Les about this song: "There's a lot of crazy s--t in my life right now: My mom is fading away from us; she's not going to be around much longer. My little nephew was diagnosed with leukaemia at only two months old. I have friends battling cancer. When I wrote that song, I was just like, 'Holy f---ing hell…' Whatever metaphor you want to use: Into everyone's life a little rain must fall. Well, there you go - Tragedy's A-Comin'. The funny thing is, the music to that song is very uplifting. I love the contrast of it. From Tommy The Cat to Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, there's a lot of tragic figures in my music and Primus' music. It's just the way I exorcise my demons, through these kinds of people."
@@MrFutago87 That Lobster knows that it takes just one customer of that restaurant who wants him on his menu. It takes just ONE who will go "I'll have the lobster!"
Primus was the band that made me start playing bass, way back in the beginning. Now, after finding them again, four years after having quit playing, I'll be digging my old bass out again.
***** nah ive seen all of their older stuff, mr krinkle is actually one of my favourites. idk why but the spaceman riding the horse just made me do a double take
+ThePyro Dude Pyro, you're not the only one that caught me off gaurd too. And yes I've seen all the old videos too. Looks like this is about pretentious SF restaurant fucks. I used to deliver produce all around the bay area. The chefs are usually (usually) cool.. But the whole scene is wacky. "I don't buy food from strangers" thank you Marin.....
He is probably the best bass player i have ever heard and i have listened to a lot of music. America produced a lot of great music in the 90s like this. The 'musicians' america are pumping out at the moment are pretty bad. Come on america more soundgarden and primus less lady gogo, beyonce and britney spears.
I agree with you, and I also see it as he (the Astronaut) has two of the things that humanity needed during their new frontiers, the Horse for the wild plains of the world, and the Space Suit for the vacuum of space. Two things that if humanity didn't have, they wouldn't make it as far.
this is a great observation i never considered. I kind of looked at it as semi-biblical... riding a pale horse, the astronaut taking those to 'space' or the heavens, given the lyrical themes, and the restaurant representing humanity welcoming being taken away... or something like that.
This is such a brilliant idea and contrast! At its face, it's harmless. A group of happy folks enjoying a nice lobster dinner. Then you add a giant lobster and it suddenly becomes hilarious and their simple, harmless dinner becomes full of malice! Great job Les.
Primus has never disappointed live, something different every time and yet always with that Primus essence, almost a sense of dark humor bubbling beneath the music.
This song sounds funky and mostly upbeat, but the story behind it is actually pretty sad. Someone else commented about it, should be in the top comments somewhere by Gustavo Durden
"So the song is about a storm coming, the rain must fall. But to depict that would have been the cliché thing to do, so we've got lobsters." Les Claypool
Its been 11 years, and they are still as insane and wacky as ever, seeing them last summer on their first UK dates in 15 years was awesome!! Roll on Albert Hall gigs, see you all at both yes??
I was listening to this in class on my phone with the music video playing and the kid next to me gave me possibly the most confused expression ive ever seen
This song is really clever and grows on you. Including the video. Brilliant. When I heard Les say in an interview that "it's about impending doom but it felt cliché to show that through videos so we went with lobsters instead" I thought this was just going to be another random song and video about nothing, but as soon as I caught the word "cancer" on my third listen around the last verse I was like "OOOOoooh. I get it." Primus sucks harder than ever.
I need this right now, because I am right in the middle of it right now, LOL. My dogs all scared of thunder-storm outside , now they know this bass thunderstorm inside is far worse .
"ok, hold on now. so you're telling me that you put these little guys in boiling water and they shrink and they turn red and they die?! that is the most metal thing i ever heard in my whole life!"
I think this song is brilliant lol. It just shows how that they can still make good music even after all the years of Primus. That breakdown just gives me chills ay.
