi with occasionally swapping it with an Ak-47 (hey I love the AK family ok) and then I will sometimes use a G28 as a battle rifle

I almost exclusively use the MK14 to snipe and have no problems in tier one. Every time I switch to another rifle, I end up going right back to the MK14. Sure the helicopters take a lot of shots, but doesn't almost everyone have their other weapon class set up with an assault rifle and grenade launcher?
And rarely is it not a one shot one kill.

Sr25 has been my friend for a long time
When u were shooting the grill with the sr25 u shot it after it started burning because u got distracted by weaver so it took just as many shots as the wheel.
Yeah, I caught it in editing, but the point is still proven - it took as many in the grill as the wheel. I decided it wasn't a big deal.

How viable is the MK-17/Scar against semi-auto snipers considering that the scar is used for close-quarters sniping irl?
Why isn't the BFG-50A on the test list? Is is listed as a different variant, or a different rifle all to gether? Playing against many UNIDAD at this point we can sometimes be overwhelmed against their air firepower. BFG LETS me overwatch from high ground, still defend team against helps, then switch to an DMR SR25 to in the intermediate ranges on exfil. I haven't seen the BFG-50a in your testing. What am I missing?

Games portray suppressors way wrong. It's proven the longer the barrel is, the faster the bullet travels. So when you add a suppressor it doesn't effect bullet drop in any negative way. Only if you're shooting subsonic ammo. Might be dumb to some but it irritates me because it handicaps you for being stealthy. 🙄
Incorrect. A suppressed weapon firing supersonic ammunition will have a lower velocity than if it were unsuppressed. This is because the suppresor has chambers which the hot gasses propelling the bullet down the barrel expand into. This means when the bullet leaves the barrel and the gases can escape out of the muzzle (producing the flash) the flame front is weaker. Because some of its energy was lost expanding into the suppressor. Some force is actually lost from the rifling in the barrel. The flame front can move around and past the bullet though the gap between the bulet and the inside of the barrel that the rifling creates. This is why abrams tanks use a smooth bore gun. But they sacrifice the accuracy from the rifling for higher muzzel velocity and therefore greater range. I believe they counter this with “smart” rounds.
The bullet physics in this game are wonky though.

The SR-25 only has the standard barrel or the short barrel.

A range finder decreases bullet drop. It has about 50% the effect on bullet drop that adding a longer barrel has.
when you shot the sr25 at the second vehicle in the grill you said it took 1 more then in the wheel but you counted wrong. and it is because its hard to see when a vehicle is destroyed by fire. if you look at the front wheels they will both turn in when it's health reaches 0 so it took the same shots
