One of the funniest and silliest things about Jem and the Holograms: the love triangle and not trusting him because he likes two girls at once... Over a situation she herself created and could resolve with a few words but she drags it out so long if she actually does tell him he'll get furious for not telling him sooner.
I know! At least provide a legit reason why she can't tell him because it's pretty much deception for NO REASON, especially when he's supposed to be the closest one to her.
But at the same time she's used hologram hers before why couldn't she just be sitting down or talking to Rio or like kissing him and then she makes a hologram jem see them and leave angry that he was kissing another girl with ios her self but he doesn't know that and he would run after jem but she would stop him and say you were dating jem behind my back I can't believe you rio and than she leaves and like he wouldn't be involved with both jem and jerrica with is just her being jem and herself
@ Just Becca But then they couldn't teach little girls, (and not-so-little, ones) that lying to your boyfriend, is okay, as long as it's in your best interest, and you only cheat on him, a teensie-bit. See, the oligarchy, like to use propaganda like that, to keep division in the sexes - that way, we'er too busy fighting each-other, to go after, _them,_ and demand our rights be upheld. See how that works? It's basic, divide and rule, stuff - like "feminism".
The sad part is that before the Jem alter-ego they had a pretty solid relationship. They were childhood sweethearts and he was her friend when her mom died. When she started being Jem it complicated everything.
When I was younger I never understood why Jerrica didn’t just tell Rio the truth. I understand now because I was put in a similar situation with my alopecia. I feel like I’m deceiving people I meet with my wigs and the longer it goes on the more it looks bad on me for not being open about it. I’m constantly coming back to this song now because it resonates with me so much

This is the song that got me into Jem and the Holograms. About 6 years ago I saw this song on youtube and had to see this show, so I went and bought the entire show on DVD.
I know! Jerrica became overly dowdy looking after the pilot, it;s like they were trying extra hard to make a distinction between stick in the mud, responsible Jerrica and care free easy going Jem.
The tension of this song and the visuals 🔥This concept became so interesting by season 3, where Jem had developed into a distinct personality and was falling in love with Riot, while Jerrica was still in love with Rio, and she was fighting with herself. They were getting into some really heavy split-personality stuff, I can't imagine how things would have developed if the show hadn't ended then. It was basically an animated telenovela, nobody else in North America has done something like it since.
+gibbs615 Yea, but can you really trust a guy that cheats with two girls at once (three if you include that "Midsummer Madness" episode)? Even though he says he "HATES lies and deception?" He didn't know Jerrica was Jem. Granted she could have just told him Day 1 (maybe they didn't really know each other for that long and she had trust issues? I have no clue...). But even if she did tell him, she'll eventually have to talk about Synergy--unpatened technology that she was sworn to keep secret at request of her dead father, and Synergy was really none of Rio's business. (Knowing could have also put his life in unnecessary danger as well.) To top it all off he had jealousy/anger management issues: If they had an argument and broke up, he'd probably just get mad, lose control and let it slip somehow (it really didn't take much). I'd say just to break up with the fool, but Jerrica had dependency issues going on (I guess because both of her parents were gone, she wanted someone to love and cling to?) so she wasn't breaking up with him any time soon........ Or maybe they both crazy and I'm over-thinking it....lol
+That Other Gal Okay perhaps that's all true but STILL...She shouldn't have been keeping secrets from her boyfriend! She should have just told him everything that's happened from day 1, or after sometime and she did finally tell him and he DID get angry about it (as shown from synergy's simulation prediction which turned out to be true in that episode "Glitter and Gold") he just needed some time to realize that he was making a BIG mistake leaving her and that she HAD to tell him the truth so there would be no more secrets between them. If he had been in on her secret, he could have helped them out! They REALLY should have made a Season 3 episode of when he FINALLY did find out somehow.
gibbs615 They did make a season 3, but the show ended so...inconclusive-ish! I mean there were so many unresolved conflicts and stuff that didn't make sense. I think the first time she met him as Jem I believe I remember that she was going to tell him (or something like that) but I think the Misfits did some crazy stuff and interrupted them. She also attempted a second time but I think that's when he made that "I hate lies and deception" phrase and she refrained from confessing. And I'm like, "Dang, Rio, well you cheatin', so..." But it would have been something though if he knew all along (which would explain how he could "hate lies and deception" and still be okay with cheating). That's why I really think this show needs a reboot and some polish to the story so it can finally have a proper ending. Jerrica and Rio had some real issues that needed working out and that ending did it no justice. lol
@109071962334317054777 I know they made a season 3! Yeah she was gonna try to tell him that first time and those damn misfits did interrupt with their CARRYING ON NONSENSE! Then that second time she should have just told him no matter WHAT happened and even if he did get upset about it he just needed some time to let it sink in that he was making a big mistake. And yeah they should have done MORE episodes of season 3 cause there were some other unresolved things like Rio finally finding out somehow and there was also that thing about Danse and her father attempting to find her mother after all those years. At least Banee finally got her father back like she always wanted.

