I remember being grounded when i was younger and sat warching black n whites on bbc 2.

After 14 years of delving into the origins of this story, I'm convinced that it was originally written by an American couple, Mathew Franklin Whittier and his wife, Abby Poyen Whittier. Charles Dickens merely commercialized it within six weeks for desperately-needed cash.

This adaptation needs a 90TH Anniversary theatrical re-release in 2025 as well as a Christmas Day airing on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) in between 1961’s “KING OF KINGS” and 1965’s “THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD”.
