Lived in my house for 6-12mths in this state. It needed redoing of electrics so did the fixtures and re-plastering. It was so messy and unclean. Correct, ensure the edges are straight otherwise your window fittings will not fit and the finished project will not look nice; neither if the plastering is unsmooth you can see every bump and that's not good on smooth walls. This looks really good. The weather seems appropriate for the day. All that sanding when finished is alot of hard arm work, I tell you. The view is amazing. Nice works brother. My family and I love these type of projects. Peace and Blissings Sankofa for us All, the Most High's Unconditional Love never stops moving with us. Wow Carra thank you so much for your kind words! Yeah I am just trying to help people with their projects and help prevent mistakes. It helps save money and time , I tell you.....and stress...lol Blessings to you!
Hey guys! So sorry there is a error in the video. We realized 35 bags of cement was extra. Originally we started with 170 bags of cement, so total bout 205 bags of cement for the whole house. Comment below if you have questions or need help!
How did you plaster a whole mansion with only 35 bags of cement? I say this because I am also plastering but I looked up the ratio online. Cement:Sand = 1:5, 1 part of cement and 5 parts of sand in a mortar). The overall thickness of plastering should be minimum 20mm including two coats. This gave me 410 bags needed based on my square feet internal and external. I also using river sand, anti salt and waterproof. But if you know how to reduce my numbers let me know because I am looking at 12000 usd. Thanks 🙏🏾
I don’t know how big your house is, but I feel like 12,000 dollars is way too much for plastering 🤔. In terms of managing, the only way is to add one or half wheel barrel of sand. Also, be strict on them to try and use the mortar that will drop on the floor as they plaster your property. If possible always shop around for different quotes before you commit. Don’t trust everybody. I do not know if you are in Ghana or another country but it is important to have a site manager that you trust that has your best interest in mind as well. Lastly, if you like, I can also get in contact with the individual who did my plastering job to check it out for you.
$12,000 is way to much. My project is a 5 bedroom and 5.5 bathrooms storey and my estimate is around $5, 000 and I'm even negotiating on the labor. I would say supply the cement 100 at a time. Always provide the materials yourself and divide the plastering into 2: exterial and interia. We work so hard for our money so we have to open our eyes wider. Good luck.
It depends on where you build and how big your house is, I did my plastering a while ago, the prices change in Ghana all the time. The best way to save money is to recycle the wooden boards you already have and have your carpenter give you an estimate on how much extra woods you have to purchase to build the scaffold. I honestly don't remember my scaffold cost
Yes, you have to tell them to manage it! Be strict on them because otherwise your money will get wasted. I will find out how much the chemical is and get back to you.
Yes, the one we purchased was about 400 ghc at that time. They have different size liters for different prices. Also sorry, I spoke with my contractors the 35 bags of cement is just for the outside plastering. It was 205 bags total
Sorry, it has been a while and the price doesn't stay consistent in Ghana. I have guys that can do the work for you to help save money and well. Email at monalito21@gmail.com for more information.
Unfortunately that’s the problems we have in Africa. You have to cross your fingers hard to wait for the gorvement to build the road. But sometimes the neighbors will come together to do it if they can afford that.
It's not the African way to be unsafe though. The artisans aren't well established. Then mostly aren't even registered contractors. The professional working contractors are also there. The just charge you more and their work output if also generally better
You are correct, the more established are more expensive. We wanted to help local ghanaians who may not have access to retain projects often because they do not work at big companies anymore. Yet, can still do a great job. As long as you have a site manager you can always guide them.