I f-ing LOVE this band! They probably ain't the best in the world of music, as a whole but they are beyond a doubt one of the COOLEST! MY big brown beaver and I listen to them almost every day.
i belive Flea and Les to be on different levels of awsome.........while FLEA is a pure entity of funky love grooves that spawned from the likes of the P-FUNK....Les is the embodiment of all things strange and down right awsome that intrigues us all.
Omfg the opening riff(the first 16 seconds on the song) is so fucking amazing!!! Why didn't they go with that for a whole song? The rest of the song is good to, but the opening riff is so Primus, so phenomenal, so dark and personal.
Actually it's about how something bad is going to happen to you and there's nothing you can do to avoid it. Les said it himself... But hey, this is art. So your point is valid too :P
This is the only song ever written that is 💯% true, 💯% of the time, for 💯% of everything. That said, it's a true blessing for us that have heard this song to be forever paradoxically cursed to bob our heads to it's euphoric beat blissfully ignorant that tragedy is actually a comin' in-between life's tragedy's. And for that we thank you Primus! This song also serves as yet another example of why primus 💯% sucks!
2:54, I had to rewind it a couple of times, but that is definitely a bottle of wine from les's wine company Claypool Cellars...nice product placement Les, and the wine is very good.

Why lobsters though?
Mr. Futago why not?
@@MrFutago87 That Lobster knows that it takes just one customer of that restaurant who wants him on his menu.
It takes just ONE who will go "I'll have the lobster!"
But you know this is true life, right? Some dudes Really get that Service,
where are the comments about how "my father died and this was his favorite song, i love you dad." or some stuff like this when we need them?
Primus was the band that made me start playing bass, way back in the beginning. Now, after finding them again, four years after having quit playing, I'll be digging my old bass out again.
I'm usually used to weird shit like this but that astronaut on the horse got me
evildaemo havent actually...
+ThePyro You must be VERY new to Primus...go watch Mr Krinkle :)
***** nah ive seen all of their older stuff, mr krinkle is actually one of my favourites. idk why but the spaceman riding the horse just made me do a double take

+ThePyro Hes a space cowboy lol
Another band that's an acquired taste. And of course, once you've acquired said taste, you can't imagine how you existed without it.
I can imagine how I would have existed without this song. Just fine. I love Primus but this just sounds like shit to be honest.
Your opinion of the song is one thing, but "Prius" is a Toyota hybrid model.
He is probably the best bass player i have ever heard and i have listened to a lot of music. America produced a lot of great music in the 90s like this. Daniel Wood Your complaints are falling on deaf ears. Mainstream culture will never include anything experimentally artistic.
Well said
Love the Astronaut on the Horse. Man's first mode of transportation to his last. That's how I interpreted it anyways. But what in the hell do I know.
I agree with you, and I also see it as he (the Astronaut) has two of the things that humanity needed during their new frontiers, the Horse for the wild plains of the world, and the Space Suit for the vacuum of space. Two things that if humanity didn't have, they wouldn't make it as far.

Space cadets are out thereeeeeeee

I like how each entree that comes out is more ridiculous than the previous one.
The crustacean truly fears only one other creature, its most ancient and cunning predator: The astronaut.
Primus has never disappointed live, something different every time and yet always with that Primus essence, almost a sense of dark humor bubbling beneath the music.
I've been waiting 20 years to see them in France.
Saw them at the Orpheum in Los Angeles it was OK I thought it was a little boring actually.
Thanks Primus for some excellent music over the years.I’m never bored, always amazed.
ler is a beast! underrated guitarist. no one else could play guitar for this band and fit so well!
Les Craypool. laugh at my horrible pun.
You're horrible. I love it.
Arbiter1912 scream bloody gore🤘
Arbiter1912 i hate u but i also love u for that
I like it.
the hell happened to my comment
I didnt know Johnny Depp could play bass like that
+Gonzaa Rmt oh yeah an that's Will Ferrell on drums too.
Johnny Depp can do anything! But you should see Les Claypool play a gender-bending pirate !
+Defrock7 red hot chili peppers?
