He really let loose on that song, and it was very impressive. Later, he was more reserved, as they turned to more pop and less rock/R&B. Likewise, I am impressed with Allan's harsh and energetic vocals (also toned down as they turned more to pop).

I am sure I have read that Eric had a young family and as the Hollies became successful he could not manage both family and the demands of touring/recording and became unreliable. Eventually he was given an ultimatum and Bernie Calvert came in. That said, Eric was a great Bass player and its sad he has left us. RIP

Wow Wireless Electric Guitars In 63' NOT ! The Song Was Great, Even The Acting Not Bad, But Not Live! " Don't Worry Will Engineer It" When I watch videos and see no wires on Electric Guitars? I look Closer.
The two songs you mention were "of the time" . And Carrie Anne was in the Summer of Love (1967) and was a first rate pop record and a huge huge hit in many countries ...hardly an embarrassment !
The thing is, that they later focused n pop tunes - the ones they kept on selling well, (bc they were involved in legal /troubles about taxes via their manager) AND THEN, accidentally evolving into a sweet, happy pop also influenced by The Mamas and The Papas, or Lovin Spoonful, maybe(?) (in America this catched up the attention of *some producers* and renamed theirs pop formula as *BUBBLEGUM POP* and started to release Bubblegum pop singles to death) so that's why they were labeled also as Bubblegum when they did their "charts comeback" with Jennifer Eccles 🤷🏻♀️ after King Midas' failure...
Im sorry Graham, unles a drummer can sing harmony, I dont care who is "keeping the beat" they are just metronomes. A good drummer is one that keeps quiet while the musicians are tuning up and learning the new songs. It just doesnt matter that much. The Beatles still would have been the Beatles with Pete Best.
Great video ! The beautiful blond girl that started dancing was awesome !
I love Clarkie. Great singer, writer and cool guy.
A great band - one of the best of that era!
That was awesome…that was the hardest and fastest I’ve ever heard The Hollies rock out…👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Don Rathbone: the Pete Best of the Hollies...at least he got to play on their first two singles.
Yeah. He seems to be a perfectly capable drummer. But then again, Bobby Elliot played those drums like nobody's business.
Never heard this song but I love the guitars!
tony even then was a very good guitar player brilliant

Allan Clark, have a great voices. And they was so handsome, in there.primes.
How cool is this. Love the Hollies!
Wow, Tony was barely 18 here, and already a guitar master
George was barely 15 joining the Beatles, and already a guitar master, wow.

Yeah, the best pop drummer from the 60's Bobby Elliot!
And most underrated
Both he and Ringo were great dance hall drummers.
The drummer on this one is Don Rathbone.
@@DavidAndrewsPECmaybe bc Elliott appears in this video, after the scopitone clip
@@KieroUnasBotasAGoGo Possibly. But the title is about _before_ Bobby Elliot.
Note the presence of Eric Haydock - one of the best bass players around at that time. Unfortunately, there was a falling out and he left the band.

You can't underestimate the input Allen gives. The whole is better than the parts.
Tony looks like he’s 16! Helluva great guitar player at that young age
Indeed. And he was in fact 17 at the time of this video, yet already an amazing guitar player.
He was born in 1947, so he's about 17 here! What a handsome guy with incredible talent!
Apparently he was classically trained.
One of my favorites little lover Great song .
I never realized The Hollies went that far back. (1963)
1962
Now you know it (and already fantastic Rockandroll masters)
Great video from The Hollies
Don Rathbone was their original drummer.
I just Love these interviews.
Beatles fans will crucify me - but The Hollies had they best vocal harmonies of all British bands.
It wasn’t a TV appearance; it was a movie (It’s All Over Town) in which The Hollies did two numbers.
Yes, from 1964.
I am in love with Allan
Rosty Cosy he was especially cute then.
And I'm in love w/ Tony Hicks. (We both got good taste)

Nice to see Eric, such a good bass player and a good looking bastard to boot! RIP mate

Best time. ...full of Energie
Veeeery early i can tell by that blond girl looks a la Doris Day
Easy to hear the influence that the Everly Brothers had on Graham and Allen.
Heck, just one look at Graham's hair in this time period and you can see it! :)

It is. He was only 17 in this video, and amazing on guitar.
I think Don was keeping a pretty darned good beat.
Agreed. He was no Bobby Elliot though in my opinion
End off the war must have been more important than war 2023 we still listen two our bomb rocking
Don Rathbone was a very good drummer, this was a great performance from him
Love Eric haydock 6 Fender V string bass driving the music Jet Harris played one on The Single Diamonds
Hey brit, the early hollies, why is this cutes, lad not getting.the recn.. then. Hes sure had been. A leader, of the. Hollies, he's wrotes these songs

Where have you found that film?
Jan Kjaer This is just a short movie clip that came from the British Invasion DVD series “ The Hollies Look through any Window 1963 - 1975”

a Fender Bass VI, who knew?

Glad they stopped putting silky wigs on Bobby.

I don't think it has any pretences to being a live recording.
It's not supposed to be live, Sherlock. It's the 1963 version of a music video.

Well if you cannot see it then I'm wasting my time telling you.
Let's be fair though, that's not surprising for 1963. The Beatles were the most famous band possibly in the world at that point.
