  • Immanuel Kant wrote What Means, To Orient One's Self in Thinking and it was translated into English in 1798. This reading is from that translation. Kant writes against the objective study of the supreme Being and is for the subjective relationship to God. He says one must presuppose the existence of God. The first essay in the book I read from was What is Enlightenment. Kant wrote about that same theme here.
    He discusses Moses Mendelssohn in relation to Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi and Spinoza.
