I think Kubo was also kinda tired from the job itself what is understandable knowing the working environment and tight deadlines these creators have each and every week. Most mangaka's I know never even finish their work and get burned down even get hospitalized or sadly even die. I think now that Kubo doesn't have anything to do and after he took a longer break he recharged his batteries and now he is in full swing. He probably also took fan feedback and thus is working closely with the anime team to improve his work, I have full respect for the man and honestly for any mangaka is a hard job for sure.
The fact that Uryu vs Renji is an anime only fight but it's hard asf, reminds me of Hisagi vs Findorr (their fight in the manga was much shorter than the anime)

What an episode! The animation and camera work is insane! I think this episode is 90% anime original because I don't remember most of it happening in the manga. Good job Renji you are the MVP of this episode. It's nice to see more of his bankai abilities and also for Uryu's Vollstandig in an anime original fight.

It really showcases just how strong Uryu is. Renji, compared to this, barely put any effort in to absolutely waste Mask, who bodied 2 captains in Bankai.

[Tidbits] - Grimmjow shows off a strange new ability, he can seemingly do a partial Resurrección which is something we’ve never seen an Arrancar do. - Many fans are missing this but for whatever reason, the Ending is reversed. As in the visuals appear in a reversed order (I have my speculations as to why, but It leans into spoiler territory so i’ll leave it be for now) - In Kluboutside we learn that the Schutzstaffel or Yhwach’s royal guard symbolizes different Era’s of war. Lille would be Present Warfare (Sniping), Gerard would be Medieval (Sword & Shield), Pernida could be Biological Warfare (Body Contortion), and Askin would be Chemical Warfare - Askin Naak Le Vaar has shown a particular pattern to how he fights, with both Mayuri and Tenjiro (0 Squad member) he attempts to goad enemies into chasing him, Mayuri was smart enough to call it out and ignore it, but here, much like Tenjiro, Grimmjow gives chase and Askin uses that to his advantage. It's interesting to see a character who has 0 shame in regards to how they approach battle, you can't even honestly call it a battle. - Askins ability doesn't directly correlate to blood, his ability is the "Death-Dealing" and it allows him to perfectly calculate the lethal dose of any substance. Askin takes something into his body and then he can manipulate the dosage of that substance. So with Oetsu, Askin ingested his own blood and so he was able to play around with the lethal dosage of blood in Oetsu's body. [In theory Askin can take in other substances and manipulate how lethal they are as well] - Renji sports a plethora of new abilities in the Anime-Only battle between he and Uryu. This is cool because many forget that Renji’s Bankai has always been an immature one, it’s supposed to take around 10 years to master, so it’s fun to see that on display. On the other hand Uryu’s new ability “Feder Swinger” is a great reminder of how scary a powerful Quincy can be, they have the power to truly dominate Reishi, which is the basic foundation of so many concepts in the Bleach world. - When Uryu takes the final shot against Renji we see a notable point of interest, it seems that Uryu directly targets Renji’s soul chain which should permanently affect Renji’s ability to boost his spiritual pressure (This is speculation, it could simply be Uryu honing in on a fatal shot or something) - Sidenote: Apparently despite the amazing production on this episode it still is one of the “Priority Episodes” - Sidenote 2: A reminder that even though Uryu has shown many impressive improvements, we’ve still yet to get an answer to what his Schrift is

Also it doesn't make it better, it just makes it easier to animate so you can animate more of it. The quality in fights like Uryu vs Renji is way more impressive because they didn't sacrifice any graphical quality/detail and still pumped out some amazing animation for a quite lengthy fight!

Right but the point is that Renji is a lieutenant so no one expected him to be squaring 1v1 against a Royal Guard when most captains had to 1v2 or 1v3 their opps, yet he still did it anyway, he punched way above his league. Also, Toshiro is a prodigy and the story keeps hyping him about how he is the kind of prodigy that only appears once every hundred years. All of that to have about the same level of relevance and victories as Renji, who's literal theme is being an underdog with no talent (Kubo even chose his theme song as "Stray dog" lmao). The point is that the fans treat them differently (Toshiro is one of the most popular chatacters) even tho story-wise they're pretty much matched in all relevant categories.

An unranked arrancar who even he said he probably wouldn't have beaten even if he started at 100% if the arrancar went for the kill immediately, and Jackie, the fullbrings outside of ginjo and tsukishima were trash. Meanwhile toshiro stalemate Espada number 3, and beat a sternritter, and his loses are fucking aizen and one of the top sternritter who's power literally counters him. And again, he's 14 by soul reaper standards and already has bankai, renji is significantly older and it took him until this arc with training from ichibe to learn his true bankai. If you exclude when the sternritter stole bankai because that was just unfair for all soul reapers, toshiro has 3 losses, 2 wins, and 1 draw, vs renji who currently has 3 wins and 7 losses

Quinces care about Reiatsu density because they directly control the reishi particles, but Shinigami generate their own reishi. Training in the Royal Palace for any Shinigami is just the equivalent of training in a gravity chamber from Dragon Ball

