Favorite hymn of all time for my wife and me. We sang it at our wedding.

Just discovered this hymn in my hymnbook today and wondered about the tune. This video is much appreciated as I can now learn it and sing it gladly.
No more bitter cup for me... :)

@@pastorbills8039 Pretty good... rarely preached. It's life-changing when God opens your eyes to it.
I think the thing that needs to be clarified is the "how". How do I experience the victory associated with the reality?
The verse that has been helpful for me is this: "If anyone wants to come after me, he must deny himself, daily take up His cross, and follow me."
This denial of self is really the choice to say, "I value the will of God more than I value the life that my soul desires."
It's also the "way of escape" God promises from the trial that enables us to endure those trials... the way of saying with our Savior, "Nevetheless, not my will but Thy will be done."
After 10 years of learning these things, the Lord has finally showed me that I will only make this choice if I love Him more than I love myself. And I've seen that the more I obey Him, the more I grow to love Him. It's a blessed circle: obedience that leads to increased love which leads to a growing desire to obey.
God bless... keep humbling yourself to God... He is no respector of persons.

I prefer another tune but this ones good too. Not sure which one was first or wrote it. I will have to look into it.

Draught, British spelling of "draft", pronounced same as American pronunciation except possibly with an "ah" for the "a". Meaning in this context a swig or drink of liquid from the cup of blessing.

Or that the believer's cup will always be filled with blessing evermore since Jesus, in the believer's place, drained the last dark drop of the Father's wrath that humans deserved for our sins.

This is so beautiful. What is the name of this tune?

Hi J-Ratt88, the tune is in Wyeth’s Second Repository, composed in 1813.

Capitol Hill Baptist Church Ah I see, I thought in the description that it was saying where there the tune was from, not the name of the itself. Thank you!

@@j-rat8887 You are quite correct! I did some digging, and I found it was an anonymous tune attributed to Elkanah Kelsay Dare (an editor of Wyeth's Second Repository), named Morning Song. It is also known as Consolation, an Ulster folk melody.
