So let me get this straight... (With mostly lack of detail) So War gets blamed for doing his job (coming after the seven seals break) and eventually broke the code and got imprisoned Death tries and succeeds In restoring Man to the balance which brings back the problem everyone was afraid of... The power through the potential of humanity.. Through sacrificing himself fittingly And at the same time Fury loses her purpose despite hunting down the seven deadly sins and waiting on the seven seals to break so she can ride with her brothers .. But eventually learns that the council is corrupt essentially...and uses the vessel of the Lord of The Hollows to escape and protect humanity... For now So we don't know what strife was doing during this time (but we can assume helping scraping the last of humanity for restoration later since he saves fury and helps kill some demons So essentially the cops of heaven and hell are used unfairly only for conspiring leads to all 4 being unchained by everyone (council) so that they attain justice through the success of humanity and the much deserved justice of the 4 Last but not least War (the one who "started" all this ) is killed (willingly) only to be resurrected again by the broken seventh seal Thus returning death from the well... Bringing back Fury from humanity (since she was protecting humans but we assume they just swallow her up and summon them all at once) and strife (from wherever he came) Ok got it 👍🏾👌🏾😅😂
Yep, basically haha! Except the 7th seal wasn't broken when War was first called. It was the Council that sent only the call to War, as their beginning of their betrayal. Which is why Abaddon was shocked to see him!
The Ashen Hollow thank you I was still wondering why they didn't call the other 3 but whatever thank you Also I have another question Why doesn't the horseman have some second sense when the seven seals get broken? Like "oh third seal is broken oh welp " besides all 7 getting broken shouldn't they have knowledge of when the others get broken?
chayse choyce I think it’s possible each of the seals summon a certain group/army of a certain race designated by the seal Maybe the seals are meant to be broken by the council whenever they deemed humanity ready (originally before we found out they are corrupt within Darksiders 3) because we notice the enemies/characters of the first game there’s heaven and hell (possibly 2 seals) the constructs of the makers (the gate people) possibly a third seal) some wraiths from the land of the dead it seemed (the lady ghost things with swords for arms possibly a fourth seal) one for humankind (fifth) then a sixth in which I have no idea then the seventh for the horsemen This is just a theory but what if no one is supposed to know when the end war is therefore no one will have an advantage 🤷🏻♂️
A minor thing that I understood somewhat different when presented here. In the battle Death vs. Samael you sound like they fight as equals. That is not the impression I got. It felt like Samael was not honestly trying. He toyed with Death. And the battle ends as Death is able to inflict a shallow cut on Samael's cheek, impressing the demon lord with his skill.
nomercy8989 What didn't you like about 2? I started rushing through 1 after about 4 hours of gameplay. Finished it in a day's time and was glad to move on to 2 again. I've already been enjoying 2 for over a week. A far better game in my opinion.

The cool thing is, based on spoilers, DS3 honors the franchise and does put more lore into it. So I’m hopeful.
Fantastic vid, thank you very much for the concise and important "Story So Far" :D
Thank you, friend! And thanks for watching! =]
At least I know how death is alive thanks
thank god someone told the lore in a way i can understand it ♥ thank you
With Strife getting a spinoff game it looks as if Darksiders 4 will be the last main entry into the series. Which makes sense because the number of main entry games shall ever be.. 4.
Incredible character and environment designs, deep and compelling lore, fun gameplay, and sadly, highly underrated and overlooked. I really hope the next game gets more funding.
Got a darksiders ad on this.
It's a sign!
Antonio Klaic same😜
i truly enjoyed the way you unfolded the story of the riders, i've played ds1 and ds2 and to be honest wasn't completely sure of what was going on, the lore is rich and sometimes i got lost, great video
The journey so far...
18:12 - 18:16 War have the same voice as Ilidan Stormrage from World Of Warcraft. They are both voice by the same actor that goes by the name Liam O'Brien. Also much thanks to The Ashen Hollow taking time and making the video to explain us the lore of the 1,2 and his other video for the 3th game. The first two games are made by Vigil Game, but the third one is made by Gunfire Games so im grateful to them for continuing the lore left by the first studio and not messing it up while making a great game to experience.
I wonder how long death was knocked out when the souls were returned to him
EXCELLENT summary! It was sooooo many years ago I played Darksider 1. Darksiders 2 more recently but had forgotten about that story too 😅 But now when I start Darksiders 3, I feel that I know it all now again! Thanks! ^^
Thanks dude! Enjoy DS3 it's a great one! =)
Deepest of lores! I liked the first game the second not so much. I'm curious to see what they do with the third one.
