What do you think about the m43 engine. Im about to buy e46 and I have read that 4-cylinder bmw engines suck. Have you had any problems with the timing chain? And have you done any services to it and how many kilometres your car has? Sick looking car anyway! :)
These engines are fairly strong. But you have to take care of it! Always let it warm up first before flooring the gas pedal! always do oil changes on time! The m43 engine has a slight problem with headgasket that will occure if you don't respect warm up fase! MAF Sensor needs replacing when buying an m43 they always go bad after some time. CCV wont hurt also to change that. Sometimes this gets forgotten. Timing chain is no issue on these engines! Never seen a timing chain fail on m43 engines. Rather buy the m43 than the more powerfull 'N' type engines! Those are just terrible and always have problems. My car now has 190K kms , i change oil and oilfilter every 5k kms just because it gets driven hard :)
Mine m43tub19 has 303 000 and so far engine is in good condition. I use 5w40 oil and replace every 10-12 k km. Timing chain with no issue. Average consupmtion is ~ 8 l/100km
If you're looking for a good performance the anwser is no. I have one e46 316ci and i think such a beautiful car should be faster although it is very very reliable. I got already 295,000km on it without any problem.

vanaf je een demper weghaalt is het uitlaatsysteem niet meer conform voor de keuring dus dan gaat deze er niet meer door. Echter is alles verstoken op nog geen uur tijd dus voor de keuring moet je er niet mee inzitten. Van de burble zullen ze niets zeggen want op sommige nieuwe auto's zit dit al standaard.
@@jonasdetant7866 de catback straight pipe is dus vanaf de katalysator een rechte buis, dat gaat zeker niet door de keuring. het luidste dat je kan hebben is een full straight pipe dus ook nog eens katalysator weg. Hiervan heb ik nog geen voorbeeld geupload op youtube. Persoonlijk zou ik gaan voor een einddemper delete. Dit is luid genoeg vind ik persoonlijk. Er is ook een mogelijkheid om een klepsysteem te steken zodanig dat je kan kiezen tussen luid of extreem luid.
In Nederland komt een auto met straight pipe (wel met katalysator) nog wel door de apk. België is hier strenger op. En waar heb je de burble tune laten doen? Wil ik ook wel op mijn 318ci uit 2001

Is there any more info on silver bmw (Catback straight pipe) exaust? I really like the sound of the exaust..
Well, both mufflers are gone, only the catalytic converter is still in place. piping is stainless steel.
