I have a soon to be 10 year old retired ex racer. Her name is Nunzia. We adopted our Greyhound on Aug 9th 2013. She had turned three in June. She has been the joy of our lives, very loving and very quiet. You can almost count how many times she barks in a year on one hand. Greyhounds are almost, if not, majestic. She is very smart, sometimes a little too smart. There are no other dogs like them. She is, my best friend.
HI Danny Lewis! Thank you so much for sharing your story about Nunzia. I agree that Greyhounds are a very unique breed. I think they are magical. Xander is my 1st Greyhound. He stole my heart from the day I brought him home. I hope you'll join Xander's little family here on UA-cam and share in his adventures. Best wishes to you and please give Nunzia an ear nuggie from me.

My friend has one and she lets her run around off the lead all the time at the beach. She loves to run and play with other dogs and also likes going in the ocean but not swimming. She’s a funny girl that’s for sure
@@Spentastic I'm so impressed by the breed. They really are magical dogs. When you look into their eyes it's like looking at an ancient soul. I feel very privileged to have Xander in my life.
I feel the same about little Marcy, took her for a big walk yesterday and she’s so relaxed and happy out in public. Loose leash when walking, loves a good sniff about and playing with other dogs running around, especially ones around her size, the little ones either make her freeze when they bark or with the quieter more timid ones she stalks them, getting low with her nose twitching, then when she’s about 5 meters away she runs up really fast and stands over them and they roll over, then it’s playtime. Sometimes people get worried when she does this but it’s all just playing. Greyhounds are let’s say a bit different to other dogs, seeming to react differently to similar situations depending on their mood. Will Marcy chase a tennis ball? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. You are privileged indeed to have Xander in your life and him you for saving him. Take care you two