Jerrica caused all her problems with Rio. He was trying to resist his attraction to Jem, then Jerrica as Jem kept trying to get Rio to like her, then she's jealous of her alter ego. Realizing that Jem couldn't last forever she should have left it alone, but then we wouldn't have that conflict in the story would we. :D
That's what I don't get (now, as a kid I didn't question it) why did Jerrica as Jem go after Rio. Like you know he's with someone cause that someone else is YOU! Like was she trying to test him at first ? And if so why wouldn't she dump him right away? #thinkingtoomuchaboutfictionallovetriangles
And they did pretty quickly, too:) I have to say that if you compare this one to "Dear Diary", "Who is he kissing?" or "Alone again", it's astonishing how artistic the show gets!

The fact that she doesn’t trusts him enough to tell him the truth is kinda sad, because she never stopped him to go after Jem, I always felt that Jerrica felt that she deserved it, and because of that she stopped talking to him about the situation with Jem. Rio is trash anyways, all this time he thought that they were separated persons and believed that he was cheating on jerrica, and putting aside the first chapters, he never cared or stopped it.
Yeah, but in the last season synergy basically showed Jerrica that Rio would only cheat on her with her. Like Rio subconsciously knows that it's jerrica even when it doesn't look like her. We will always find something we don't like about a show becuse they need more unnecessary drama to have more seasons and really a good show

They were BOTH no good for each other. Rio: For going out with Jem behind Jerrica's back. And also with yet "another girl" that was also Jerrica when she started getting jealous of herself and questioning of whether she should tell him. Jerrica/Jem: For leading poor Rio on, toying with his emotions, and just a huge betrayal of trust. If she truly knew and loved him she should have immediately told him the moment she was forming the band. Not only that but she has cheated on him with other men. Once as a teenager with the top villain of the series and another with that male lead singer the Misfits brought in. I'm also going to throw shade at her friends/family for NOT telling off Jerrica and setting her straight. Like a GOOD support group does. If your family/friends aren't willing to call you out when you do bad? Find better friends/family. ALL of this would be settled if she just told Rio when they FIRST started the band. Having Rio in on it would provide some extra muscle to the group and all good relationships are built on a foundation of trust and honesty. To be frank I don't know whether or not to say they deserve each other at this point. They would need sooooo much couple's counseling.
@@gibbs615yeah, if Netflix were to give Jem a reimagining like they did with Voltron and He Man, they would’ve done this plot line in like 10 episodes. Kinda like what My Adventures With Superman did.
She needed to tell him from the start or just not hit on him as Jem. Also, I am thinking Jerrica isn't actually a good person. Sure she does a lot of charity but she is using an unfair advantage to her own ends, the whole thing started because she was just going to take money out of the music company for house repairs rather than working for it or holding a charity fundraiser, she elected not to tell her boyfriend about her identity swap or Synergy but then immediately started hitting on him, and once she has her music company we only ever see her promoting another band once which she dumps when the Misfits taunt her a little.
I always hated and resent Jerrica for not telling Rio the Damn truth and causing all this drama in the first place. She is literally beyond stupid for never being honest with him. And she's always complaining about jem being better than her and more glamorous than and gets mad at Rio paying more attention to jem while she is Jem. Jerrica makes me sick to my stomach.
technically rio cheated on jerrica with jem because he had no idea they were the same person therefore he was secretly dating both of them. and why tf wouldn’t jerrica tell him that she was jem, they’re both honestly in the wrong for this. And how can Rio not tell that Jem and Jerrica are the same! He’s been kissing both of them he should at least have a clue
Never liked Jem's clothes though she was the one that wore the most designer styles. Hated the constant sweetheart neckline strapless dresses she wore.
Rio gets angry, because he gets tired of Jem's weird excuses for not being able to be with him sometimes, and for lots of other little things. He gets jealous sometimes too, but not very often, and it all could have been avoided anyway, , if she could stop being insecure, and trust him with her secret. But then they couldn't teach little girls, that's it's okay to lie to your boyfriend, even if there isn't a legitimate reason or excuse. There's lots of other things they do in the name of "female-empowerment", (female-entitlement), like having a young woman, who's apparently never been to business school, come in and take over a multi-million dollar corporation, and run it all by herself. What a JOKE! And how about that time she was performing 'I got my eye on you" and pointing at Rio, and acting all condescending, as if *_he_* were the dishonest one - like he's some kind of naughty little boy. The series if _full_ of propaganda like that, meant to delude females, and make them feel justified in, and entitled to, lying and manipulating men.