?
***** red hot cili peppers drummer looks exactly like will ferrel
primus got a strange obsession with food
and fishing =]
Don’t we all lol
nAChOs?
S T E A M Y!
It is to penetrate into our subconscious, it is deliberated, it is not its obsession, it is a marketing strategy
Seafood
the guitar playing starting at 3:39 is awesome; I wish they had built more of the song around it.
they did. in the beginning
Marc Dominguez Lol
Would be dope if the whole song was based on that riff instead of the rythym he's got for it
theres a fine line between insanity and pure brilliance. and les walks that line perfecly
Maynard from tool should have been the waiter
Justin Tyler he looked like it didn’t he
Perfect comment
Hahaha ya the first time i saw this video i thought it was Maynard😅
I was literally thinking the same thing ha
With his ego he could never even pretend to wait on others
I remember listening to this back in the day. Pondering on events we are seeing today 2022.
Thanks, from Richard to Richard,
Lob Craypool
Les Crayfish?
Love the video! Been repeating this song a lot while driving for past three months.
These guys are an amazing live. Lalonde totally shredded and Claypool was in top form.
Yup, Primus the greatest band in the world, the lyrics are ruthless and the music is beautiful !
way ahead of their time... they knew 2011 what would happen in Star Wars 9...
new album is amazing. especially live. they haven't lost a step. and no two Primus albums are alike
Love the new album. :) The show in Berkeley where they did the entire album was fantastic.
Primus Tragedy`s A Comin-2011
Les Claypool-Lead Vocal , Bass Guitarr
Jay Lane-Drums,Backing Vocals
Larry Lalonde-Guitarr
Love love primus, glad to see they are making more music
One of my fav tunes off the record
This is the first time I ever heard this song and I love it
i send this to my dad every couple of months . He is a Boomer and i am GenX. The days that follow are always a cack.
the astronaut riding a horse is genius and in some strange way fits the music perfectly
the epic stare down between the astronaut and the lobster is now my desktop wallpaper.
and Les claypool in a lobster suit, too.
Bravo.
J'aime Primus à toute heure de la journée, mais je l'ADORE après minuit.
Luc Therriault - Ce n'est pas du meilleur, mais c'est bien.
Everytime I listen to a Primus song for the first time I dislike it, second time it sounds good and not before long I'm on my 10th listen
Crazy crazy crazy video and song!!! Primus rules!!! I like it so much!!!
This video just changed my life.
Me too, I used to be 3rd in France at Guitar hero 4. There are so many amazing bands i wouldn't even know without it ...
This video deserves a lot more than 287,000 views.
lers solo awesome as usual
Its been 11 years, and they are still as insane and wacky as ever, seeing them last summer on their first UK dates in 15 years was awesome!! Roll on Albert Hall gigs, see you all at both yes??
the king of base. i have heard a lot of rock music and les is by far the best.
i wish this was on a constant repeat.
I was listening to this in class on my phone with the music video playing and the kid next to me gave me possibly the most confused expression ive ever seen
What a band... add my favs, thanx for vid!
Thanks for putting this up! You are awesome!
I like how Primus has appropriate theme songs for everything.
Happy birthday Les!
Without internet i wouldn't know there is a new primus album, in fact I wouldn't know Primus at all
"This kills the Claypool"
I love the effect on his bass.
Thanks, sounds so funky.
Hahaha! Love it! So random! They are amazing still. Good old Les Claypool and his funny antics :')
how the hell can THIS have only 300.000 views??? ITS PRIMUS FOR GOD SAKE!!
This song is really clever and grows on you. Including the video. Brilliant. Primus sucks harder than ever.
Man, I was totally waiting for the Seafood Rebellion.
This sounds... A LOT like Infectious Grooves old stuff. I LOVE IT THOUGH! Primus4life. lol
I need this right now, because I am right in the middle of it right now, LOL.
My dogs all scared of thunder-storm outside , now they know this bass thunderstorm inside is far worse .
