I absolutely love curlformers! I've been using them for about ten years and have learned many tricks with them: Firstly, make sure you don't pull the form tight to your scalp, leave a bit of wiggle room. That will make the curl look a bit more natural, feel better on your scalp, and make the part lines less obvious. Second, You can use all orange on one side of you head and all pink on the other for the swept forward/back look of curls. Or, my preferred method, you can alternate the colors to give a balance curl mess. Third, when you're pulling the forms off your hair, don't just grab the top rubber, actually pinch it fully open. This will allow the hair to slide right out and less frizz problems will happen. In the reverse direction, you should also pinch the top open when you're pulling your wet hair through, this will prevent tugging and breaking of fragile damp hair. And Fourth, to deal with the funny partings, I've learned the above trick of leaving a bit of space at the scalp, also, I carefully run my fingers along the scalp in a soft scrubbing motion, kind of like I'm blending dry shampoo into my roots. And if there's any stubborn area, I find that teasing the hair a bit at the scalp can help hide any funny parts. Hope my ten years experience helps!
yoyoente can you please tell me what the sizes are for the pink and orange. I want to buy them but they're are so many different options and I'm not sure which one is the right one. Plus I need a good deal most of them cost a lot of money.
+Milabu I use bobby pins for heatless curls. Wet set, same process but you can control the size of the curl as you roll up the curls around two fingers. And it doesn't hurt your scalp to sleep with them in. Also, it creates (after brushing and placement/and direction), 1940s waves.
atumasova . Instead of parting the hair in straight lines, part it with zig zag or curvy lines. That way when the curls are released it looks more natural and blended by the scalp area and you won't see where it was parted
Milana my hair is naturally curly like those curls...take your fingers at the scalp and move your fingers in a shaking motion and that will make your curls seperate and look fuller...xoxox Loretta
I tried these and got the curliest curls I've ever had in my life. I was so shocked because my hair doesn't usually take a curl without using a lot of product. I LOVED the curls, but had no idea how to finish them in to a style that didn't look crazy and frizzy. Please do one of your 10 styles videos to give us some suggestions. Thank you!
You can try wrapping your hair in a silk scarf after putting the curl forms in before you go to sleep. Then you don't have to worry about rolling around and they will stay in place.
Before you pick apart the curls, slip your fingertips underneath them (along the scalp, but just where you don't like how it parted), and massage just the roots in circles about the size of a quarter. You may need to barely-dampen your fingers and/or add a tiny-little bit of gel, to 'reset' your roots there. Adds volume, too. Just go easy with the water/gel, so it dries quickly without flattening out. Once you're sure it's fully dry again, then you can separate the individual curls if you want. I wonder how these would work with homemade flax seed gel....
Ah! I've wondered about the CurlFormers for some time now but haven't tried them! Thanks for the video. I have fine hair and it's so easily damaged by heat so I've been pin curling my hair each night with great success but a very retro looking style in the morning. Part lines are easy to prevent if I work with my hair after it's dried, adding back in a mixture of water, leave in conditioner, and setting lotion. I spray each section with the mixture but leave the root section (1 inch closest to my scalp) dry. It works perfectly...curl and volume without part lines. Now I will try it with the CurlFormers.
I've used these for years with short and long hair! Use a curl cream of your choice BEFORE you put them on your hair. Buy 2 or 3 packs and make very small sections. And BRUSH YOUR HAIR. Put into sections then divide those into even smaller section. Grab the strand you are going to use brush it, hook it, and right before you pull it through Brush it again. Will help with pulling and frizz.
hey I have had these for years and there are a few things that would help when you use them. 1) the sections of hair you were using for the green blue ones looked too large. doing this way results in hurting your scalp and the curls don't turn our very good. 2) I always use wet hair when I do this but also add product to each section of hair. also use a combination to spread the product. I usually use gel as my product. 3) don't get the curl formers too close to your scalp, if you do they again hurt your scalp (mine is super sensitive) and the curls tend to stick straight out from your head. like I said I have had these for years (I think since 2008) I use the orange and pink ones. I've used them for proms, weddings and all kinds of fun things. they really are awesome! I usually sleep in them but I think I went to school with them one day cause I had some sort of Irish dance performance that night. If you have any questions let me know.
I just did my first experiment with the pink and orange curlformers (my package contained 20 of each color and included 2 hooks). My hair is definitely on the short side for this product (only barely below my ears) but I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to put them in and the fact that THEY STAYED PUT even in my short and fine hair!! And I even got a couple of cute curls in the end :-) Definitely gonna try again once my hair has grown a couple of centimeters (especially my bangs looked crazy afterwards). Thanks for making this video - I enjoyed it! :-)
if you try the narrow again, put them in damper and sleep in them. I have 3 sizes and the narrow are my favorite for my medium length, fine hair. I got the SUPER long ones so I can put them in a dread pony tail to sleep lol! sleeping looking like Predator. I also had to learn how to lay/style the formers going in so when I pull them out they are parted well. I found doing the top straight back, like a mo hawk, helped a lot.
I have really enjoyed watching your video's. I love that you properly test products and demonstrate how to use the products, I sometimes find the instructions very confusing. Thank you very much.
I have color treated and dry hair and I love these. HOWEVER you are supposed to dampen the hair, and I put a little bit of super skinny or some argon oil on my hair before I pull it through. IT makes it soft and its better for your hair. If you also hold the end open when you pulling it through it helps as well. It takes some practice. Another tip if you alternate which way the curl faces it makes the curls look more natural.
I love curl formers! I’m so glad my hair is long enough to use them again, but serious pro tip, they sell a whole over the head dryer cap you can attach to your blow dryer and that’s how I get away with doing this in less then an hour and no sleeping with them in! Just add curlers to almost dry hair and then place the cap on for about 20 min and then they are ready to come out!
I think it's possible to brush these curls to some sort of a 40's hairstyle, because the curls really resemble that of classic wet set pincurls! Curls like this is very easy to shape when brushed out and together :)