If Toshiro wasn't able to handle the responsibilities of being a captain than he shouldn't be one, so using his age is not an excuse for anything, he chose to be there despite being young and still immature in his abilities. And one of this responsibilities is that we expect Toshiro, as a captain, to be able to match a top tier enemy that has an equivalent rank to him. And again, since Renji is not a captain, by no means he had as much responsibility under him as Toshiro, by no means he was expected to 1v1 a Royal Guard. Literally no other lieutenant in the whole show 1v1 a Sternritter and won, literally no other lieutenant in the whole show 1v1 a Royal Guard and not only lived to tell a tale but also put on a respectful show. Yet he did it, he punched above his weight class. That's what makes Renji's effort feels more impactful. Also there is no point in saying Toshiro got a Bankai earlier while Renji only got his true Bankai now because Toshiro also was only able to use his true Bankai in this arc lmao.
This fight was amazing because 1. They didn't make Renji defeat Sklave Rai Ishida, coz it'd make Ichigo look weaker (he held back but he still. Took the L) 2. Renji had Uryu on the ropes before Sklave Rai, this puts him almost at the level of base Squad Zero members which is insane to even say (obviously not Ichibei) [EDIT: Looks like people can't read that I said BASE Squad Zero members, not Shikai, not Bankai, no crazy gimmicks, just Squad Zero at their base, and I didn't say Renji was stronger, I said he was close] 3. The reference to the OG techniques (the Old Snake and Geto Schneider which Uryu used in the Hell Movie) was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

Askin's power, The Death Dealing, is the power to control the lethal dosage (how much of any chemical the body can withstand before it becomes fatal) of any substance. Last cour he altered Kirinji's blood so that it became poisonous to him but sadly for Askin, Kirinji was the worst opponent for him thanks to healing springs and sadly for our guys who don't have that advantage. === I love that Grimmjow figured out how to partially transform. Now he can use some of the strengths of his released state without losing the advantages of his base form. === The Renji scenes are completely new. At least, if he had to lose, they made it worthwhile against the new and vastly improved Uryu with it being good to know Sōō Zabimaru retains enhanced versions of Hihio Zabimaru's techniques plus a few new techniques and Uryu needed his Vollstandig, his Schrift and a couple new techniques as well to win while Renji subconsciously held back to boot. Feder Zwinger (the new Uryu technique that extracts reiatsu from a victim) is German for Feather Kennel and it fits thematically considering Renji is from the Hanging Dog district and has compared himself to a stray dog barking at the moon in the past ("I am really a tramp down to my bones. I hate myself. I bark at the moon, but I don't have the courage to jump and grab it." - Renji Abarai in "A STAR AND A STRAY DOG"). Uryu is an a**hole for placing Renji in a kennel. === The Mayuri fight in this part of the TYBW is one of the best fights in the manga and I can't wait for the anime adaptation.

- Grimmjow shows off a strange new ability, he can seemingly do a partial Resurrección which is something we’ve never seen an Arrancar do.
- Many fans are missing this but for whatever reason, the Ending is reversed. As in the visuals appear in a reversed order
(I have my speculations as to why, but It leans into spoiler territory so i’ll leave it be for now)
- In Kluboutside we learn that the Schutzstaffel or Yhwach’s royal guard symbolizes different Era’s of war.
Lille would be Present Warfare (Sniping), Gerard would be Medieval (Sword & Shield), Pernida could be Biological Warfare (Body Contortion), and Askin would be Chemical Warfare
- Askin Naak Le Vaar has shown a particular pattern to how he fights, with both Mayuri and Tenjiro (0 Squad member) he attempts to goad enemies into chasing him, Mayuri was smart enough to call it out and ignore it, but here, much like Tenjiro, Grimmjow gives chase and Askin uses that to his advantage. It's interesting to see a character who has 0 shame in regards to how they approach battle, you can't even honestly call it a battle.
- Askins ability doesn't directly correlate to blood, his ability is the "Death-Dealing" and it allows him to perfectly calculate the lethal dose of any substance.
Askin takes something into his body and then he can manipulate the dosage of that substance. So with Oetsu, Askin ingested his own blood and so he was able to play around with the lethal dosage of blood in Oetsu's body.
[In theory Askin can take in other substances and manipulate how lethal they are as well]
- Renji sports a plethora of new abilities in the Anime-Only battle between he and Uryu. This is cool because many forget that Renji’s Bankai has always been an immature one, it’s supposed to take around 10 years to master, so it’s fun to see that on display. On the other hand Uryu’s new ability “Feder Swinger” is a great reminder of how scary a powerful Quincy can be, they have the power to truly dominate Reishi, which is the basic foundation of so many concepts in the Bleach world.
- When Uryu takes the final shot against Renji we see a notable point of interest, it seems that Uryu directly targets Renji’s soul chain which should permanently affect Renji’s ability to boost his spiritual pressure
(This is speculation, it could simply be Uryu honing in on a fatal shot or something)
- Sidenote: Apparently despite the amazing production on this episode it still is one of the “Priority Episodes”
- Sidenote 2: A reminder that even though Uryu has shown many impressive improvements, we’ve still yet to get an answer to what his Schrift is

Renji’s bankai has so many techniques. It was crazy. This fight had me yelling at me phone.
Remember Renji is the one that took out Ishida when Rukia was trying to get away before the soul society arc when they show up to capture her.