Ill Finish tomorow!!!!!!!!!!!
"ok, hold on now. so you're telling me that you put these little guys in boiling water and they shrink and they turn red and they die?! that is the most metal thing i ever heard in my whole life!"
'Bout time they replaced that Claypool feller with a crawdad.
best comeback album
thank you for the upload
I think this song is brilliant lol. It just shows how that they can still make good music even after all the years of Primus. That breakdown just gives me chills ay.
Is it just me or is Les Claypool the coolest human being to ever live?
Good news are coming!!! They didn´t split , new album and it sounds as usually: SUPERB!!!
I f-ing LOVE this band! They probably ain't the best in the world of music, as a whole but they are beyond a doubt one of the COOLEST! MY big brown beaver and I listen to them almost every day.
wrong on one thing...80% of musicians dont have anywhere near the talent of all three
Primus are the shit, tehy amazed me in every album, this material its soooooooo badass, long live to Primus!!
i belive Flea and Les to be on different levels of awsome.........while FLEA is a pure entity of funky love grooves that spawned from the likes of the P-FUNK....Les is the embodiment of all things strange and down right awsome that intrigues us all.
easily one of their best songs
Hey it's Lob Claypool
Lob Craypool!
What a great sound.
Great song, by Primus ( as usual) astronaut riding a horse , like it....
primus still best!
no, Primus Sucks
+Giuseppe Giusti if it sucks to you, then why are you here?

Primus sucks. Silly noobs rock!
The God of bass bro.
Alucinante cancion de Primus!!
PrimusPrimusPrimus
Únicos e inimitables.
Les has a facial hair face like Rowan Atkinson, he suits soup straining equipment a lot and just looks damned strange when clean shaven.
My dad went to his happy hunting ground last month. I get it Les. Laugh at grief and flip it the bird!!
Omfg the opening riff(the first 16 seconds on the song) is so fucking amazing!!! Why didn't they go with that for a whole song? The rest of the song is good to, but the opening riff is so Primus, so phenomenal, so dark and personal.
Pupapo Giuseppe Indeed
and what about 3:23 until the end? the same riff with the solos behind and some cool variations on the bass. fucking awesome!
the chorus is so awesome
GENIOS, ARGENTINA LOS ESPERA SIEMPRE!!!!
Right back at cha bro!!!
reminds me of their song "golden boy"
FLAT EARTH WAKE UP PRIMUS PEOPLE
Actually it's about how something bad is going to happen to you and there's nothing you can do to avoid it. Les said it himself...
But hey, this is art. So your point is valid too :P
Marvelous.
Great band
primus never gives up on the randomness
This is the only song ever written that is 💯% true, 💯% of the time, for 💯% of everything. That said, it's a true blessing for us that have heard this song to be forever paradoxically cursed to bob our heads to it's euphoric beat blissfully ignorant that tragedy is actually a comin' in-between life's tragedy's.
And for that we thank you Primus!
This song also serves as yet another example of why primus 💯% sucks!
Had chosen animation in "stop-motion" as usual, but the melodies Carrying out excellent. Primus does not lose the style, is what I like ...
Rock on primus. Down with the haters. Grunge will live on.
what does Primus have to do with grunge? lol
I don't understand what side you're on...
Marin jean Provost lol ..Primus SUCKS!
+Marin jean Provost yeah, a little leary with this one
this is just incredible
Every time I've seen primus, I've been like that astronaut; a space cadet!
i just came from the concert they gave in mexico city ... i'm still euforic
2:54, I had to rewind it a couple of times, but that is definitely a bottle of wine from les's wine company Claypool Cellars...nice product placement Les, and the wine is very good.
love the new album
Is a meaning or saying that describes to primus. Is a compliment.
Sorry for my bad description, i´m chilean and i not dominate this languaje. Cheers.
like them or not, they're good musicians.
The wa pedal is a gift from God
Primus sucks so bad! love it!