I really didn't know what to expect when I changed breeds so I was quite surprised when Xander moved in and immediately fit into my lifestyle like a comfortable old pair of jeans. I didn't set out to start a UA-cam channel but I was SO impressed with Xander right from day one that the Vlog sort of evolved organically. I wanted to share the message about how wonderful the Greys are as pets. I still can't believe how easily Xander transitioned from a racing dog, to a kennel dog, to my home. I'm amazed by that. Hi Yvonne J! Thank you for watching and for your kind comment. This video is from our first week together in June 2018. I was so happy that Xander settled in right away. We have enjoyed SO many fun adventures together since then. Fun fact, Xander roached for about the first month and he hasn't roached since. I have no idea why. He prefers sleeping stretched out flat now. 🤷🏼♂️
@@xandersadventures7527 Yes i realised after I wrote that it was over a year ago. So nice to hear he is settled and you are all having fun. 👍 I have had Bertie two years now. @@xandersadventures7527 One of my grey's never roaches, but the other one did all the time and 9 - out of 10 times she would fart when she stood up to stretch too.
Dog racing and the way these dogs are retreated is abominable and should be banned. These racers are often abandoned and discarded when people trying to get rich off dogs are through with them. Some of the stories I've read are sickening. Thank you to those who rescues greyhounds and adopt them.
Hi seaquestbcd, I agree, Xander is a happy, content boy 😊 Xander has opportunity every day to run in a safe, secure fenced area. Most days he prefers to meander about. About once every 2-3 weeks he enjoys a run. This is his choice: he could run to his heart's content every day. I let him decide. 😊
Hi AutoMan Dan! Thank you for watching and for your comment. I don't know about missing his race day meals! He does a lot of restaurant reviews these days. He enjoys a wide variety of treats but I think his favorite treat is cheesy grits. LOL Do you work with the racing dogs? Wishing you a happy day!
Xander was a successful racer. He raced until he was almost 4 YO. Thank you so much for watching! When I made this video, I made it on my phone and had no idea I would continue posting videos to the channel! When Xander adopted me, he changed my life in a number of wonderful and positive ways. 😁 Be well and stay safe! 😊 ~ Kristine
Hi John! Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind comment. I appreciate it. I'm SO please to hear that you are considering adding a Greyhound to your family. I truly think you would not regret that decision. The breed is just magical. Xander is my 1st Greyhound. Before he adopted me, I kept Great Danes for 35 years. I wondered and worried a little bit what it would be like to live with a Greyhound. I was simply impressed right from the start. When you look into the eyes of a Greyhound, it's like looking into the eyes of a wise old soul. It's beautiful. I hope you'll visit Xander again to see what we are up to now. Wishing you and your ridgebacks all the best.
How did you get his video? I would love to see my little boy race , not sure how. He was almost 5 when he came to me. I love this guy so much. I have seen his race stats but not videos. His name was WWs lineman, he had 230 races. Also I’m so impressed with the greyhound family they really do care about the dogs.
Hi Cindy Miller! Thank you for watching and for your comment. So happy to hear you are adopted by a Greyhound! Xander and your boy are actually related! Flying Penske is Xander's Great-grand sire on his dam's side. I tried to find online race replays for WWs Lineman but I was not able to find any. It looks like he raced in Mexico. 230 races is quite a career! I saw his photo. He's a handsome dark brindle like Xander. Xander raced in the USA. Xander's registered name is Kay Blue By You. Xander ran 107 races. I was enamored with Greyhounds from the day Xander adopted me! They REALLY are magical dogs! Give your boy an ear nuggie from us and we hope you have a GREYT day!
Hi Ruddy Santoso! Thanks so much for watching and for your kind comment. Xander is my only Greyhound and he is my 1st Grey. Before Xander I kept Great Danes for 35 years. I had 9 Danes over the years. It is my honor to share my home and my life with Xander. He is truly my best buddy. We do everything together. Do you have a Greyhound also? Wishing you a happy day!
Hi David! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment. Now that's a houseful! I love hearing that. How fun. These noodles really are magical dogs that just zoom right in and capture our hearts. I wish I could have more than one of these magical hounds. My circumstance won't accommodate that at the moment. Xander is my 1st Greyhound. I kept, bred and showed Great Danes for 35 years before Xander adopted me. At one time I had as many as 5 Danes in my house so I understand what it's like to have a houseful of furry love. Be well and stay safe.

Thank you so very much for replying back to me. I am also subscribed to Galgos News (Spanish Greyhounds) that between 50K to 100K Galgos are murdered each year in Spain by their ruthless hunters and today on their email, they have a link on saving Greyhounds at racetracks closing around the U.S. and around the world. They have petitions that are free and you sign them and they are sent off to the President and governors of the States with the greyhound racetracks. This is something that greyhound lovers will definitely want to sign! They were saying that many times the greyhounds that are no longer used are sent to China and the people kill and eat these poor greyhounds! Reading that nearly made me sick. How could anyone do that to such a majestic and gentle dog! Please email me, John Nimmo at mrcaddyman78@gmail.com and I will forward you the link to sign these petitions to save the greyhounds at these racetracks.
Hi John. Thank you for your thoughtful and well considered comment. I'm aware of the plight of the galgos which is just horrible. I think the situation in the US is much more complicated. All the best friend.

HI Jennifer Southhall! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment about Xander. I'm excited to hear you will soon be adopted by one of these magical hounds! I hope you will join Xander's "family" here on UA-cam and let me know when you get your girl.
Xander looks to have settled in so well already. ❤ He is a lucky boy. It's so funny how greyhounds do that roach sleeping position. Have fun with your new friend. 🐶

