Opportunistic pricing. No competition = higher prices. Wish it wasn't so, but greed has ruined everything. Respect for the individual has gone by the wayside. You have a lovely place and beautiful animals. God bless you and all the animals. Please keep all the great videos coming.
Thank you for clarifying. Didn't even think of opportunistic pricing. No competition = higher prices. It just really makes things harder for a whole lot of people in this world. SMH! Thank you and God bless you 🙏 too! Keep the faith. Keep following, and I will keep uploading videos 🐓
Agreed. When you remove the idea of competition in your marketplace, you are cutting your own throat as the consumer. The community here needs to understand that. Gouging the consumer is never the right thing to do. You will make more volume of sales with honest prices. Bless you brother, good words.
Supply and demand, along with competition combined with economy of scale. It’s also easier to ship to a big city because all kinds of stuff is shipped there. Small towns are always more expensive. Few people, remote location, higher business risk, less competition. When I worked in King Salmon, Alaska a 6-pack of cheap beer was $22, a single can of soup was $5, and cereal was like 3x the price.
Keep up the great work Rooster! I believe in community and working together. We live in the rural mountains of Colorado and deal with the same prices. Everything is almost doubled compared to the city. It's very frustrating. I'm looking forward to the new year in Terlingua and helping the community out any way I can. Stay safe.
I live in Ft. Davis half the year. Are you on Terlingua Ranch? Haha, when you called your dog Luna my Dog, also named Luna, started watching your video!🤠✌️
Rooster, been watching your series ( as much as UA-cam algorithm puts up, so I watched most your pre-move inspiration vids, and lot of these. ) Was wondering if your soil is all sand, or if it has any clay to it? Also, I've heard the south west sun and dry heat in deserts make wood deteriorate fast, perhaps if you use a propane torch and char the outer faces of the pallet wood before putting on the building, might make it last longer? I know Japanese old wood workers, burned post that went in the ground to stave off rot and bugs. on your water totes, i've heard if you spay paint the white translucent plastics black, it cuts down on algae growth, as algae needs light to grow like any plant. I'm sure thats why big expensive plastic cisterns are green or black opaque food grade plastics. Blue barrels also. anyways, it looks to be finally coming along well, build wise.
I understand you. My problem is with funds. With Social Security disability I can't keep up with the rising cost of things here. I'm trying to figure things out one day at a time. I'll get things done sooner or later. I try to prioritize with what I need first. It's a hard way of living and getting things done here.
Big stores are a 1/3 more that the original price, Smaller stores charge 1/2 more, because of employee pay and over head. Big Ben National Park is cheaper to get you in there, so they can make more on the entrance fees.
@@offgridrooster Yes I'm sure you would have to ship them to find homes. I think the biggest part of marketing them is brand recognition. You're already doing that with the UA-cam content.
It’s really nasty that you work your butt off to build something and better your (rented) land and then they come and demand more money for your work. The term should be changed to landrenter instead of landowner. If you miss your tax payments they will take away (evict) your land and buildings. Carpetbaggers!

Thank you for clarifying this. Didn't even think of it. 🐓
Wow!
Everything's looking great 😊 It's starting to come together
Yes, it is, and thank you! One day at a time 🐓

I'm looking forward to meeting you 🐓
Your dogs are beautiful.
Thank you 🐓. They are a handful
Aww, sky looks like one of my cats from years ago.
She is the best cat I ever imagined.
Love your deep discussions, my ranch is up by sierra blanca. Wish it was closer so we could talk about life.
That would be great! 🐓

Yes, I am living in Terlingua Ranch. My dogs are smarter than I am. 🐓

@@offgridrooster with ya there brother, I'm also disabled veteran, with low disability pay as my only current income. So I feel ya!
Big stores like HEB etc can buy in huge quantities and negotiate their prices. Small mom and pop stores don’t have that bargaining power.

Might I suggest investing in some pure bread dogs? The upfront cost is high but they could provide some income.
Out here there are far too many dogs and not enough services for them.

Yep. Even property that is hard to get to and has no improvements has jumped in tax value.

Exactly 💯
