@@retroreactions.... I really like The Final Cut. It's an album with a lot of feelings and opinions surrounding it that aren't necessarily about the music, but I choose to ignore all that. There's some great music on it, and the guitar solo in The Fletcher Memorial Home is yet another Gilmour solo to die for. 💗 😊

You know you had me at PINK. 😘 Edit-I don't know if you heard this but when they did the tour for The Wall, they built a wall in front of the stage, as they were playing. In this moment at the end of The Trial, the wall came down literally. One of my top regrets in life is that I never saw PF live-and this concert in particular as it's my favorite album of all time, as you know, lol.

I would recommend watching the Alan Parker movie now, it's really not that bad, best thing Bob Geldof ever did imho, and the animations in it are some of the very best you'll ever see. It's very faithful to the album, one new song and one song dropped from the album basically. I saw it on release when I was at that vulnerable late-teen age, before I came out, the Pink speech and the Trial both had me in floods of tears, the end still can do it to me. Definitely, seek it out, it does help fill in any blanks.

During my awkward teens this was my favourite Pink Floyd album.
I possess the album, a copy of 'Is there anybody out there' performance (The 80-81 tour) and a copy of the movie. If you haven't seen it yet, watch the movie! Stars Bob Geldof as Pink and the late Bob Hoskins as Pink's manager.
It always pays to remember that The Wall is a 'musical stage play'. Over the course of the performance a literal wall is built between the band and the audience, with segments of the wall opening to reveal Pink's degradation. Giant nightmarish puppets represent The judge, The Wife, The Schoolmaster and The Mother. I regretfully missed out on getting tickets to see Rodger Waters perform The Wall. Hopefully he does another tour my way at some point, so I can witness the spectacle.

Hello Brandon. If I didn't knew it were Pink Floyd the Wall I would believe it's a kind of neo contemporary classical operette from the early 20th century from a unknown composer 😅 apart the heavy distorted guitars probably . In the years of the album release I frankly didn't liked that part to listen, it sounded too much to me, even if it was perhaps a wise choice to finish that masterpiece because I liked better the first side, and things like "Another brick in the wall(part2 )" "Mother" "Hey you" or "run like hell" but obviously they were part of a huge concept whole.

    "So this is where...
    ... we came in"
And much like 'The Dark Side of the Moon' which begins and ends with a heartbeat, so too does 'The Wall' end with the first half of a sentence that finishes at the very beginning of the album. Envoking the same hopeless sentiment of a helpless loop we're all caught in... psychologically, individually, and collectively, a loop from which there is no escape. It is, for better or for worse, the human experience. And say what you want about this admittedly troubled man, few people wrote about it better in Rock than Roger Waters. Simply one of the greatest albums ever recorded.
    Masterpiece.
Shout out to David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin whose musical talents and production skills helped bring the story to life, making it more accessible often against Roger's dubious judgment.
    Good job!

You have Bob Ezrin to thank in large part for The Trial, but of course it was composed by Waters. Waters later made a full double album opera titled Ça Ira in 2005, just as composer and producer. Alice Cooper - Years Ago/Steven/The Awakening are another of Ezrin's production masterpieces. The album ends with "Isn't this where..." and starts with "... we came in?"

This seemed a strange collection of songs to feature from The Wall. Unless someone has heard and understood the album up to this point, how could they possibly know the numerous different characters Roger was playing? There are fascinating aspects to The Wall, but it is not my favourite album of theirs. That would be "Animals" (1977) - the 2018 Remix is fantastic IMO. I also prefer "Wish You Were Here" (1975).

    • @retroreactions....
      @retroreactions....  3 дні тому +1

Hey there! Yeah, I picked these because so many songs on the album are very short and wouldn't work well for a reaction vid, plus my reaction was pretty strong to The Trial. As you know, it's a super dark and challenging album, much different from others. Animals and The Division Bell are definitely 2 of my top albums from them. Only about 3 months left till I release the full reaction. Thanks for stopping by 😊

@@retroreactions.... Yes, I see what you mean Brandon. I am pretty sure that when you reacted to "Animals", it was the original mix of the album (with the original album cover). Even when it came out, it sounded to me a tad muffled in places compared to it's predecessor. I would love for you to relisten to it again in your own time to refresh your memory and then do a channel reaction to the 2018 Remix. It will blow your socks off buddy! 💥

i saw pink floyd perform the wall in los angeles in 1980 and it's still my #1 concert 44 years later. you will probably like the follow up album "the final cut" which is roger waters' last one as a member of the band, and includes some songs that were cut from "the wall". it came out during the faukland island war fiasco, and waters pulled no punches at prime minister thatcher. he felt she betrayed those brave men who fought in WWII,and also takes shots at ronald reagan and other world leaders. "the gunner's dream" is a particularly powerful song. you should also put waters' solo albums on your list. they aren't everyone's cup of tea,but i love them all. "amused to death" is probably his best solo work with the most recent album "is this the life we really want?" coming in a close second (IMHO of course). looking forward to more pink floyd, whatever comes next.

@@mattleppard1964 though i love the album, radio KAOS was better as a stage show. they had a DJ booth set up on the side of the stage for jim ladd (RIP) to do his bits between songs. in addition to the songs on the KAOS album, roger incorporated a lot of pink floyd classics into the show. during the intermission roger joined jim in the DJ booth and took "calls" from audience members who stepped up to a "phone booth" in the middle of the arena. it was very interactive and imaginative.

Ciao Brandon...il finale termina col suono di una dolce fisarmonica da artista di strada cosi come è iniziato l'album THE WALL.
Il finale simile all'inizio è piuttosto tipico della discografia dei Pink Floyd degli anni '70
Lo ritroviamo in DARK SIDE OF THE MOON
    ANIMALS
    THE WALL .
Mentre WISH YOU WERE HERE (1975) non inizia con gli stessi suoni ma con SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND part 1/5 e termna con S.O.Y.C.D part 6/9.
    Ciao da Lucca - Italia🇮🇹
