As a sandwich connoisseur this was spot on analysis and I'd never seen Gordon come off as such a fool. My grilled cheese using kraft cheese, ham and grilled tomato on sourdough after a 12 pack of beer would blow his away! Subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos
Jacks lazy man grilled cheese is like how they do it in prison, wrapping it in paper and squeeze it in between the radiator.. that’s how the sopranos show said how they did it anyways.. haha
A guy who's always made this image that he's the alpha boss of everything didn't have the good sense to not make that monstrosity. I saw the video you're talking about and it was a really poor excuse. It makes it even worse in my book, "I was too scared to not make it."
Hmm... his Pan Bagnat with deli meats looks like he's half made a Muffaletta from NOLA - so like, a Pan Where Y'at? Or a bastardised Shooter's sandwich generally made in a hollowed out loaf?
So the bread bowl sandwich thing can be really cool for picnics or hikes. I do it for hikes, but I always put the sandwich under a cast iron pan to compress it. His sandwich though is wayyyyyyy too big and would probably fall apart. 😅
Two thoughts, BTW- he's probably using olive oil because butter would burn more easily at the higher temperature, and olive oil, so I'm told has a higher smoke point. Though given the temperature that as you pointed out, this is probably cooking at, I personally in general would go beyond olive oil and even avocado oil, to grapeseed oil. Though what effect that would have in other ways on the sandwich, I don't know. Also come to think of it, he may be using olive oil because it's supposed to be healthier than butter, at least in similar quantities.
Gordon's pan bagnat is horrific. He's caterieng too his rich, overly health conscious audience. I can't believe Gordon would make something like that. Watch Julia Child & Jacques Pepin make a pan bagnat. That is how it's done. It has tons of olive oil/dressing. Pan Bagnat means "bathed bread" because it's bathed in olive oil. In the south of france they say if the olive oil & vinaigrette isn't running down your arm its not a true pan bagnat. It is made with a large loaf of flat focaccia bread, romaine or red lettuce, slices of brie cheese, thinly sliced tomato and olives; spoon on vinaigrette. Optional items are anchovies, sliced or chunk tuna, thinly sliced bell peppers,
Part of me thinks his producers forced him to do this rustic crap. Gordon knows damn well thats not any good, and he'd roast the hell out of anyone who tried serving him that.
@@ThomasmemoryscentralI think Gordon was making the world's worst lemonade with the lemons he was given because his producers wanted a "rustic" wood cabin fireplace cooking video.
Gordon is guilty of exactly of what he has berated so many cooks on his various tv shows for. Classic dishes become classics for a reason. That doesn't mean you should never try to experiment or change things up, but when you do it recklessly/thoughtlessly just for the sake of being different, you end up with an inferior product.
Willing to bet he's never made a grilled cheese before this. Olive oil isn't that uncommon. Personally I grill the inside of the bread with olive oil, then butter on the outside. He definitely would have yelledvat someone for serving him that reuben.
To be fair, most chefs don’t normally cook themselves, extravagant meals off the clock. It’s more or less accepted to make simple yet effective meals when you’re not cooking at work. The problem however is you assume Gordon would look up how to make a sandwich to some degree. Some people do use olive oil for their grilled cheese, butter, however, adds more of a flavor profile. Not only that, but as someone who doesn’t eat, Rubens even I can say that doesn’t look good and his picnic sandwich doesn’t exactly looking like a sandwich I would actually eat.
He made a "redemption" video and it's even worse than the original grilled cheese video..
I need to find this, what's the video called?
@@8ozz220 I don't think I can link it but it's called: Gordon Ramsay Makes a Grilled Cheese Sandwich (WILL IT MELT??)
Even Jack Scalfani got Yorkshire Pudding right the second time...

The rueben Gordon made makes Arby's rueben look like it's from a michelin star restaurant.

I think based on that last clip, Gordon Ramsay doesn’t even know what a sandwich is
its great to see that you are back!! im glad you are healthy again
Is that a palm top tiger I see on your shelf? :3
White bread and American cheese ftw
you should check out Gord's satanic-looking scrambled egg mush
you will never convince me that it looks or tastes good, sorry. glad you like it, but satan works in mysterious ways.

It's a Reuben lasagna.
Even Michael Jordan had a bad game once in a while, but this grilled cheese was a doozy.
Maybe this is a fancy version of a lazymans grilled cheese? Cooking with Jack probably eats that

A sandwich that huge is fine in a cartoon for Scooby and Shaggy but real world rules show you'd need a lot of time to consume half a piece of that
Just ask yourself how Gordon would react if he was served this on Kitchen Nightmares
Olive oil is actually pretty good for a grilled cheese I've done it before if you do it right it makes the bread really crisp
Less is more.
Meatball suuuubs😂. I would try all these sandwiches, no problem, but yeah some of Gordons standards are nonexisting in these recipes
Gordons worlds greatest hamburger... (its a meatloaf) is also epic!

I've seen better grilled cheese on Archer
