That decade gave us the BLAXPLOITATION genre and iconic action flicks with female leads like Foxy Brown(Pam Grier) and Cleopatra Jones(Tamara Dobson). Proud Mary is an homage to that era... as Tarantino's Jackie Brown was.

I just saw it in 2021. It was the best movie I've ever seen! I love Taraji so much! What an exceptional actor and beauty. When she knocked the car door off, and, then, rolled out the car to get her advesaries, I hollered with laughter. She was so serious about getting to the boy. I liked the ending. It was very touching to see that she would become a mother to a child who needed one.
Gonzy...I probably wouldn't have watched if it it were...I'm not into comic book stuff (one exception is I still love The Incredible Hulk tv series from the 1970s,) and I liked in this film the way you could relate to the real, human stuff.

Haha nah the movie wasnt that long. Too music suspense music in scenes that didnt need it but the climax was some guns blazing fun tho. And Tina Turner's "proud mary" playing with it made it really fun.

Yes! About time. A talented Black Sister playing an Assassin Female Fighter. Angelina Jolie , Gina Carana Chole Grace,Scarlet Johansson,. Maggie Fitzgerald. Gal Gadot, had their turn to shine. Now finally a Sista playing a butt kicking fighter- of course Taraji Henson nailing this role. I have been waiting for another " Cleopatra Jones" fine classy fighting sister. Its about time. Lets get a good mix, we got our white sisters doing a lot of fighting roles, we got our Japanese sisters Yanin Jeeja, Michelle Yeoh, and lets not leave out our fine Latina Zoe Saldana whooped it in Columbiana now finally our black sister Taraji in an Action film. Cant wait to see it. There is great talent out there among black females. Now this movie completes the beautiful rainbow of good fighting actresses. Go Taraji!!
This was a very good film, I was greatly entertained watching it, as an ordinary person who just wants to be entertained and interested. I liked the way it blended the principle of MOTHER with and against the background of the activities of gangsters. There's a great LAST bit and LAST line in it , (made me laugh) but I won't give it away. I remember that actress in Person of Interest (a great series) ; there's something about her (is it her face or her voice? not sure) that always for some reason makes me think of those old great female singers of the 70s, like Aretha Franklin and Gladys knight and so on. Even though she's got a very complicated name, I surprise myself by actually REMEMBERING how to say it!....Taraji P Henson
From the preview Henson seems perfect for this role (unlike some movie just trying to capitalize$$$ on feminism to force a fighting female lead regardless of them not even being an ounce believable...ahem,Atomic Blond seems like its going to be a. Seen this trailer before but not the movie. Despite the R rating the storyline is very good and inspiring. Mary acts as a fighter/protector for a young boy. Awesome 👌.

White dude checking in here... The movie looks like a pretty good action flick on its own, with an absolutely STELLAR actress leading the movie. Truth be told, Im gonna be in theaters because I've loved everything I've seen Taraji Henson in, and the trailer looked like one of those 90's action movies that is just over the top and a full on thrill from start to finish. I can't wait!
Billy Wintergreen Because the color of someone's skin is COMPLETELY irrelevant when it comes to any set of skills. (Blending in as a local in Glasgow being one of the only things they can't do). I like action movies, I'm an IT nut, so I loved hidden figures, and she was awesome in the movie. So yeah, I'm gonna go see it.
Seen this trailer before but not the movie. Despite the R rating the storyline is very good and inspiring. Mary acts as a fighter/protector for a young boy. Awesome 👌.
I'm a long time fan of Ms. Hanson and the movie might turn out to be awesome; however, this trailer is uninformative, cliché and does nothing to sell the product.

I don't usually watch these type of movies but was flipping through the channels & saw her & continued watching until the end!! Now Tyler Perry needs to get her, the lady from "Colombinia" & Jada Pinkett Smith or Queen Latifah in an new Charlie's Angel version or something!! Or maybe it's already out there!!

Went and saw it. It wasn't too bad If you take the movie Wanted and synopsis for the anime Witchblade and you make all the main characters black and BAM! You have Proud Mary.
