- If you have a trial or standard pay-as-you-go OpenAI account, then you can only use the older ChatGPT 3.5 bot... or can you?! Here's a perfectly legitimate way to use ChatGPT-4 using OpenAI's system (no third party sites or solutions required). If you haven't already signed up to use the GPT-4 trial, you should also do that too: openai.com/waitlist/gpt-4-api (I had already done this and been accepted on the waitlist before making this video).

Nice video, Al - thanks… I created an openAI account, and I have the playground - but I thought after you burn through the trial, or tokens they allot you, that you have to supply a CC and begin purchasing them. After a couple months, and me NOT putting in a CC#, the playground API always returns ‘above max limit’ or something.
I’ll revisit the playground; maybe the tokens are only when you use the he API?
If you use up your trial then you have to put in your credit card. The cost is only cents if you are a light user like me

I just typed in the full address and with an auto-linked-to-google-account (free user) I'm now using GPT-4 so *THANK YOU!*
Oh never mind 😔 it does show gpt-4 in the textbox but when submitting a query it says "The model: `gpt-4` does not exist"
(tried using Brave and Chrome)
@@interlace84 that's because gpt-4 doesn't actually know of its own existence. You'd get the same result if you paid for the plus account. The data used in the gpt-4 model was scraped in 2021, before gpt-4 was a thing.
@@AlsGeekLab That'd be funny but no I'm pretty sure the red-lettered error I'm seeing indicates the model not being available :( when I click the dropdown-menu all I can pick is gpt-3.5-turbo, which does accept input after selecting.
Changing gpt-4 at the end to gpt-infinity reproduces the same error.
Is it really free? or some cents?
Free until.your free trial runs out, then some cents after that. Only pennies though
Went there and model only shows gpt-3.5-turbo and gpt-3.5-turbo-0301