Yes i realised after I wrote that it was over a year ago. So nice to hear he is settled and you are all having fun. 👍 I have had Bertie two years now. Not sure if he is full greyhound. Not x racer. The vet thinks he is. He is such a joy to own, but it has been a learning curve with his speed in the garden to catch small animals!! Thanks for replying.
Best wishes to you and hunter Bertie!
@@xandersadventures7527 One of my grey's never roaches, but the other one did all the time and 9 - out of 10 times she would fart when she stood up to stretch too.
Betty was full of gas all the time.
Is he your first dog? He looks to be getting along fine. I wish the two of you many happy and loving years.
Oh, thank you so much for your well wishes! 😊
Xander is my 1st Greyhound. I have a long history with Great Danes before Xander.
Dog racing and the way these dogs are retreated is abominable and should be banned. These racers are often abandoned and discarded when people trying to get rich off dogs are through with them. Some of the stories I've read are sickening. Thank you to those who rescues greyhounds and adopt them.
He looks so content, maybe get him to run about in d garden a little, he was made to run & run freely!!
I bet he misses his race day meals
Hi AutoMan Dan! Thank you for watching and for your comment. I don't know about missing his race day meals! He does a lot of restaurant reviews these days. He enjoys a wide variety of treats but I think his favorite treat is cheesy grits. LOL Do you work with the racing dogs? Wishing you a happy day!
Wow Xander, you were a champ! This is very nice vlog Kristine. I enjoyed watching Xander's first interacts with pretty much everything 😀
I just loved your video! I have 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks and would also love to great a rescue greyhound.
Xander's Adventures It was so nice to hear from you, thank you! I wish I could have seen him race. He is so sweet. Again thank you 😊
@@cindymiller2928 I wish you could see his races too. I enjoy watching Xander's races.
Nice video
Hi James! Thanks so much for your kind compliment! I really appreciate it. Are you considering adopting a retired racer?
Ok, who's cutting onions in here? It's Ok, they are happy tears. XOXOX
Awe, thank you for your kind comment! That made me smile. Wishing you a happy day friend!
I hope you two have a happy day also and you record it. :D
@@jesusislord2457 Thank you! The camera is usually rollin' if we're out adventuring. 🤗
Thank you for this video. Take good care of him. How many greyt do you have?
Hi Ruddy Santoso! Thanks so much for watching and for your kind comment. Xander is my only Greyhound and he is my 1st Grey. Before Xander I kept Great Danes for 35 years. I had 9 Danes over the years. It is my honor to share my home and my life with Xander. He is truly my best buddy. We do everything together. Do you have a Greyhound also? Wishing you a happy day!
I went to a grayhound rescue centre for 1 now I have 5
@@xandersadventures7527 not to mention my 2 lurchers and a terrier
@@davidwinter2959 Oh my gosh! You really do have a full house! Are you in the US?
@@xandersadventures7527 no in the UK and we live in a static off grid
@@davidwinter2959 Ah! Love my UK friends! My Mom was from Ireland (Cork) and I have cousins in Ireland and London. So cool that you live off grid. I really admire that. When you say "static" do you mean an RV?
Do you live in an RV? Very cool!!!
Hi karinb416! Thanks for watching and for your comment. Yep, we live in a class C RV. I LOVE it! Wishing you a happy day!
Just about the worst race call I've ever heard.
Thank you for watching. Wishing you a happy day.
Hi I'm Simon Lekwene interested in adopting one
He is sure a sweetie and love his name! When I saw the photo of him reaching I had to do double take - looked almost identical to my grey girl, Gracie. They are wonderful dogs
Oh, thank you for your kind words. 😊 You are right, these dogs are nothing short of magical! Give Gracie an ear nuggie from me and Xander! Gracie is a beautiful name too!
Xander's Adventures so glad to see you feed him with an elevated bowl. It’s much easier for them. I had owned hounds before owning Gracie, but greys are a breed apart: totally sweet and appreciate all you do for them. Enjoy him!
@@debbieakyurek5275 ~ I kept Great Danes for many years before Xander arrived in my life. I guess elevated feeding is 2nd nature to me. Can't argue about Greyhounds being super sweet. Truly a wonderful breed and underrated as pets in my humble opinion. 😍
