  • Reference designators show the location of unique parts on a board with text markings in the silkscreen. This video shows how to modify the text properties of the designators to make them fit into the smaller parts of your design and how to modify the defaults for future character sizes.

Your video help me a lot, thank you very much!
Now I have a problem, is it possible to change multiple components from front side to back side in the same time?

How do you change reference designator values and back propagate them back into the schematic? I like to make the reference designators sequential with physical position for ease of assembly and debugging.

I have 5.1.5 and don't have a setup on top of my pcbnew, I also can't find a "text and drawings" header anywhere. I found a "text and graphics" with changeable text size and thickness but it doesn't appear to do anything when i change it. How do I globally change the size of component text that are already on the board? Thanks

Is that a way to back modify the RefDes?

I know " rigid-flex" boards can't be done in kicad , but i want from you, to make a video and show me ( as ) your point of view about this

But have you tried the new 5.1.2 Text settings? They made it twice as complicated. But it gets worse. Now when I select reference designators and change their size it duplicate every reference designator with a twin text item D:
Don't get me wrong, other than this one little thing I love the new UI.

Having the references behind the top copper is so annoying, especially when you have filled zones where you have to work like blind. Can't something be done about this ? I'm afraid that "legacy toolset" might disappear one day and then KiCAD's PCBnew may become unusable for making PCB with filled zones.