haha I actually tried it and it didn't work out as pretty just because all the curls are going in different direction. Next time I'll have to put the forms in the same way.
I have been tempted to buy these but didn't know which to get r whether they wer just a crazy gimmick that wasn't going to work. After seeing this, I will defo be purchasing them. Thank u so much for another fab tutorial
Wrap Snap N Go no heat curlers are great for sleeping in as they are soft and you can put them in your hair however you want really. Plus, you can toss them in the wash. With shorter hair though, tighter spirals really "shorten" the length of your hair. You have to give yourself enough time in the morning to tame the results.
Thanks for the review. I have similar short hair length as the you and I been wondering if these will work on me. After watching your video, I'll buy the larger size one for bigger curls.
These are sooo cute... I like the wider curls... I am not sure where to get these... I also just discovered you on here, your tips and tricks will help me so much! Thank you! Wish you posted more often!
I bought these before I had even seen this vid, everything she is saying is correct. They hurt because there kinda tight and pull your hair. Plus, I really like to sleep in my curlers and these are so uncomfortable to sleep in. But they do make soft curls. ( that's the only plus) but not worth it for me. Way to go girl! At least you tried it! Thanks for going through the pain to just to show us this product.
You are the only person that demoed both the narrow and the wide curlformers, (so far that I've seen,) and originally I ordered the narrow set. Now I'm going to cancel and order the wide ones.. you saved me from wasted money + disappointment. Thank you sooo much :)
I have these in the larger size (orange and pink) and I bought them a couple years ago. this product has been around for a while. she's right when she says they are uncomfortable while you sleep but it's a great spiral curl. I'm black so my hair while wet is different than most so the curl will be really tight so I recommend to try this on dry or almost dry hair. I bought these from Sally beauty.
Should have shown us what it would be like if you combed it and styled it after.Seems ok but try my home made remedy. Take a bunch of old shoulder pads cut out of old clothes.- I hate shoulder pads anyway. Roll you damp hair around them add bobby pin to hold in place . Sleep in them. Air dry or blow dry. I leave in a few days maybe. Remove and style or let hang tight. Very inexpensive . Use clean tissue paper from gift boxes or new shoe boxes- no need to buy roller paper. Or use brown paper strips.
Use a wide tooth comb to kinda fluff the curls, try using a serum instead pf a paste. Save the paste for finishing the look. You could also gently backcomb those areas that are separated to help cammoflage the areas. Love the bigger curls on you!
Those curlers can be found at Wish and the hair hook tool included. I love using those spiral curlers. TIPS : the amount of hair you use will alter the tightness of the curls. I found that if you use zigzags or random sectioning instead of straight lines when putting the curlers in will help to achieve a more pleasing look. Those curlers can curl those gals with hard to curl hair. When I use them my hair stays curled for days even if I spritz my hair with water.
I have the tight curlformers and my hair is very fine and thin, but they come out really natural. My hair is also not dyed and oily so maybe that’s why it doesn’t hurt me as much, but I LOVE the look they give my hair. They are super natural looking on me and I get a lot of compliments on my “curly hair” for them lol. I have stuck straight hair and this is one of the only things that gives me beautiful bouncing curls. If you like a tight curl don’t be afraid of the blue and green ones. My only recommendation is use smaller sections (which does mean you need more, but i got discount ones off ebay pretty cheap) and it wont pull as much. Im a heavy sleeper so these dont caude me issues
One thing I learned using sponge rollers: if you don't want to just leave the doll-ringlets, you need to give your hair a little bit of time to relax after taking out the curlers. A LITTLE BIT of water spritz might help speed up the process, but really, splitting up the curls goes better once they have had a bit of time to fall out.
my sister in law just got some of those last weekend for her daughter. she got the wide ones and used some mousse on her hair and they certainly out absolutely gorgeous!
OMG sooo cute!!! I think the curls look awesome. I've been using flexirods, and those are not comfy to sleep on. With the flexirods I get a super cute pin up style curl and they last a few days. Have you tried those?
Awesome video! Thanks for posting. I've used these and like them except for pulling them off because I find it can be somewhat painful if you aren't careful. 😳
A few tips!!! Instead of sleeping in them, try blow drying them for a few minutes and wrap your head in a cute scarf to wear them around during the day. An oversized beanie works perfectly in the winter too! And a headband would help solve your dilemma of the parting job you did. Even using a scarf as a headband would be super cute!
To help eliminate those section parts, in the front especially, make more sections. Instead of just 1 on your bangs do 3 or 4 it will help to hide them.
I love my blue and green ones! I have a bunch of hair. I took smaller sections and I got little springy spirals. Maybe try thinner sections? Worth a shot!
i just got done watching your 10 holiday hairstyles video and im trying to keep my hair as heatht as posible as im growing it out so just as i was looking up heatless curls for short hair i got a notification for this video lol. you are a life savor for those of us with short hair :)
I remember these from a Tanya Burr video about 4, 5 years ago with her best friend Kate. Defo going to invest in them now I know you can use them with short hair! Thanks
To stop such a defined line when you curl your hair with any type of roller I always do a zigzag part that way I'm not left with a straight line and it blends much better into any style x
Love your videos on heartless curlers.....I have the same type hair as you....colored and very fine....so you have been the most helpful to me on UA-cam!
Some people would not believe me if I said, those are the only thing that can curl my hair. I don't have extremely long hair. But it's thick and curls don't stay in. So I like those because a bit of hairspray holds those in well.
Love that you tried these. I've been wanting to for so long but have short hair and didn't know what it would look like, definitely need to invest in some now, and love that you reviewed both the narrow and the wide. I would have bought the narrow but not anymore, the wide did a much better job! Thanks!! Do you mind me asking how many packages or actual curl formers pieces you used of the wide?
I was looking for some short hair styles because Just cut my hair short and I love your short hair videos it gave me hope on my new hair ☺️💕 and your so much fun,
I absolutely love curlformers! I've been using them for about ten years and have learned many tricks with them:

