    I was in junior high about the time she went pop. A lot of my non-Christian friends who had never heard of her got really excited about this "new" singer named Amy Grant. I told them that I already knew about her, because she used to be on "our side" (I said those words, which probably were a poor choice of words). I love Amy's Christian music. Her other stuff (pop stuff) is still good, but her earlier Christian stuff really ministered to me growing up, and still does.

    I loved her Pop albums first and then years later, fell in love with her Christian records. A true artist, she is. God-given talent for sure. It's a shame "christians" are so judgemental considering Jesus was anything but that.

      In truth, Jesus taught us not to judge others if we're guilty of the same sin. (Matt 7; Romans 2) He taught believers to make righteous judgment (John 7) and God gave him the authority to judge. (John 5).

      @@FreeBird_6791 furthermore, John 7 says to “judge correctly” in referring to Jesus’ actions and the works of the faith. There is nothing there that says we are to judge others.

      @@476233 Look at John 7:24. Jesus told the crowd to not judge by appearance but with a righteous judgment after people witnessed his miracles but persisted to call him a demon and anything but God's son. He teaches this throughout the new testament. He taught the disciples to watch out for false teachers, that they would know them by their fruits. This was repeated by Paul in his epistles. They were to make a righteous judgment about others.

    *Amy Grant broke my heart when she "went pop". I'm not Christian, nor even religious, but her early music was literally a religious experience. I was just **_crushed_** - I'm so glad she came back to her roots in the end.*

      She was doing pop way before Heart In Motion. She had several songs that were relationship ones. A&M just decided to put lots of $$ behind her because Janet Jackson was leaving. I think Unguarded was even more pop than HIM.

    • @princessmagical
      @princessmagical 6 років тому +1

      I don't consider Heart in Motion a pop album. I consider it a Christian album with some pop thrown in. But I disagree with Amy when she said she needed something fun for people to relate. Every song can be praising Jesus and be fun because in heaven, the saints and angels have the perfect love, peace and joy and those of us who will be with the Lord.

      @@princessmagical I agree with her... In that time, pop music was getting more sexual, and she came with innocent pop songs... See today... it's so good to see girls like Tori Kelly making pop music, providing good art for all... in a place where most of girls have to be sexual.. It's redeeming culture.
      But I love to to see Amy with her christian songs.

    Its so nice to see a lot of LIFE in her, wich had gone by time... probably because of her path changed towards pop, later the devorce, etc.
    I think every good song needs a genuine reason to be written. A true message, a feeling, a prophetic word, a scripture from the Bible. But "making pop music for non Christians, or songs for Christians who doesnt like Christian music" is definitaly not a genuine reason!

    • @FoodNerds
      @FoodNerds 4 роки тому

      As a song writer I completely disagree. If people don't like the music they will not listen no matter the message. So creating meaningful lyrics with a powerful message with a great melody, hook, and rhythm can touch someone who would never step inside a church. That might lead to a life saved from drugs, I've seen it happen. If you make good Christian music for good church going Christian people, you're just preaching to the choir.

    • @FoodNerds
      @FoodNerds 4 роки тому +3

      @@tlynn7043 Agreed. A Plummer doesn't say " Before I come you're house Mrs. Johnson to fix the leak that sprung in the middle of the night, I need to know do you go to church and have you accepted Jesus as your lord and savior? No if he's an evangelical he can ask her if she's a praying woman and tell her that she can say hallelujah cause he fixed her leak. Then he ask her, do you go to church anywhere? Do you mind if I invite you to my church and then my wife and I would love for you to come over for BBQ afterwards. Jesus healed bodies and hearts and never asked about whether they believed in God. He provided the reason to believe.

      A bit judgmental? It’s not like she’s seeing about abortions, satanic cults, or sleeping around. Just because she is singing pop or mainstream music, doesn’t mean she is not a Christian or turning into a sinful life.
