Las Vegas dose not have very good flying weather this time of year either, 108 degrees with 15-25 mph winds all day, But No rain in months 🙄

Hi Rob, I didn't think Mick Reeves did a Chipmunk. I know he does a 1/4 and 1/3 Moth the only 1/6 model he does is a Spitfire.
They normally answer email pretty quick. Have a look on rcscalebuilder.com there are no chipmunks as far as I can see but you can get some really great hints and tips on doing super scale models. You have shown us many times really good sport models why not show us the real stuff may take a while but I know from what I am doing at the moment with a DB Spitfire how much fun. keep up the good work.

What sets off super glue is moisture, Spruce being more dense than balsa blocks that required moisture thus taking a bit longer to kick. Been using CA glue for many years, 90% of my joints are made with CA

Super glue is the only way to go on that planking. What a nightmare it would be using normal wood glues.

Seeing that spruce reminds me of a suitable replacement that the LMA boys are using in lieu,it is called Cypress wood, why use it is place of spruce ? well two good reasons one is it is half the price and two is there is a worldwide shortage of Stitka spruce that is affecting the homebuilders at least in the UK.
I think laying on the top half like that was a wise move to make sure there are no problems in alignment later, the two half system on fuselages certainly works well for types like the Chipmunk,Dennis Bryant structures are good and well designed.
Surprising how many people have purchased the plan/planpack for the Chipmunk in recent years but not yet built it,I missed one on EBay recently which went for £50 complete pack plus the extra wood required an absolute bargain.
Well if cyno is good enough for the sticking parts of the space capsule together it is fine for model building and look how the Storch stood up when that went into the beach ! proof that the structure holds together.
This is the worst spell of bad weather that I can remember for this time of year and it looks like we are going to have to sit it out once again until we can get flying,so its workshop jobs and getting models built,as Rob points out nothing else we can do ?

Since the invention of electronic gyros you can fly any "powerful" model in strong winds. Maidens should always in ideal circumstances. First test the model and add the gyro later. Next week time to fly.
