Tari Puspa Mekar Official

This dance is usually performed by Tirta Sari group in Ubud as a welcome dance. You can find many videos of them performing this dance live as part of their regular show. I really love the costume as it resembles Oleg Tamulilingan. The dance itself seems best suited to group performances because it is quite slow and there is that part where the dancers just sit and 'meditate' for quite a long time. Someone told me that the dance seems to have been adapted to suit a piece of gamelan music rather than the other way around so the 'accents' in the music aren't as clear as other gamelan pieces written specifically for a dance.

Yes, what you said at the end of the description is exactly the case here. The intro may have been developed by Tirta Sari, but the composition body is a Teges Kanginan-style semar pegulingan piece called Kakang-kakang (known as Rebong in the gender wayang repertoire).

Yes, it's a combination of two gender wayang pieces in the Teges Kanginan style: Seketi and Rebong. The transfer was originally made by Made Gerindem in the 1980s in Teges Kanginan and then adopted later in Peliatan.

Sekedar info .Banjar Teges Kanginan adalah salah satu banjar bagian dari desa peliatan.dan gamelan semara pagulingan gunung jati teges kanginan yg punya puri kaleran peliatan dan gamelan tirta sari adalah punya banjar teges kanginan. Sy dulu ikut waktu berdiri group tirta sari th 1978.🙏
