Thank you for this video and the trick about dragging the glue bottle, rather than pushing it.🙂
It's funny, you knife looks nearly like an "Opinel"..

Bob. The best part of your builds is that you teach us how to accomplish the build so that it will come together not only mechanically but artistically as well. The detail and fabrication, not only of the boat but all of the parts that go into the construction are clearly and meticulously laid out for even the novice to follow. You live by your mantra to "build it beautiful", which you always do. Your artistry is an example for us all to achieve. You keep us "glued together" :-) awaiting the next episode to come.

Once those last two plank were glued in and the clamp blocks were removed the result was beautiful. Thanks for sharing another great episode of The Art of Boat Building. Cheers!

Rob Macks of Laughing Loon Canoe & Kayak is the guy who brought the heat-gun method of pre-bending strips to strip-building.

This has been wonderful to watch. We recently built a cedar strip canoe so we really understand the work and the issues. Will you be bringing these to Mystic this year? We will be there in the I built it myself section. Be lovely to chat with you.

Hello Bob, very good kayak construction - shape perfect, even with the center bar in the hull with the light wood (Can. Maple ?) I would have cut the longitudinal joints at a ridge of 60 - 70°, not at an 90° angle with the same color of the cedar, so the appearance will be much more harmonious. A light keel would bring a very good straight run.

I know there are many different ways to mark a cut. I prefer using a knife.
