Hydration of Alkynes = Markovnikov Addition of Water | Keto-Enol Tautomerism

In this video we'll go over the commonly taught mechanism of the alkyne hydration giving the enol intermediate which then undergoes the keto-enol tautomerism to give the final product--ketone.

This is one of the trickier mechanisms for sure. I see many instructors just skip it altogether and say just “know the product” and how we get there is a sausage box.

I misspoke in the mechanism recap, it's of course an "enol" and not an "enolate"