+yoyoente wow thank you so much!!! Love your tips!! I'll definitely try them out next time.
yoyoente can you please tell me what the sizes are for the pink and orange. I want to buy them but they're are so many different options and I'm not sure which one is the right one. Plus I need a good deal most of them cost a lot of money.
these would be perfect for my granddaughter's hair.

Do zig zag sections so you can't see the part lines, and use a brick lay pattern. Those are really awesome!
Jamie Yarbrough can you please explain what that means?
atumasova . Instead of parting the hair in straight lines, part it with zig zag or curvy lines. That way when the curls are released it looks more natural and blended by the scalp area and you won't see where it was parted
Lia how far apart of a zigzag? I'm new to this
What do you mean by a brick-lay pattern?
I love this young lady. So innately sweet and well spoken. She’s cute. 😆
You suit theese curls so well, luv it
aww thank you!
Yeah i thought they actually looked really good!
Milana my hair is naturally curly like those curls...take your fingers at the scalp and move your fingers in a shaking motion and that will make your curls seperate and look fuller...xoxox Loretta

Can u plz make a video for straighting hair heatless? It will help ☺
Thanks for actually taking the time to try the curlers a second time to see if they turned out better! Definitely helpful 👍🏻

could you please invent styles with these curls bc that would actually help a lot you'd be my ultimate life saver
also you look so beautiful with curls omg
also you look so beautiful with curls omg
I was just telling my hubby that haha - great minds think alike!
Thanks dear!

I always put my hair into a French braid after I wash my hair, and leave it in over night, and I wake up to nice wavy/curly hair.
I do that too but my hair is fine so it looks crazy in the morning haha

Have you tried foam rollers, you bend they sell them in the uk - Primark they only a £1-£1,50 but they give you the perfect curl with damp hair
The wide ones worked great! Love those curls.

You totally look like a modern version of Marilyn Monroe with that hairstyle :D Stunning!
I liked the way they looked!! I am grateful that you spent on the larger ones, and found they pulled less. Thank you!

I love these types of videos!! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to do this.
Same here - so glad you enjoy them! thank you
I have really enjoyed watching your video's. I love that you properly test products and demonstrate how to use the products, I sometimes find the instructions very confusing. Thank you very much.
Thank you for this video it helped me so much I’ve had theses curlers for over a year now and now I finally know how
I have color treated and dry hair and I love these. HOWEVER you are supposed to dampen the hair, and I put a little bit of super skinny or some argon oil on my hair before I pull it through. IT makes it soft and its better for your hair. If you also hold the end open when you pulling it through it helps as well. It takes some practice. You're energy is highly contagious.