Also it doesn't make it better, it just makes it easier to animate so you can animate more of it. The quality in fights like Uryu vs Renji is way more impressive because they didn't sacrifice any graphical quality/detail and still pumped out some amazing animation for a quite lengthy fight!

To be fair the first time they met, Renji defeated Uryu easily so I guess Uryu remembered that incident.

Right but the point is that Renji is a lieutenant so no one expected him to be squaring 1v1 against a Royal Guard when most captains had to 1v2 or 1v3 their opps, yet he still did it anyway, he punched way above his league.
Also, Toshiro is a prodigy and the story keeps hyping him about how he is the kind of prodigy that only appears once every hundred years. All of that to have about the same level of relevance and victories as Renji, who's literal theme is being an underdog with no talent (Kubo even chose his theme song as "Stray dog" lmao). The point is that the fans treat them differently (Toshiro is one of the most popular chatacters) even tho story-wise they're pretty much matched in all relevant categories.

An unranked arrancar who even he said he probably wouldn't have beaten even if he started at 100% if the arrancar went for the kill immediately, and Jackie, the fullbrings outside of ginjo and tsukishima were trash. Every ither fight he lost, badly. Meanwhile toshiro stalemate Espada number 3, and beat a sternritter, and his loses are fucking aizen and one of the top sternritter who's power literally counters him. And again, he's 14 by soul reaper standards and already has bankai, renji is significantly older and it took him until this arc with training from ichibe to learn his true bankai. If you exclude when the sternritter stole bankai because that was just unfair for all soul reapers, toshiro has 3 losses, 2 wins, and 1 draw, vs renji who currently has 3 wins and 7 losses

Renji never got any buff from the Royal Palace other than his training there. And the only thing the Royal Palace does is have an insanely dense reiatsu, which still doesn't give him any buff. Quinces care about Reiatsu density because they directly control the reishi particles, but Shinigami generate their own reishi. Training in the Royal Palace for any Shinigami is just the equivalent of training in a gravity chamber from Dragon Ball
@@Fatalbeast22Again, their whole point as characters is being polar opposites. Toshiro is an insanely gifted prodigy (that's the whole point of the age gap) while Renji is a talentless underdog. And again, Toshiro is a captain. It doesn't matter how old he is, he is in a position of lidership and top responsibilities while Renji is not. If Toshiro wasn't able to handle the responsibilities of being a captain than he shouldn't be one, so using his age is not an excuse for anything, he chose to be there despite being young and still immature in his abilities.
And one of this responsibilities is that we expect Toshiro, as a captain, to be able to match a top tier enemy that has an equivalent rank to him. And again, since Renji is not a captain, by no means he had as much responsibility under him as Toshiro, by no means he was expected to 1v1 a Royal Guard. Literally no other lieutenant in the whole show 1v1 a Sternritter and won, literally no other lieutenant in the whole show 1v1 a Royal Guard and not only lived to tell a tale but also put on a respectful show. Yet he did it, he punched above his weight class. That's what makes Renji's effort feels more impactful.
Also there is no point in saying Toshiro got a Bankai earlier while Renji only got his true Bankai now because Toshiro also was only able to use his true Bankai in this arc lmao.
This fight was amazing because
1. They didn't make Renji defeat Sklave Rai Ishida, coz it'd make Ichigo look weaker (he held back but he still. Took the L)
2. Renji had Uryu on the ropes before Sklave Rai, this puts him almost at the level of base Squad Zero members which is insane to even say (obviously not Ichibei) [EDIT: Looks like people can't read that I said BASE Squad Zero members, not Shikai, not Bankai, no crazy gimmicks, just Squad Zero at their base, and I didn't say Renji was stronger, I said he was close]
3. The reference to the OG techniques (the Old Snake and Geto Schneider which Uryu used in the Hell Movie) was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

Askin's power, The Death Dealing, is the power to control the lethal dosage (how much of any chemical the body can withstand before it becomes fatal) of any substance. Last cour he altered Kirinji's blood so that it became poisonous to him but sadly for Askin, Kirinji was the worst opponent for him thanks to healing springs and sadly for our guys who don't have that advantage.

The Renji scenes are completely new. At least, if he had to lose, they made it worthwhile against the new and vastly improved Uryu with it being good to know Sōō Zabimaru retains enhanced versions of Hihio Zabimaru's techniques plus a few new techniques and Uryu needed his Vollstandig, his Schrift and a couple new techniques as well to win while Renji subconsciously held back to boot.
Feder Zwinger (the new Uryu technique that extracts reiatsu from a victim) is German for Feather Kennel and it fits thematically considering Renji is from the Hanging Dog district and has compared himself to a stray dog barking at the moon in the past ("I am really a tramp down to my bones. I hate myself. I bark at the moon, but I don't have the courage to jump and grab it." - Renji Abarai in "A STAR AND A STRAY DOG"). Uryu is an a**hole for placing Renji in a kennel.