This was a really well done video!
Thank you kindly, buddy! =]
Never played these games but hot damn is the story on point!
Blaine Alexander I played this since ages ago like 2012 or something I believe haha it’s fucking amazing glad I bugged this game in the first place despite I didn’t even know what this games is just brought it 😂
Completed 2 twice and my brother completed 1 three times
"No... not alone" it makes me cry every time. ;-; And I only later found out it was the voice of ILLIDAN STORMRAGE! Liam O'Brien! :O
Angry Joe shouted you out man, great job!
Thank you very much, I have been looking for a video like this which explains the story. The like is fully deserved, and if I can give you 1000 like than I will without any hesitation.
Thanks, buddy! That means a ton! =D
angry joe sent me here
Holy cow! Welcome welcome! =D
Same, good work! Love this series, always have.
This series is better than I thought. The writers of this entire story is amazing, The 4 Horsemen of the Nephilim. I only admired the artwork for a long time and never stop to look deeper until now. And as it's revealed " The number of the riders shall ever be...Four. Hell Yes, this should have been a movie for sure, can you guys imagine.
Damn. Thank god ps plus had Darksiders 3 for free download. Not familiar with the series but it looks epic so far
I just downloaded it a few days ago I'm enjoying and very excited for darksiders genesis
very nice video dude!!! thanks a lot
Thank you, kindly! =]
Good work! Now I'm going to buy these games.
Steam sale has the SUPER cheap right now! You won't regret it! =]
Please do. We want them to make enough money to keep the franchise going.
I've been looking for a video like this ever since Darksiders 3 was first teased. Thank you for finally providing me the video I so heavily sought. Having played both games and loved them, I was always a little confused with the second game where it took place cannonically, thanks.
Angry joe told me about this
i just love that line of i choose what a coward once did not i dont know why the final line is also damn is sends chills when you listen to the whole cutscene it has to be one of the best setups in years
I so want this game so much
Imagine Darksiders Multiplayer, where players can choose the riders and upgrade them and become stronger, I vote for this!!!
So let me get this straight... (With mostly lack of detail)
So War gets blamed for doing his job (coming after the seven seals break) and eventually broke the code and got imprisoned
Death tries and succeeds In restoring Man to the balance which brings back the problem everyone was afraid of... The power through the potential of humanity.. Through sacrificing himself fittingly
And at the same time Fury loses her purpose despite hunting down the seven deadly sins and waiting on the seven seals to break so she can ride with her brothers .. But eventually learns that the council is corrupt essentially...and uses the vessel of the Lord of The Hollows to escape and protect humanity... For now
So we don't know what strife was doing during this time (but we can assume helping scraping the last of humanity for restoration later since he saves fury and helps kill some demons
So essentially the cops of heaven and hell are used unfairly only for conspiring leads to all 4 being unchained by everyone (council) so that they attain justice through the success of humanity and the much deserved justice of the 4
Last but not least War (the one who "started" all this ) is killed (willingly) only to be resurrected again by the broken seventh seal
Thus returning death from the well... Bringing back Fury from humanity (since she was protecting humans but we assume they just swallow her up and summon them all at once) and strife (from wherever he came)
Ok got it 👍🏾👌🏾😅😂
Yep, basically haha! Except the 7th seal wasn't broken when War was first called. It was the Council that sent only the call to War, as their beginning of their betrayal. Which is why Abaddon was shocked to see him!
The Ashen Hollow thank you I was still wondering why they didn't call the other 3 but whatever thank you
Also I have another question
Why doesn't the horseman have some second sense when the seven seals get broken? Like "oh third seal is broken oh welp " besides all 7 getting broken shouldn't they have knowledge of when the others get broken?
chayse choyce I think it’s possible each of the seals summon a certain group/army of a certain race designated by the seal
Maybe the seals are meant to be broken by the council whenever they deemed humanity ready (originally before we found out they are corrupt within Darksiders 3) because we notice the enemies/characters of the first game there’s heaven and hell (possibly 2 seals) the constructs of the makers (the gate people) possibly a third seal) some wraiths from the land of the dead it seemed (the lady ghost things with swords for arms possibly a fourth seal) one for humankind (fifth) then a sixth in which I have no idea then the seventh for the horsemen
This is just a theory but what if no one is supposed to know when the end war is therefore no one will have an advantage 🤷🏻♂️
"No, not alone!"
