RL Cold Ridgeville, SC Case Study

RL Cold is a leading provider of cold storage real estate solutions. Primus’ first project with RL Cold was in Baytown, TX. The customer was Maersk, with the facility end user being Performance Team. When Maersk decided to build additional facilities, the success of the Baytown project led to the project in Ridgeville, SC.
Features of the 295,000 SF Greenfield cold storage warehouse include:
Automated de-slat conveyor system
Vary narrow aisle (VNA) racking requiring FMIN 85 floors and in-rack fire suppression
Cascade ammonia CO2 system
Fully convertible freezers ranging from -10° to 35°
QFM blast freezer for protein products
The project is on track to achieve LEED Gold certification and features innovative sustainable components that deliver energy savings. These include:
1 megawatt rooftop solar array that offsets approximately $200,000 per year
A 50,000-gallon rain capture tank that uses collected water to cool the refrigeration coils, reducing energy consumption
Electric vehicle chargers
Heat island reduction, low emitting materials, EPD products, etc.