@@gibbs615yeah, if Netflix were to give Jem a reimagining like they did with Voltron and He Man, they would’ve done this plot line in like 10 episodes. Kinda like what My Adventures With Superman did.
@@nerdgeekman That would be a good idea.
DECEPTION
DISGRACE
She needed to tell him from the start or just not hit on him as Jem. Also, I am thinking Jerrica isn't actually a good person. Sure she does a lot of charity but she is using an unfair advantage to her own ends, the whole thing started because she was just going to take money out of the music company for house repairs rather than working for it or holding a charity fundraiser, she elected not to tell her boyfriend about her identity swap or Synergy but then immediately started hitting on him, and once she has her music company we only ever see her promoting another band once which she dumps when the Misfits taunt her a little.
I agree, Jerrica really should've just told her boyfriend Rio everything from day one.
IDW:why is this hear again?
I have
It's kind like Jerrica is dr jekyll and Jem is mr hyde ;)
0:55 Didn't Hannah Montana do the same move in the opening credits? 🤣🤣
Well the previous song was about Jem seducing Rio
I guess she had second thoughts
technically rio cheated on jerrica with jem because he had no idea they were the same person therefore he was secretly dating both of them. and why tf wouldn’t jerrica tell him that she was jem, they’re both honestly in the wrong for this. And how can Rio not tell that Jem and Jerrica are the same! He’s been kissing both of them he should at least have a clue
Never liked Jem's clothes though she was the one that wore the most designer styles. Hated the constant sweetheart neckline strapless dresses she wore.
tbh i think this show should have ended with herrica / jem being singls cause rio is an angry jealous vheater
and riot has his own issues to work out
Rio gets angry, because he gets tired of Jem's weird excuses for not being able to be with him sometimes, and for lots of other little things.
@@ToyotaGuy1971 Jerrica really should've just told Rio everything from day one, but if she needed some time first and then told him and if Rio did get upset then he just needed some time to let it sink in that he was making a big mistake and that she needed to tell him the truth so there would be no more secrets between them.
@@ToyotaGuy1971 what is wrong with female empowerment? As if cartoons did not have countless examples of "men can do it all" messages.
@@gracianomaso3333 That's a rhetorical-question; it's not about empowerment; it's about deluding little girls.
@@ToyotaGuy1971 Right. Fooling them.into thinking they csb do anything that they put their minds into. Whay a bad message.
Tbh rio a cheater bc in his mind it’s 2 separate girls he fw
What does that say about Rio he's a two timing cheater.
She's kind of goading it on...
Exactly, do you know she almost cheated on him with riot?
@@andiedandy168 Didn't she kiss Riot? That's cheating in most females book, if a man does it, but you know those double-standards....
@@ToyotaGuy1971 I think she kissed him either when she was on the island with him(not sure) or she almost kiss him when he was feeling vulnerable that his mom was sick but he pushed her away.
@@andiedandy168 I could swear they kissed the first time they were alone together on that cliff where that harp sculpture was. Maybe not, but I remember feeling like she should have know Riot was a pretty sleazy kind of guy (it's so obvious) and I thought she should have known better than to be anywhere alone with that ego-maniacle, creep, if she really cares about Rio. I get that she was persuing, (spelled incorrectly, )a business opportunity, but he's such a creeper, I still think she should have sensed that, and stayed away from him. I mean, a business opportunity, isn't worth risking your love over, in my opinion.
the barbie show lol