This sounded like Illidan, is it the same voice actor?
It is indeed! =]
The “FOUR” in the last part gave me goosebumps.. damn narrator and his voice too good 👌
I'm trying to get into this game, thanks for helping me getting to like it and eventually buy it some day/
YEEESSS THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
thank you now its more clear :)
Ok this is awesome. I have just gotten to the wyrm and I'm about to get my horse time to finish DS1.
Angry Joe sent me :)
Thanks 4 this!
So death isn't dead either since the seal is broken he is gonna answer the call and be revived?
At the end of 1 where they all come crashing down yeah, Death and War are both revived.
The 7th seal being broken at the end of DS1 resurrected Death.
"No, Not Alone"
Gave me goosebumps
Oh my.
I could listen to you all day, good vid man .
I love the first game so much! 2 was alright but not even close to the original
Yeah, they definitely took the gameplay in a different direction in 2. I'm hoping we get the best of both games in 3! =]
Thankfully they went back to the style of the first game.
nomercy8989 What didn't you like about 2? I started rushing through 1 after about 4 hours of gameplay. Finished it in a day's time and was glad to move on to 2 again. I've already been enjoying 2 for over a week. A far better game in my opinion.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Agreed, part1 was great but part2 was easily better than the original.
@@TheStraightestWhitest It all depends on the style of game you would prefer. DS 3 went in another play style again. I think it is brave of the company to try something like this and not sticking to just one formula.
I cannot unhear Illidan whenever War speaks and the freaking Joker as the Watcher.
I wish I could drop more than one like.
I’ve been playing Darksiders II to try and complete it before playing 3 and now I know I can understand the story.
Darksiders IV (STRIFE) 2024
Why 2024
That... was beautiful... I haven’t gone through a recap of this at all after I beat DS2 when it was released. So it’s been a long long while. Got DS3 coming in the mail soon and can’t wait to get on it.
So can i ship war and uriel
Yes, please!
Thank you for making this!!
Death looks like mick Thompson from slipknot.
Common he does. Lol
Just significantly Taller, saw Mick before, he is Tiny compared to Connan
I thought exactly the same haha
@@RvnWolf Mick is 1,93 and who is connan?
Literally the add before your video was a trailer for darksider 3, and explained the intire plot
Oh, Fate! You crazy goose! ;)
LILITH IS TOO T H I C C
*TOO T H I C C!!!!!!!!*
Thank you so so much. This clears everything up.
Ahh that nice and sexy Matthew Mercer War voice
Technically it's Liam O'Brien, but we're all about that Critcal Role hype train here!
The Ashen Hollow oh snap really. I feel bad now lol. I knew that specific voice was familiar because it was used during a critical roll session and thought it was Matthew
Yeah, it's practically the same voice he uses for Illidan Stormrage is well, it's bad ass! But yeah, Matt has likely used a voice like that in a session, there is no voice that man cannot do lol!
this story is so facinating
I got here, because of angry Joe
Very well explained i enjoyed it ! Tnx for doing this video now i understand the story better.
Angry joe army her
That's CRAZY! Hope you enjoy the channel! =D
This helped a lot just stared playing this game thx
That's awesome, enjoy em! Thanks for watching! =D
So then Darksiders 2, 3 and even Strife's story will happen during the 100 years that War is chained?
yes sir
Yes. Give or take a couple years between journeys.
@@MGRuthless obviously. But the stories of each game take place roughly at the same time or close together. Because at the end of 3, War is no longer chained by the council so that means he set out to clear his name some point before the final fight against Envy.
Back to watch again! Such a great lore recap! :)
Why didn't you mention the book at all? It is canon I believe.
It is. I wanted this to be a fairly basic, but still info plentiful, recap. It seems likely I'll pursue Darksiders lore in videos much further where it will be more appropriate to dive into every inch of canon! I just didn't want this video to be too overloading! =]
@@TheAshenHollow Okay, fair enough
Im so excited for the 3rd game!! Ive been playing since the start and i really hope the game sells well. I hope Darksiders 4s gameplay with Strife is like modern 3rd person shooters of today
It wasn’t the scribe’s second sight but a pool of mystical water that allowed Death to travel to Earth and retrieve the Rod of Arafel. It darkened the Archon’s mind from constant usage
