I am 76 years old, I served 30 years in the submarine force. This was the most moving war movie I have ever seen. When the credits began, and Sarah Slean began singing After the War, I wept.
Thanks for sharing. The film Passchendaele is beautiful in every way. Not only as a reminder and memorial to the battle, but also very, very romantic. Beautiful music and a song at the end. Paul Gross is an amazing actor, director, screenwriter and musician, but he also reminds people not to forget the period of battles. Thanks for the valuable movie.
The whole process, the undertaking along with the marvellous end results, makes me feel proud to be Canadian. Love how dedicated these folks were. Thanks for sharing!
Paul Gross, thank you for everything you do for the world of film and Canadian culture. For me you have always done something much more. By your openness, honesty and modesty you open the heart of another man. It's really a great pleasure for me to look at your work and the passion with which you do it. This film is for me one of the best I've seen. I come from Poland but I will remember about your birthday in april. 🤗
This is one of my favorite war movies. I've never understood why it was not released more widely and/or receive more acclaim. It's almost impossible to find the film. Amazing story, extremely well done film.
Paul Gross did a wonderful job on this film, truly one of the better war films in modern times. To me, one of the saddest parts was the love scene-trying to find a few moments of tenderness and intimacy in that awful place.
To be honest when I saw this movie, the opening battle scene was great, as time went on it got fucking boring as hell, and we finally get to the final fight and there finally at Passchendaele, so yeah most of the film to me looked like it had nothing to do with the Battle of Passchendaele except the final battle, so yeah to me it was more of Canadian love story instead of a war film.

Probably couldn't afford to make a pure war movie.
One way for too many on all sides