Nice video. Thanks for talking about the comfort level of curl formers.
Way to go girl! thank you for the video and taking the time to make this .... i wonder how it compares to flexirods
The results are STUNNING!
I think they turned out beautiful on you! love it. reminds me of meg ryans hair in City of Angels and I always wanted that hairstyle.
You are the only person that demoed both the narrow and the wide curlformers, (so far that I've seen,) and originally I ordered the narrow set. Now I'm going to cancel and order the wide ones.. you saved me from wasted money + disappointment. Thank you sooo much :)
Such a wonderful video! I have naturally wavy thick hair and now I am curious to see what would happen
so happy I found your channel!
On the topic of heatless curls for short hair, have you ever tried Bantu knots or headband curls?
Your hair looks pretty curly AND straight! Great information, thank you x
Absolutely love watching all of your videos. I haven't done anything yet. Don't have much time with my toddler
You have a fantastic personality and an awesome sense of humor! love the curls!
I always use these! A piece of advice is to twist your hair at the root just a tiny bit, it won't damage your hair as much if you do.
Great! Are you using the hook you bought separately? Thanks!
Laia Bertran uhm yeah she did
The final hairstyle was so cute. Bought some and going to try them.
you really are just so cute! recently cut my hair short and you've saved me!

I'm not sure if you've tried pin curls but that's what I use. Easy to sleep in and great curls.
One thing I learned using sponge rollers: if you don't want to just leave the doll-ringlets, you need to give your hair a little bit of time to relax after taking out the curlers. A LITTLE BIT of water spritz might help speed up the process, but really, splitting up the curls goes better once they have had a bit of time to fall out.
omg the end result was so pretty. you pulled it off well
my sister in law just got some of those last weekend for her daughter. she got the wide ones and used some mousse on her hair and they certainly out absolutely gorgeous!
turned out....stupid auto correct
Susan Cox what mouse did she use
What clips do you use when you section your hair? They look so grippy, yet comfortable!
They're the black croc clips from Amazon or sally's beauty - I have them linked in the description :)
tip: if it hurts, put the stick/hook above your head, facing down.
Interesting .
Im interested in knowing what type clip you are using to seperate your sections. Looks cool
Loving all your videos! It's way awesome to have ideas and tutorials for us girls with shorter hair! Sending good vibes your way! ❤️❤️❤️
It was so cool to watch how you pulled your hair through those thingys! Ingenious, so much better than ironing. I'm subscribed and liking, thanks!
My hair is already curly but i like watching your videos anyway!😂❤
you're the best
Milabu 💚💚💚
Milabu ❤😘
Sou Franco Nah, I think her hair is more wavy than curly. Curly is more like what she looked like afterwards.
Gillian Avant the girl who posted the comment said SHE has curly hair 🙃
i love these curlers iv had them since i was like 6 and i still use them all the time
Wow! Your finished result looks fantastic!
It's hard nowadays to find ways to tame and style thin hair. I have thin hair and all I find are tutorials for thick hair. subscribing!
To help eliminate those section parts, in the front especially, make more sections. Instead of just 1 on your bangs do 3 or 4 it will help to hide them.
You can get these curlers from eBay for really cheap :)
Putting hair gel in your hair when it is wet helps define the curls and reduce the frizz
I am thinking just add a little barrette-really sweet look!
do you use a head wrap when you sleep with them in? I find a head wrap makes overnight curls more comfortable.
Your curls turned out so pretty!
Thanks

To stop such a defined line when you curl your hair with any type of roller I always do a zigzag part that way I'm not left with a straight line and it blends much better into any style x
to get rid of that parting just flip your head upside down and shake your hair and massage it till the hair is big and voluminous
Love your videos on heartless curlers.....I have the same type hair as you....colored and very fine....so you have been the most helpful to me on UA-cam!
Thank you! :)

Have a look on eBay. You can get different style curlformers. There are zig-zag ones and ones that roll into themselves like a traditional curler.
Hi...i love watching ur video coz i always have short hair n ur tips help me a lot in styling my hair...
Some people would not believe me if I said, those are the only thing that can curl my hair. I don't have extremely long hair. But it's thick and curls don't stay in. So I like those because a bit of hairspray holds those in well.
make a video where you try to talk dutch! i love it when you try to do it :)
You look so pretty! You actually made me want to get a haircut and embrace my naturally curly hair.
beautiful... some of my curls get limp.. ill see if i get this for the untamable sides.
but.. ur eyeliner... i love it. got a vid for it??
