Dear James, dear Kelly, I have found your video by chance. My wife and I spent our holiday in Crete in the summer of 2016. We also did a jeep safari with Tripadvisor. Our tour guide named Thomas was a Greek who was born in Germany. With a good social environment, good schooling and a good job. But he left Germany to find his own family roots. He only wanted to spend one season there, but he stayed on this island forever. This tour was very interesting. Far away from mass tourism. Thomas told us a lot about the island, from himself, his family, his friends and his neighbors. These things are not written in any travel guide. I still have fond memories of that time in Crete. Special impressions were the water reservoir, the villages in the mountains and the roads without crash barriers. My wife and I sat in the back of the jeep. You understand? The abyss at the rear when reversing the jeep. The reservoir had a dramatic level in 2016. He was almost life-threatening for the island. We also visited the farmers with their goats in the mountains. Ouzo tasting in the mountains. The crowning glory was a joint meal with Cretan delicacies. Delicious! The tour was worth the money. Better than taking the bus from city to city. Crete? Again and again. God bless you and your family Best regards from Germany
