- Did you know that this side-friction wooden coaster is a copy of Rutschebanen that opened in 1932 at Bakken in Denmark? Vuoristorata is Finnish for roller coaster and it was built as a temporary attraction to help lure tourists of the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki to Linnanmäki amusement park. The ride has been carefully maintained throughout the years and apart from the cars, nothing remains of the original structure as all the wooden parts have been replaced at least five times.
Linnanmäki is located in Helsinki, Finland.

Was at Linnanmäki a couple of days ago and the coaster is running as gracefully as ever, its truly fantastic how well it has been maintained to this day, 69 years is not a short time. And yes, it still has its break man at the back.
As someone living in Finland, and only 30 kilometres away from Helsinki (where Linnanmäki is), it is safe to say that this coaster is still an absolute classic! I love how young people still appreciates this 70 year old masterpiece! :D
If you call that boring, you're wrong. It's awesome, and I know cos im from Finland.

@@MineJulRBX Looks pretty much same to me but this one has the brake man and he controls the speed pretty much. Some of them go really fast and some slow+it depends a bit on of they have 2 or 3 cars on the coaster.

I like how there's a fairly modern coaster right next to a side friction coaster. As for the coaster itself this one has some good airtime hills.

yes. well at least it was in 2012, when i've been there the last time, i don't think, things have changed yet. also very nice: if you enter the queue, there is some kind "wall of fame", with a picture of every former and present brake man working there. :D

Yeah. Still in 2016. Brakemen are one of the "Common parts" on that ride. We have even "Ravintola Jarrumies" what is "Restaurant Brake man" in finnish.
Brakemans are the most wanted job in Linnanmäki and when this Rollercoaster came to linnanmäki only the jet pilots could be at Brakemans job😂
When its up it actually goes down just by gravity and i believe the way up is also provided by the windmales so it doesn't use any extra energy

What I've gathered from watch coaster vids: stick to medium-sized wooden coasters because I'm too chicken for anything else. NO LOOPS. LOL
That's a fast lift hill and it looks like this coaster has a lot of air time for a side friction roller coaster. It would be fun to be a brake man because you get to ride everytime!

Yeah. When your at the front it takes ages until it drops. And the jump at the one of the last drops is way more extreme

Last time i visited Linnanmäki i went to Vuoristorata like 5 times. Three times in a row.
Vuoristorata oli Euroopan suurin vuoristorata valmistuessaan 1951. Valdemar Lebeck suunnittelema puu vuoristorata on hieman suurempi vuonna 1932 valmistunutta Kööpenhaminan kaimaansa.

Just Yesterday i was in Linnanmäki and i went to there! It was awasome! I also went to The Very Big/highest drop Tower! It was so scary when it dropped, and my organs just could not move it was amazing! 2019 22 of July.

I have been on this so many times. Used to go there a lot as a kid. Does it still have the manual breaks controlled by the ride operator standing on the last car?
As far as I know only Senic Railyway in Melbourne Australia and this one still have on-ride break operators. Does anyone know any others?
There are still a few other coasters with brakemen, including some that we've posted videos of on this channel like Rutschebanen at Tivoli Gardens in Denmark, Montaña Suiza at Parque de Atracciones Monte Igueldo in Spain and Roller Coaster at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach in the UK.

We have a few members from Australia who contribute to the forums and CoasterForce is based out of the UK, so most of our members are not from the USA. There is quite a bit of discussion about coasters and parks in Australia and your input would be nice to have, especially for members who are planning trips down under.
You need to be part of the CoasterForce management team to film for us, so you would have to become an active and trusted member first.

its not a copy it just looks the same, like i dont thimk theyve ever heard of any bakken like that has to be the most random amusement park u could find in google

East Coast(er) General has a Facebook account, but it's not a fan page like the one we have for CoasterForce. He also has his own UA-cam channel. We posted a link to his channel at the top of the CF Member Channels list in the right pane of our UA-cam channel homepage.

thaisi76 it's actually not boring, your stomach tickles nicely when going down, the wood smells really nice and the view is beautiful. Yeah it's not the type of roller coaster where you scream and stuff, it's the type of roller coaster where you enjoy the ride, smell and view. It gives you a really nice and happy feeling.

It was built for olympics because of tourists.. What do you except? (You should probably test it out to see it's not any kind of boring ride. You will see.)
