We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo or monotype Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only a Pokemon character's best team as a theme team nuzlocke? Today we find out: can Janine's Best Team Beat a hardcore nuzlocke of Pokemon HeartGold!?

Character Best Team Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only one encounter per badge obtained.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Silph, if it isn't too impractical for you, would you mind putting in a pre-gym team update? What I mean is maybe before every other gym, have an image of your team's pokemon, levels, and movesets, similar to the Bulbapedia gym leader parties. I don't want it to be some huge burden on your workload, but I think it would be nice to see, especially for the pokemon who may not have a lot of chance to shine before they fully evolve or learn their final moveset. The pokemon that Silver stole is implied but not confirmed to be sneasel, most of his other team members by this point can be caught in johto elsewhere
My favourite part of this run is how many times you won a battle using an on-brand strat. As Koga’s kid and a ninja in her own right, Janine would for sure rely on ‘sneaky’ strategies- like poison, confusion, flinches, etc.- to get the edge on the competition, and with how many times your opps hit themselves or got worn down exactly by poison, it seems like even the game’s RNG was playing along with the theme!
I would love to see the Kanto portion of this run.

I once used better help for a year and I was suffering with depression, mood swings, family passing away, trauma, and abandonment issues my first three therapist just ignored me and would go days sometimes weeks before responding to my messages it wasn't until my third therapist they actually decided to talk with me regularly and even then all they did was have me vent and they were a yes man just telling me the simplest and easiest answer they could think of in 10 seconds for me to do or advice they never changed there answers even when things would change for better or worse they were pretty much just spamming the A button through the sessions and messages better help is not helpful at all

I thought sabrina is the 5th gym leader, and janine is the 6th? shouldn't it be sabrina team first before Janine?
@@Jay-hm4yy in the original kanto games Sabrina is gym 6 while koga is 5th so while you can fight kanto gyms in any order in heart gold Sabrina is still 6th

I first found your channel from the True Power series, but I was always hesitant to watch the challenge run videos. But then I decided to try one when you started the Gym Leader runs, and I'm sad I missed out on these videos for so long! Your commentary and editing are so goofy and ridiculous. Huge fan man especially when you play hardcore nuzlockes in the Hoenn region (especially Emerald - my favorite all time). Can I request? Can you do a hardcore nuzlocke using the weakest pokemon of each gym leader in Hoenn (Emerald)? Like you can only use geodude (Roxanne's weakest), machop (Brawly's weakest), Voltorb (Watson's weakest), and so on? That will be awesome! Thanks in advance!

Fun poison pokemon fact! The Grimer line is the only non ghost pokemon out of every generation that can learn 'Shadow punch'. You need to breed for it, but it's still a neat.

Black and white two or crystal with Giovanni’s team. There are plenty of encounters he has access to, with plenty of appearances over the years. An “evil” boss theme run would be cool.

For ecruteak I just always assumed those “houses” were actually like outdoor shops and that those were more like shutters/curtains rather than doors. Since Ecruteak is heavily based in Japanese culture it would make sense.

I never finished my degree bc of my anxiety and panic attacks and 15 years later I’m just getting help now bc they only got worse and worse over the years until I started having mental breakdowns so don’t wait on your mental health! It’s just as important as your physical health and a mental illness is just as debilitating as a physical illness!!

A few days ago I decided to try Pokemon Nuzlocke. Many poketubers said that the third generation is the simplest in this regard, so I decided to play the ruby version. In the process, I caught about 45 Pokemon, 15 of them died during the game. I reached the elite four and failed by losing two Pokemon to the third member of the four. Both were useful against dragons. And because of that, I lost to nuzlocke. But I decided to complicate the task for myself. I decided to make nuzlocke according to the yellow version, using only one Pokemon of each type (catching only one on the route). That is, there are only 15 Pokemon in the entire game (14, since Dratiny can only be found in the Safari zone, and there I missed it). As a result, during the game I lost only Diglett, passed all the members of the elite four and defeated Harry losing only Lapras. I'm still in shock.

Theres a continuity error during gym 2. When the oran berry activated when tentacool hit 10 hp, he was at 22 hp when he attacked after.
If he went for kanto then he would have had to do a bit where he called the jenine in kanto an imposter or something 🤣🤣
