I have the official service manual, little tips: be very gentle when you remove the large steering wheel bolt, it can damage the collision adsorbing mechanism, also for reinstallation you need to tighten the bolt at 44 Nm torque
Yeah I got nervous with the airbag as well. Just remember to disconnect the battery and wait a couple of minutes. Yeah the steering wheel is more modern, I'm curious to see if the new outlander steering wheel will plug and play.
For the Lancer enthusiasts, in US and rest of the world - Mitsubishi is replacing the Tanaka airbags free of charges for all Lancers and the offer comes with a free check-up.
Yeah it's expensive and you never know what the previous owner has done to the Evo if buying a used one. The Evo steering wheel is thicker than the Lancer wheel. I do like that extra thickness. I am going to rewrap the wheel soon. Stay tuned for that video.
Yeah you might need to. Start with the brand of steering wheel controller you have and reprogram it. But before doing all that, test it after you swap out the steering wheel.
@josestechcorner I've seen those and some look really nice however when the leather came off so did the padding. It's down to a plastic wheel. I'm afraid the wraps are meant to cover the existing with padding. Without padding the wheel is pretty small. Odd looking.
@Jose - great tutorial. Please never delete this video man. One question, which Maestro iData Link did you use? There are others like RR, SW, AR2 etc. from Maestro
Great video mate. I have 1 question, the metal frame inside of the both steering wheel are different, so the new one with diferent frame can easily be mounted?
I am not sure if youtube will let me post the link but it's the Maestro universal analog steering wheel interface from Best Buy. www.bestbuy.com/site/maestro-universal-analog-steering-wheel-interface-black/2868571.p?skuId=2868571
I did buy new wheels for it. I had the factory ones for the longest time, they ended up getting bent when I was returning from Houston. Road construction crew stripped part of the highway, I hit an uneven part of the road which actually lifted me from the drivers seat. My 2014 has the side marker lights but not the markers on the mirrors. I think you can add them though, the wiring should be there already. Remove the chrome insert and you'll see the connector plugged to it.
Wow sounds like a bent rim was the better out come, lucky thats all that happened. Ohhh I have the the indicator on my mirror. The chrome piece isn't holding the harness, I've went as far as taking the funder liner off and nothing is there. I'm probably gonna have to splice it in. Thanks for the response!
If you're using the factory radio then it's just plug and play, the steering wheel will work. If it's an aftermarket stereo, then you'll need to select the ralliart or evo model in the software that you are using to flash the steering wheel control module, such as the maestro idatalink, in order for the media controls to work. It may take a bit to go through and find the correct one, I know it took me a few tries. Hopefully this helps.
So I paid around $250 for the steering wheel and $270 for the airbag. Usually you'll find the full steering wheel and airbag for $600 dollars or so. I got mine off eBay.

the most perfect tutorial i see!!!!
Always afraid ill set off the airbag. Gonna do this swap on my SE once I get a hold of one!
It's so modern, much like the Nissan steering wheels

I have a base lancer with a steering wheel (with no buttons)will an evo steering wheel (with buttons) work with a aftermarket radio?
I'm not sure but given that they use the same wiring, there is a chance that the buttons will be functional. You should give it a shot.
Great Video!!! Do you know if the EVO Steeringwheel fits on a Sportback? Is ir the same wireing?
Yeah it will fit the sport back as well. It's got the same wiring.
Thanks so much evo is too expensive…I just love the steering wheel
Yeah it's expensive and you never know what the previous owner has done to the Evo if buying a used one. The Evo steering wheel is thicker than the Lancer wheel. I do like that extra thickness. I am going to rewrap the wheel soon. Stay tuned for that video.
But I think the skeleton of the steerings are different! Right? Does it make any problem?
@@moayadad Yeah they are a bit different. No it doesn't cause any issues when swapping.
Great video! Question, I have the same head unit in mine, but I don't think I have maestro on it, would I still need to reprogram it?
Yeah you might need to. Start with the brand of steering wheel controller you have and reprogram it. But before doing all that, test it after you swap out the steering wheel.
Do you still have the original steering wheel? My Leather wrap fell off my steering wheel it looks so bad :(.
@@treefity071 yes I kept my original steering wheel. You can buy a wrap online and wrap your steering wheel again.

Thank you. I used the Maestro - Universal Analog Steering Wheel Interface - Black from best buy.
Great video mate. I have 1 question, the metal frame inside of the both steering wheel are different, so the new one with diferent frame can easily be mounted?
Yes. Even though the metal frame is different, they can both be swapped.
Did you have to reprogram the AirBag or is it plug n play? Need to know ASAP please 🙏🏾
It's plug n play. No need to reprogram.
Hi great video, do you have the link to the Maestro iData Link that you purchased?

@@josestechcorner Thank you.
hey i wanna swap my lancer es steering wheel with no audio control to the evo one with steering control do you reckon i can do that?
Yeah I believe if you swap it out with the one that has the audio controls it will work.
Anymore upgrades? Also did your come with those side markers? I have a 2015 GT also, but mine came with some chrome inserts.

What are the steps to flash the controls? Do I have to buy a program or anything? And this just USB connects to my computer?

@@josestechcorner okay cool! So what software would I use to flash? I got my aftermarket radio installed at a car audio shop so I have no idea 😅
Actually I may have read your reply a bit wrong , idatalink I assume is the software lol thank you for the video and your help 😀
more videos of your lancer
I'll try to make more, thank you!
Hola qué tal donde
Puedo conseguir el volante ? yo tengo un lancer es del 2017 pero quiero actualizar hacerlo más deportivo
Compré el volante en eBay. prueba a buscar uno por ahi.
Hey how did u install that ignition switch?
The ignition switch came like that from the factory. I have been toying with the idea of replacing it with a push to start button.
Thanks! Do you know if it fits on a GTS 2009?
As far as I know, it should fit. Mitsubishi tends to keep the same wiring throughout the years.
@@josestechcorner Thanks for the quick response!
Amazing video! Do you reckon it’d work on a vrx lancer?
Yes it should work. Mitsubishi uses pretty much the same wiring in all Lancer models 2008 and up.
@@josestechcorner Thank you so much! Have a great one!!
What can I do if my bt is blocked and I dont know the password?
Your Bluetooth? If it's the passcode, usually it can be reset in the radio settings. I think the default is 0000 or 1234.
How much is the evo x steering wheel?
So I paid around $250 for the steering wheel and $270 for the airbag. Usually you'll find the full steering wheel and airbag for $600 dollars or so. I got mine off eBay.
Where you buy mate any link?
I purchased the steering wheel on eBay. You'll have to search for Lancer Evolution or Ralliart Steering Wheel.
